Reporter: Did you think the person was there that day?

Doug Carter: “I thought there was a chance that he was, or in the area/somewhere close by.”

Re: 5 year anniversary of the murders, “He’ll be watching this”

Reporter: Do you know the suspect?

DC: “I wouldn’t go that far.”

Reporter: “What is a realistic timeline?” (On his arrest)

DC: “I don’t know”

DC: “It’s certainly my intention that this case comes comes to some level of conclusion by the time Governor Holcomb’s time is up, and that’s very personal to me, but I also think it could be sooner than, I do believe that I’ll see it, I believe that I’ll see it. Mike Patty and Becky and Anna, I mean today could be the day.”

“I still have great confidence, Emily, that we’re going to be successful, that’s not just because I’m an optimistic guy, eventually I’ll able to tell the world what we know and the rest of the group will be able to tell the world what we know, unfortunately I can’t right now.”

Re new sketch:

“There was a very significant shift for us, and we fully anticipated the criticism, but remember a sketch is not a photograph, and I think eventually what we’ll be able to do is put the face of the murderer up in between those two sketches and we’ll be able to merge them together and become one.”

On shots:

“I’m not going to talk about where we are because of that, but I can tell you we gleamed a tremendous amount of very positive information and we’re continuing to run those tips down.”

Reporter: Do we think this person is local?

DC: (pause) “Um, again, I think that there’s a strong likelihood that’s the case, but that’s as far as I’m going to go.”

What would you say to Abby and Libby today if they were standing in front of you?

“It would be that I’m sorry, I couldn’t protect you, but I also hope you’re proud of what we tried to do for your family, and that I believe I’ll see them again.”

This thread is for Kegan Kline’s current case as it progresses through the justice system and is separate from the Delphi thread.

The charges stem from a search of his Peru, Indiana, home on Feb. 25, 2017, just 11 days after the bodies of Liberty German and Abigail Williams were discovered. The FBI, Indiana State Police and Peru Police Department took part in serving the search warrant, and the investigation was focused on Kline allegedly soliciting underage girls.

According to a probable cause affidavit out of Miami County, obtained by 13News, Kline created the anthony_shots account approximately six months prior to when investigators interviewed him in February of 2017. He allegedly said he created the account to contact both girls he knew and girls he did not. Court documents show Kline saying he would talk to girls, even if they were under the age of 16, and that he found them on Instagram and then told them to message him on Snapchat.

Some suspect info removed from FBI poster on Delphi killings | wthr.com
March 16, 2022

“What is missing is the height, weight and age of the suspect.

The request to remove the information came from the Indiana State Police. It released the following statement to 13News:

"The Delphi Task Force requested the FBI to remove the physical descriptors listed on the flyer. Investigators do not want to discourage or stop the public from submitting a tip because the person does not specifically meet the height, weight, and age description. Investigators would like the public to focus on the photo of the man on the bridge, the voice recording, and second sketch that was released by law enforcement."”

Murder Sheet Podcast Episode Index

1. Episode 60 - The Delphi Murders: Kegan Anthony Kline
December 7, 2021

‎Murder Sheet: The Delphi Murders: Kegan Anthony Kline on Apple Podcasts
The name Kegan Anthony Kline has now come up in connection to the Delphi murders.
“Who is Kegan Anthony Kline? On December 6, 2021, Indiana State Police brought up a profile known only as "anthony_shots" in connection with the Delphi case. The following day, WISH-TV connected the 27-year-old Indiana man with that profile.

Less than two weeks after the murders of Liberty German and Abigail Williams, investigators raided a residence connected to Kline in Peru, Indiana. In August of 2020, he was hit with a number of felony charges for child molestation and child *advertiser censored*.

But who exactly is this person? We decided to find out by talking with Dylan Howell, who counted Kline as a friend growing up. Howell spoke to us about his shock over the charges against Kline, possible red flags, and the chance that Kline's crimes are linked to what happened to Abby and Libby in Delphi.

