One day, when the youngest daughter was 6, she was playing with an older sister, fell off a bed and lightly hit her head. Quate said he spanked her — not aware she had Salisbury steak in her mouth — and she choked to death.

He said he stayed with her body for three nights on the dining room floor of their home in Belleville in disbelief. He said he and his wife were afraid to call police because they felt like their children would be taken from them.

He repeatedly referred to the event as "the horrible."

Does he even realize he's not making any sense?

The girl's mother contacted police from a woman's shelter, where she said she had gone to seek refuge from her husband. She said Quate killed the child during a "physical altercation," Las Vegas police Lt. Raymond Spencer said in a video statement.


Spencer said officers were told the woman's remaining children, who are in their early teens, were never allowed outside, even to attend school. He described them as pale and lacking socialization skills, and said officers observed signs of abuse. Both children were taken into protective custody.


"It was very disturbing when you saw the children," Spencer said.

He said his wife said she was going to put Alyssa up for adoption.

The wife is in custody due to a warrant in Illinois.

Meantime, Quate’s wife was being held Thursday in a Las Vegas jail on a fugitive warrant stemming from an unrelated forgery case out of St. Clair County. Jail records showed she was being held pending a Monday court appearance as a fugitive on an out-of-state warrant.

I think these two are both bad - in different ways - but both are bad. I am pleased LE have got them both locked away.
I also agree with CVALDEZ that mental health issues, and drugs and alcohol probably come into play here......and.....as always the poor innocent children suffer to the max.
Neighbours have said they didn't like her because she had a vile temper and had tried to attack some of them/or one of them and that she was abusive. One curious thing was that she had crashed cars (plural) that her family had purchased for her which had left her without transport. This is further confirmation that she is of unsound mind, she had wrecked several cars, and lacks the ability to control herself. She is also unable to care for her children, and unable to cope with the dependency of her children.
He is no better, he has other problems.
When these two got together - they were doomed. (And so were any children they produced).
