I read Blythe's posts about JW and the call. Very good.

So now I'm revisiting the quote below. The word "forged" has made an impression ever since I first read it. It may be an overstatement; it may be accurate and reflect a connection. (And I'm well aware of all our discussions about there being no evidence JW/JR were close.)

"Friendships forged four years ago at the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity house on the IU campus may play a role in this investigation. It was at the AEP house that Spierer's boyfriend, Jesse Wolff, met Jay Rosenbaum."

I don't believe JW was sleeping all night. I don't necessarily believe he did anything sinister, even inadvertently, but I also can't come up with a reason he and JR might protect each other. Drugs is the obvious. Maybe it's as simple as JW went to pick her up at JR's and did some coke while he was there. Then something happened.

Interesting thing is he probably wouldn't have to sneak out at that point because he doesn't know the peril. But yeah right about NR RIP. Her injury took a few days.

Oh, yes ... I see. Unless something happened that was premeditated, which makes no real sense, he wouldn't be sneaking out! I blame my own lack of sleep last night for that one!

This is a good thing. So it wasn't you who posted the other day about going on vacation and not wanting to leave WS? :) I did notice your absence btw.

Lol-thx for noticing. After being up super late every night for over a month obsessing on Lauren my mind finally shut down and i SLEPT! But she is always on my mind.
I know which post ur referring too tho.

Are there any rumors that have circulated involving JW and use of hard drugs? Are there any reports of JW being friends with JR?

Also, it is interesting to me, that although JR is from MI, all of his roommates are from NY/NJ.

I wonder where he went to summer camp?

I didn't see Lauren's thread at the top when I clicked on the forum and got so excited that this mystery might have been solved. Alas. :(

I'm afraid the case may go cold now. No new news in a while, no breaks or big pieces of evidence found, at least known to the public. I'm beginning to fear that unless someone cracks, we may be sitting here for a while wondering what happened to her. If she is indeed in a landfill, which is where I'm almost certain she is, she may never be found. It's so sad. I feel for her family.

JR said that he actually saw her turn the corner at College Avenue; therefore, we can assume that she would have been heading southward in the direction of 10th & College.

One media article mentioned that several of LS's girlfriends lived in the apartments at Tenth & College. (Sorry, can't find link.)

If she had wanted to go back to Smallwood, she probably would have taken the shortcut through the alley.

Is there any apartment building on College Avenue between 11th and 10th that someone can enter without being recorded on camera?

That could work if JW snuck out, etc. Maybe she had a heart-related issue? I believe I've read that long QT syndrome can be triggered by the unexpected, i.e., being frightened, etc. I guess there's no way of knowing whether she was taking her medicine for that or not? The only question I'd have about a head injury is how often it causes immediate death (i.e., Natasha Richardson). But I suspect in some cases it does.

Long QT Syndrome is a deadly condition. A friend of mine lost her 9 year old son to it. Another friend lost her 38 year old husband to it. Most times it is not diagnosed until autopsy, unless they are lucky enough to have an AED nearby. Happens often in athletes that just drop dead. Easily diagnosed by an ECG - a prolonged QT interval. Most are treated with an implanted defibrillator, others just medication. She was lucky enought to have had this diagnosed. I have no doubt that if she were doing drugs and drinking, her heart condition was a contributing factor in her death. JMO

I implore you to find one single case, in the entire history of missing persons cases, where a significant other (without an iron clad alibi) is not suspected to some degree. This does not mean JW is innocent, but reading into him as a suspect and guessing why he is a possible suspect is overlooking the reality that all people close to a victim are looked at, unless they can be 100% ruled out. If LS were 13, and had dissapeared from her parents house, they would be considered POI's or even suspects unless there were a clear alibi.

While I agree with you that most boyfriends, husbands, lovers are POIs from the get go, they are usually turned suspect or eliminated by way of evidence pointing to another source, POI. He alleges he was sleeping, per his roommate's, yet his roommate was sleeping as well. IMO, there must be more compelling evidence against JW to qualify him as a POI after a house, car, person search and polygraph. LE investigations are usually meant to narrow down the focus to the actual murderer, wrongdoer, person hiding the body, yet it seems to me that they aren't eliminating JW, even after passing a polygraph.

We know that the CR/JR/MB crew are still in the watchful eye for the mere fact that Lauren was there and apparently JR saw her leave. Then we have the ones involved in the Smallwood altercation. What we don't know is WHO is on that video that they are keeping mum on. IIRC, the apts of JR and CR/MB were searched as well as JW's house. I'm sure LS's apt was searched as well. I have not heard of any other searches but I may be wrong. Were AB, ZO, DR and AA's apts or homes searched?

IMO, JW went looking for his girlfriend that night. IMO, he talked to HT who filled him in on Lauren making some poor choices that night and since he was unable to reach her by phone, he went by foot or car.

Can someone remind me of JW's initial remarks? TY.

IIRC, the words he used were, Lauren is missing. Mrs. Spierer speaks of that phone call and hearing those words. I mentioned it before and I'll mention it again, Scott Peterson did the same thing, used those same words.

My question is what did JW do that morning, aside from driving his roommate to class, picking up LS's cell phone from the bar and making some phone calls to ascertain that Lauren was indeed "missing," as opposed to passed out at someone's apt that he did not know of yet.

What time did that phone call take place?

Bold is mine.

Agree about CR. He was so open on camera that first week--almost giddy when he said I was not the last to see her. What I have in mind generally for a JW/JR scenario centers around JW going to JR's looking for LS. Maybe he is po'ed and inadvertently causes her to fall or yanks her arm and she hits her head again. Death not directly attributable to an OD.

And let's say that is the activity that appears at about 3AM on the video that we are not privy to and the reason that JW remains a POI.

Good morning! Websleuths virgin here, been following these threads for weeks now and I have learned SO much from you guys about drugs, cellphones, ploygraphs, etc. First let me say thank you very much.

This question is for those of you that reside in Bloomington...

Rumor from the PT board has it that there are no flyers of Lauren posted around campus anymore. Is this the case?

I really don't find that choice of words from JW to be odd. If she's passed out at someone's apartment, she's still "missing"....

Wow, sorry to hear about your/your friends' losses. That's sad (and scary). I wonder, again speculative, if LS could have had a long QT syndrome attack that was mistaken for an OD by someone who didn't know she had the disease. What a tangled and horrible web that would be. I can see why she wouldn't share the info about long QT syndrome with everyone ... but it might have helped for others to know, after the fact.

I am not local so do not know about the posters, but welcome to Websleuths!

Welcome to Websleuths!

I'm local, but I avoid campus as much as possible so IDK.

Downtown Bloomington there are lots of the Lauren posters down from weather, etc., but many are still up.

I would like to see these videos. Do you have any links? Thanks!

It depends where your injury is. A person can live - in the sense that vital functions will continue - without a lot of their brain. Vital functions like heart rate, blood pressure, & respiration don't necessarily need a lot of our cortex. They are controlled by central pattern generators ([ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_pattern_generator"]Central pattern generator - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame])* in the brainstem & spinal cord. [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spinal_cord"]Spinal cord - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia@@AMEPARAM@@/wiki/File:Spinal_cord_direv.svg" class="image"><img alt="" src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/5/58/Spinal_cord_direv.svg/200px-Spinal_cord_direv.svg.png"@@AMEPARAM@@commons/thumb/5/58/Spinal_cord_direv.svg/200px-Spinal_cord_direv.svg.png[/ame] For example, we had a rhyme to help us remember which level of the spinal cord controls the diaphragm: "Cut C4, breathe no more." (Isn't that cheery?!)