This episode takes a break from our focus on restaurant homicides, and is part of our intermittent series of episodes on the Delphi case. If you have information on the Delphi murders, send your confidential tip to abbyandlibbytip@cacoshrf.com or call 844-459-5786, 800-382-7537 or 765-564-2413.

• Here's the video from Indiana State Police: (https://tinyurl.com/yc27hpwp)

• Here's the WISH-TV report: (Man behind 'anthony_shots' account charged for child *advertiser censored*; docs don't tie him to Delphi case)

• Here's the 2017 Journal & Courier article about the raid on the house in Peru, Indiana: (FBI searches Peru home, finds no link to Delphi killings)”

2. Episode 61 - The Delphi Murders: Kayla’s Story
December 13, 2021

Murder Sheet: The Delphi Murders: Kayla's Story on Apple Podcasts
We spoke with a woman who said she was preyed upon by Kegan Anthony Kline
“A 27-year-old Indiana man named Kegan Anthony Kline has been brought up in connection with the 2017 murders of Liberty German and Abigail Williams in Delphi, Indiana. He currently stands accused of using social media to catfish and coerce young girls.

This week, the Murder Sheet spoke with a woman named Kayla. She told us that Kline cat-fished her when she was just 12. Over the next few years, he would threaten and abuse her online. In one chilling anecdote, Kayla recalled meeting Kline at a public park. She said he became furious with her for bringing along a friend.

Due to the disturbing allegations contained in this episode, we submitted a tip to authorities using the Delphi hotline, with Kayla's permission.”

January 10, 2022 Bonus

https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/murder-sheet/id1538289354?i=1000547439197
Nobody in Las Vegas seems to remember Kegan Anthony Kline.
“Correction: In this episode, we said that Tony Kline deleted his Facebook. That was incorrect. It appears that Kline blocked Murder Sheet co-creator Kevin Greenlee when he reached out for comment, so it only appeared that his page was gone. We regret the error.

On Facebook, Kegan Anthony Kline posted that he was starting a new job in Las Vegas on the day that Abby Williams and Liberty German were murdered in Delphi, Indiana. But does Kline's Vegas alibi hold up? In this episode, the Murder Sheet speaks with business owners and casino employees to attempt to get to the truth.”

4. Episode 74 - The Delphi Murders: An Interview with Carroll County Sheriff Candidate Mike Thomas
February 9, 2022 Bonus

‎Murder Sheet: The Delphi Murders: An Interview with Carroll County Sheriff Candidate Mike Thomas on Apple Podcasts
“There's ’s a new Sheriff in town– or at least there will be soon. Carroll County Sheriff Tobe Leazenby– who has been running the investigation into the murders of Liberty German and Abigail Williams cannot run for the office again because of term limit restrictions.

At the moment, no one has filed for the Democratic nomination and three men have filed for the Republican nomination– Mike Thomas, Tony Liggett and Lee Hoard.

It is inevitable that the way the Delphi murder investigation has been handled or mishandled will become an issue in this race. And– of course– the man who wins the election will end up having a tremendous impact on the future of the case. Anyone who cares about getting justice for Libby and Abby really needs to follow this campaign.

Considering that, we decided to reach out to candidate Mike Thomas. He gave us his thoughts on what’s been done in the investigation– and what he would do differently if he became the man in charge.”

Murder Sheet: The Delphi Murders: Father and Son on Apple Podcasts
Who is Tony Kline?
“Just a few months ago, Kegan Anthony Kline’s name was publicly linked to the Delphi murders. But to learn more about this 27-year-old man and his connection to the unsolved killings of Liberty German and Abigail Williams, it’s important to know about Kline’s family and upbringing. This week, the Murder Sheet ventures up to Peru, Indiana to uncover some of the crimes perpetrated by Tony Kline, Kegan’s father.”

Murder Sheet: The Delphi Murders: The Kegan Kline Police Interview: Part One on Apple Podcasts
The documents we uncovered reveal more about the child sexual abuse materials case against Kegan Kline.
Content warning: This episode contains discussion of child molestation, child sexual abuse materials, and the murder of children. Listener discretion is strongly advised.

