Jennifer Ewing endured dozens of punches and kicks alive for each one but it was a stomp on her chest that broke her ribs and caused her to suffocate, the state medical examiner said Wednesday....
Dr. Kris Sperry estimated the 53-year-old Sandy Springs woman was punched five to 10 times in her face, pounded 18 to 20 times on other places on her head and stomped or hit 15 to 20 times on her body.
All these injuries occurred when she was alive. From the outside to the inside, Sperry said during Wednesday testimony in the Paulding County death penalty trial of Michael Ledford. All this would have been extremely painful.
Ledfords attorney, Jimmy Berry, through his questions to Sperry, suggested some of her injuries were caused by a fall from her bike, but the medical examiner dismissed that theory.

"Ledford claimed a prostitute bit him when he said he would not pay her $40 for performing oral sex, according to his mother, stepfather and brother. His mother called his probation officer and his brother went to the Dallas Police Department with their concerns that a woman was hurt. But the police and probation officers could not find the prostitute.
Ledfords family also testified he was an alcoholic and that he was drinking the other times he committed crimes. All three testified they tried to get his probation revoked or have him arrested because he had started drinking heavily, but they were not successful.
