Because it is so clear that Patsy Ramsey wrote the "ransom note." Why on earth would she do that for an intruder? She wouldn't. But she would do it for a Ramsey.

It doesn't make any difference what you call it (sweater, jacket, coat, etc.) -- there is only ONE item of clothing under discussion. That one item of clothing is the outerwear Patsy wore to the White's dinner party. It was red and black and fibers consistent with the garment were found at the crime scene.

But "consistent with" does not equate with "match", so the fiber evidence is weak. Besides, there was a black and red scarf on the counter in the kitchen, and the scarf fibers could have been the source of the fibers at the crime scene. For instance, the scarf could have been the padding needed to properly use the ligature wrapped around JonBenet's neck as an erotic asphyxiation device.

And the fibers were microscopic, which often means they can float in the air and settle almost anywhere. Incidentally, there were hundreds of different fibers on the sticky side of the duct tape, not just four -- so the tape itself had likely been all over the place prior to being placed on JonBenet's mouth.

The fiber evidence shouldn't be discarded, but it is very weak evidence to draw conclusions from.

I think what UKGuy was trying to establish was the structure of the material of what Patsy was wearing rather than its style ie was it made from knitted wool (do they knit in the US? yes of course they must) that sheds like mad (well the knitted wools I have do) or was it made from some tightly woven probably synthetic fabric that tends not to shed easily?

And thank you BlueCrab for your always reliable information, this time regarding Patsy's sweater, jacket, coat. But what exactly was it MADE of? And was it the same as what she was wearing the next day?

Fleet White's trip to the basement involved inspecting the broken window. He picked up shards of glass and placed them on the window sill/suitcase? He then MOVED the suitcase.

John does not remember seeing the suitcase in the basement before the murder. Patsy claims the last time she saw the suitcase...it was in the room next to the wine cellar...the boiler room.

Let's not forget that Patsy was in the wine cellar Christmas Eve, retrieving presents she hid there.

Why was there FAO Schwartz wrapping paper in the wine cellar? Did someone open a present in the wine cellar? Was JonBenet lured into the wine cellar with a gift?

On a trip to New York with JonBenet, Patsy purchased Christmas gifts and FAO Schwartz shipped them to her already gift wrapped. She partially opened some of them to ascertain the contents since she wanted to set aside a portion of them to give to Burke on his birthday in January.

I've never seen this info reported anywhere before. There wouldn't be wrapping paper on the floor if she had only partially opened them would there?
Wouldn't she have just redone the wrapping paper up instead of leaving it on the floor?