In this episode, we'll read directly from the interview transcript, delving into subjects like:

• Kegan Kline’s admitted “problem” with a sexual interest in children, and his claim that he failed a polygraph regarding the Delphi murders.

• Investigators’ focus on Kegan Kline and his father, Jerry Anthony or “Tony” Kline.

• Police pushing Kegan Kline to explain the flood of disgusting, horrific abuse videos and images of underaged girls on his devices.

• Kegan Kline’s admission that he destroyed evidence on his phone after police first raided his home about two weeks after the Delphi murders.

• How Kegan Kline possibly sparked Indiana’s largest investigation into child sexual abuse materials.”

• The possibility that the anthony_shots account and Liberty German may have been in extensive contact before the murders.

• Tony Kline's violent acts against children in the past.”

Interview transcript reveals new details in Delphi murders investigation

“He also admits having contact with Libby German.

“You admitted that you talked to her for a few hours at a sleepover and then you blocked her because she was annoying. You remember that?” the investigator asks.

Kline responds saying, “You’re right yeah.”

Throughout the course of the interview, Kline denied exchanging photos and messages with German.

Eventually, a state police detective says “I’m telling you it’s fact you did, okay. Because the Anthony Shots persona that uh, the fake account you umm admitted to making communicated with Liberty German, on Snapchat umm on Instagram, and like I said it was not just for a couple hours.”

As detectives detail Feb. 13, 2017, the day Abby and Libby went missing, they tell Kline, “eight o’clock in the morning at your house, where you and your dad lived, two separate devices see the numbers here how they’re the same? Log in, log out. One device. Log in, log out. All within minutes of each other to the same Anthony Shots Snapchat account.”“

New transcripts give insight into Delphi murder investigation

“Was Kegan Kline the only person to use the account?

According to interview transcripts, Kline told investigators multiple people had access to the anthony_shots account. New information shows investigators believed at least two people used it.

Investigators based that information on forensic investigation into the syntax, or wording, used in interactions. In a later interview, Kline told investigators his father had access to the account.”

New details in Delphi murder of Abby Williams and Libby German
March 24, 2022

“In the newly obtained transcripts that were briefly posted on a Miami County court website earlier this month, Kline is interrogated by a state trooper and a sheriff’s deputy on Aug. 18, 2020, confronted with the knowledge that detectives knew he was communicating with Libby and her friends the night before her disappearance when Libby was at a sleepover.

Police: Umm you had told investigators umm and I know you say you don’t remember a girl that you ever talked to but I know you remember Liberty German?

Kline: (inaudbile)

Police: Right and you know you talker to her and you admitted to talking to her? And-

Kline: I don’t think I ever did though. I think I talked to one of her friends like I told them. (inaudible)

Police: You, you admitted you talked to her-

Kline: (inaudible)

Police: -for a few hours at a sleepover and then you blocked her because she was annoying You remember?

Kline: You’re right, yeah.

Police: You remember that?

Kline: Yeah.

A couple of pages later in the transcript, the trooper confronts Kline saying that Anthony Shots was supposed to meet Libby on the Delphi High Bridge the day she died.

“See I don’t remember ever saying to meet up with me though,” Kline responded.

Earlier, the trooper quoted Kline’s message to another person after he learned about Libby and Abby’s murder where Anthony Shots wrote “Yeah, we were supposed to meet but she never showed up.”

“That’s a d*** lie,” Kline said.”

“What are these new transcripts that have come to light?
The Murder Street podcast obtained transcripts of interviews with Kline that were briefly posted on a Miami County court website earlier this month. They include an interview involving Kline, a state trooper and a sheriff’s deputy from August 2020.

The transcripts show the anthony_shots account had interacted with Libby German, the first time we’ve explicitly learned of an interaction between anthony_shots and either of the girls. When investigators confronted Kline about a supposed meeting with Libby on the Delphi High Bridge, Kline said he didn’t recall such a plan.

Another set of transcripts involved an interview between Kline and HLN producer Barbara McDonald. The jailhouse interview was conducted on Dec. 9, 2021. In the interview, Kline said he doesn’t think he’ll be charged in connection with the Delphi case.

