"Atlanta attorney accused in wife's death bonds out of jail"

His next court appearance is*January 5.

A Fulton County judge issued a $200,000 bond for McIver on Thursday. Prosecutors had requested a much higher bond of $1 million, but that request was denied.
They believe McIver is a flight risk and he will have to wear an ankle monitor if he bonds out. He will also have to surrender his passport.*
The state also mentioned a panic attack McIver had the night of the shooting and requested that the estate sale of Diane McIver's belongings stop immediately.

McIver borrowed $350,000 from wife

Prominent attorney Claud “Tex” McIver had borrowed $350,000 from his wife, who he shot and killed in September.

McIver borrowed the money in 2012 from a business owned by his wife, Diane McIver, called Clay Management Co., according to court documents. He was supposed to pay back the loan with interest by 2014, but when that didn’t happen he received an extension to 2017.

Now we're getting somewhere.....

From Boots' link:

"He added that he planned to pay off the loan by the end of 2016."

......so, did he have this $$ available to pay DM back, had she not otherwise died in September? I bet not.....JMO

Two charges. One they can't prove to satisfy the Atlanta Journal & a misdemeanor that they can get a conviction on but is meaningless. jmo

I think not either.

PDA board’s McIver remains in Atlanta spotlight

Putnam County officials have said they will take no action to remove or suspend Tex McIver from his Putnam Development Authority post. McIver has continued to attend and participate in the PDA's monthly meetings in Eatonton following the shooting. It was unclear whether or not his being outfitted with an ankle monitor would prevent him from attending the January PDA meeting, which is set for 2 p.m. this Friday, Jan. 6 in Room 204 of the Putnam County Administration Building at 117 Putnam Drive. The PDA is also scheduled to have a retreat-style meeting 9 a.m.-4 p.m. this Monday, Jan. 9 at the Middle Georgia Regional Commission, 175 Emery Highway, Suite C in Macon. Both meetings are open to the public.

McIver was due back in court on January 5th for preliminary hearing. No update yet.

There is a PI on the case:

Diane McIver's loan to Tex could hurt him in court

CBS46 Law Enforcement Analyst Vincent Hill was a police officer and is now a private investigator. He says the loan isn't good news for Tex.

"It definitely leads to possible motive. I mean maybe he couldn't pay the $350,000 back, maybe that deal went bad. We don't know the circumstances of that but it definitely leads to a possible motive," Hill said.

Well, I was going to say probably DM's family, but I'm not sure. I found his public Facebook media page. What say you?

Vincent Hill appears in the video here.
Note that 6 days ago, Mr. Hill was not working on the McIver case other than as an analyst for Channel 46. Now he is reportedly hired by someone to work on the case.

I still don't know who hired the PI, but I am so glad that they did.

I wonder maybe if Tex McIver's attorney hired Mr. Hill just so that he would stop investigating and publicly reporting the truth from a LE standpoint?
Maybe like the guy in Palmyra, NY who recently bought up almost 1000 local papers after the report of his arrest for DUI and his mugshot appeared in that issue. Now the whole world knows about it!

How many homes did they own? I see in putnam co, eatonton, ga in Great Waters they are listed on Fernbank dr and also his address is pearidge in eatonton ga and he borrowed money from her? 1990 charges............http://www.myajc.com/news/local/tex...90-shooting-teens-car/NgCSQDruQjiEL6gCVfsW7I/

An Atlanta attorney who says he accidentally shot and killed his wife last month was charged some 25 years ago with firing a gun at a car containing three teens in DeKalb County.
A grand jury indicted Claud “Tex” McIver but prosecutors declined to pursue the 1990 case after the parties settled it privately, according to court records obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. No one was injured in the incident. But afterward McIver was charged with three counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm in connection with a crime, and criminal damage to property.
