I've heard it both ways now, so not sure. Either way it's hard to believe he could wrestle a deputy for a gun and run down several floors in a courthouse to get outside without meeting another Deputy with a gun who should have shot him on the spot.

As I said earlier any deputy that is in the corridors would not have a weapon--they have to check them at the entrance to the court house. I assume that the deputies that transport defendants would be armed but they come into the courthouse from a different area.

...a female deputy was shot in the head and is in critical condition although the bullet did not enter her skull. Apparently shot inside the courtroom..could be the officer whose gun was taken but no confirmation on that.

That is what I understood from the discussion on CNN a little while ago. I'm guessing that the perp saw a female deputy and decided he could "handle" her. I wonder if he would have even tried it with a male deputy. I'm all for women in LE, but perhaps it is better for men to be in charge of violent criminals.

Thanks for the info. They could easily modify them with GPS right? Maybe that's the way to go.

This is horrible. It is going to affect our legal system also, as no one is going to want to be a judge. It is similar to what happened just recently in Tyler, Texas. And of course the judge whose husband and son were killed.

What is going on, all this violence lately?

I just read on Fox that Judge Barnes is the same guy who allowed a woman to plea to a lesser offense for killing her newborn if she was sterilized. Sounds like his co-workers considered him pretty reasonable and fair. What happens when a judge is murdered? Are there special circumstances or is it like any other murder?

I hope they find this guy before he kills again. And no doubt he will. He wants to reak as much havoc as possible before the snipe-shooters get him. He's got a gun, he should do the world a favor.

all agencys working together and have recieved info that may be helpful
suspect overpowered the deputy BEFORE entering the courtroom(he was coming from the holding area) then held the people in the courtroom at bay before shooting the judge and clerk. Left courtroom and encountered the other deputy that was killed.

Press Conference w/ mayor and deputy chief of police.......The deputy was escorting the prisoner to the courtroom....ALONE! Violent 6' 1" prisoner escorted by one female deputy. This really pizzes me off. Fulton County sheriff has lots of splaining to do.

Has anybody seen or heard from Brian Nichol's lawyer since the shootings took place? I would really be interested in what he/she had to say for Nichol's actions. Is the lawyer assisting in the search for Nichols? Did the lawyer see the killings take place?

I haven't heard anything about his lawyer yet. Perhaps anyone who was in that courtroom is still being held to be interviewed at this time.

They just showed a picture of the Alanta Journal-Constitution reporter that was assaulted outside of the courthouse. His face is a mess--looks like he was pistol whipped. Very large cut running down the side of his face. I hope they get this guy quick before he hurts someone else.

The lawyer would be the person with the most readily available information about his history, family, enemies and victims. Hopefully the lawyer is working closely with the LE and giving any and all information that might help them bring him in.