He also told McDonald he believed investigators were trying to pin the murders on his father.

According to the transcripts, investigators knew Libby German was interacting with anthony_shots at a sleepover the night before the murders. Police believe she was “completely enthralled” with the online persona.

Kline told investigators he didn’t exchange photos with Libby. He did, however, say he received photos from one of her friends who was at the same sleepover.”

Delphi murder investigation anthony_shots social media profile Yellow Yubo

“DELPHI, Ind. — Investigators looking into the murders of Abigail Williams and Liberty German are asking for information about another online profile linked to the anthony_shots account.

On Monday, the Indiana State Police said investigators are looking to expand the list of social media applications used by anthony_shots. This is the social media account that has been connected to the Delphi murder case.”

[...]

“Also in the transcripts, Kline said gave the password to the account “to a lot of people”. In another interview, Kline said his father had access to the account.

The Delphi Double Homicide Task Force says the profile was used on the social media platform that once went by the name of Yellow. It is now called Yubo.

This app was designed as a social networking site to make new online friends when it launched in 2017. However, The Irish Times reports it came under fire among child protection experts who dubbed it “Tinder for kids” warning it could be a potential “free-for-all for sexual predators.” It has since been rebranded as Yubo.”

Delphi murders investigation expands to Yellow or Yubo social media

“Indiana State Police investigating the Delphi killings of Libby German and Abby Williams asked people to call detectives if they ever had contact with the profile anthony_shots on a social media platform called Yellow, currently known as Yubo.”

[...]

“Investigators would like any individual who communicated with, met or attempted to meet the anthony_shots profile to contact law enforcement by by calling the tip line at 765-822-3535 or by emailing the tip line at abbyandlibbytip@cacoshrf.com

Delphi investigation Libby German grandmother transcript anthony_shots reaction

“In the beginning, they were rumors that maybe this could be social media related and then we were led to believe that it wasn’t social media,” Becky said. “I was afraid to maybe accept that it was social media because then I let them down. I didn’t catch it.””

[...]

““It shows us that maybe they’re narrowing things down a little more specific,” Becky said. “We don’t know where this is leading, and we don’t know what causes them to ask for this.”

[...]

Becky said she and her family are still shocked at what those transcripts revealed. She said they had no inkling that Libby was planning to meet someone when she asked to go to the trails the last day anyone saw her or Abby Williams in February 2017.”

[...]

“She is asking that parents go through their kids’ old phones to see if they had any contact with the “anthony_shots” account.”

Libby German's grandfather reacts to latest police investigation | wthr.com

"It was shocking to me," said Libby's grandfather, Mike Patty.”

[...]

“I've been led to believe all along by the police this entire time that there wasn't information there. Obviously, that was a piece of information they were holding tight to their vest," said Patty, speaking about his granddaughter's online activity.”

[...]

“"You can't negate the fact that they are very interested in this account and who had access to that and who was using that account and is there a there, there? Potentially. Potentially. But again, I got to rely on the investigating team," said Patty.”

[...]

“"Here's an opportunity to help and really aid in this space and help in this case," said Patty, adding he believes it's the public's help that will finally help investigators connect the dots they need to get justice for his granddaughter and Abby Williams.

"It's what's gotten us to this point. It just keeps taking us further and collectively with everybody's help, we're going to get this guy," said Patty.”

14. Episode 87: Murder Sheet: The Delphi Murders: On Internet Predators on Apple Podcasts
April 12
In this episode of the Murder Sheet, we will speak to journalist Cathy Frye about the murder of 13-year-old Kacie Woody.
Recent developments in the Delphi murders indicate that an online predator may have played a role in the double homicide of 14-year-old Liberty German and 13-year-old Abigail Williams. Predators have been known to use the internet to catfish, groom, and prey upon underage victims.
In this episode, the Murder Sheet will interview Cathy Frye about one such case that happened in Arkansas in 2002. A 47-year-old man named David Fuller posed as a young man online. He used that persona to grow close to a 13-year-old girl named Kacie Woody. Then, the unthinkable happened.”
