I found myself shouting at the video for them to hurry up. You see a couple people walking instead of running. This is just stuff you see in a movie!!

I watched the movie "Hereafter" last night. I had no idea there was a tsunami scene so realist! After seeing the Indonesian and Japenese disasters, I really couldn't cope with it. It was so realistic. I could cry forever.

Quoteing this again, because if you think real hard about it, it does make sense.

There are 2 big confusing things about the situation that sorta point to something fishy goin on over there. The first one is that for some reason, even though there wasn't any fuel in the reactor it still needed to be sprayed with water. Why? Could they have been possibly using the fuel that was in there to make weapons?

The second thing is, they have been using barges there under the cover of darkness that are protected by another ship. Why would they first the protector ship, then the darkness to move things around?

There is a third fishy thing I just remembered... there's this light that can be seen dimly on the nighttime web cam for the plant... They'd need light to move whatever it is their moving over there.

A fourth just occurred to me lol... just recently they upgraded it to a level 7 accident after being at 5 for so long. At level 5 it is still local and Tepco has control over it. At level 7 it becomes international so other countries can butt in, and if it was level 7 before now the other countries would have found out about whatever they were using reactor #4 for. They must have gotten everything out. If you are wondering where they move the stuff to with the barges... there is a very deep trench a bit to the east of Japan. Drop it down there and no-one's the wiser.

It sounds crazy, but it does kinda make sense.

Barge with a crane.

Swallowed by the tsunami: Horrifying new footage shows life and death race to outrun giant wave

The sheer panic of people trying to flee the Japanese tsunami has been captured in a newly-released video that shows the life and death race to outrun the wave.

The fate of some of those in the footage is unknown as the water rises so quickly that they simply disappear in the swell carrying cars and buildings.

Residents from the town, believed to be called Minami-sanriku, are seen running up the side of a hill to safety as the water behind them closes in on them.

I broke down... this is the most horrific scene I've ever witnessed.

Tidbits:

The Tokyo Electric Power Company, or TEPCO, says the water temperature in the spent fuel storage pool at the No. 4 reactor in the crippled Fukushima nuclear plant has risen to about 90 degrees Celsius. It fears the spent fuel rods may be damaged.

TEPCO took the temperature on Tuesday using an extending arm on a special vehicle. It found the temperature was much higher than the normal level of under 40 degrees. The company thinks the pool's water level was about 5 meters lower than normal, but 2 meters above the fuel rods.

TEPCO says high levels of radiation at 84 millisieverts per hour were detected above the water surface, where radiation is rarely detected.

The storage pool at the No. 4 reactor has housed all the fuel rods that were in operation at the reactor due to massive engineering work there.

University of Tokyo Professor Koji Okamoto says the temperature of 90 degrees indicates that cooling is continuing, although some of the water in the pool may be boiling.

Okamoto says high radiation indicates the possibility of radiation leaks from damaged fuel, and called for the evaluation of water sampling to determine how the situation should be tackled.

Pet rescuers brave Fukushima danger zone

Quote: Gallaon-Aoki and others like her have been slipping into the 20-km radius around Fukushima Daiichi to retrieve pets and feed livestock left behind when their owners were forced to evacuate. Pet owners have sent her group their addresses, accompanied by pleas to rescue their animals, left behind when they fled for what was supposed to be a short time.

Nuke plant workers fear water poured on reactors could overflow and leak radiation

Quote: The workers are unable to cool it down sufficiently because they are only pouring on an amount of water that evaporates from the fuel pool, to prevent it from overflowing.

and

Of the 1,331 fuel assemblies stored in the pool of the No. 4 reactor, 548 are new and therefore they could generate more heat than ordinary spent nuclear fuel.

and

A high level of radiation -- 100,000 times the normal level -- was detected in the atmosphere about 6 meters above the fuel pool.

I fear they are losing their grip on #4. Lots of airborne contaminates. :(

Japan Tsunami rubble will reach west coast

Quote: Oceanographer Curt Ebbesmeyer has said that it would take about three years before West Coast residents begin to see trash stemming from the tsunami aftermath.

Whole buildings, boats and even cars have been seen floating well out to sea off eastern Japan following the tsunami.

I imagine this will be costly!

Feeling the Aftershocks Within

Quote: Aguri Suzuki, a 44-year-old real estate agent, says she sometimes thinks the ground is shaking even when it is not. When she sees a tree branch swaying in the wind, she worries there has been an earthquake.

Doctors here say they are seeing more people who are experiencing such phantom quakes, as well as other symptoms of “earthquake sickness” like dizziness and anxiety.

Do you mean the one with the pocketbook? I know its not funny but I did find it amusing(as ridiculous as that sounds),as it was such an old lady thing to do. Carry your pocketbook while you are literally running for your life.

yes, running from the roof... also at about 2:22, did you see the water coming out of the tunnel with all the cars that had probably JUST driven through!! WOW! is all I can say about that video!!

Folks are working to help pets/livestock in the evacuated zone!

There's also a video at the main cnn.com page, but I can't bring myself to watch it. I watched the youtube video essies posted earlier, and I don't want to break down again tonight.

Oops, sorry, Quiche--I missed that you had already posted this. Thank you!

http://english.kyodonews.jp/news/2011/04/85404.html CHIBA, Japan, April 14, Kyodo

A child evacuee from an area near the troubled nuclear power plant in Fukushima Prefecture was bullied by other children, who taunted him, saying he could infect others with radiation, an education board in Chiba Prefecture said Thursday.

After learning about the incident through an anonymous phone call, the board in the city of Funabashi instructed 83 local elementary and middle schools to tell their students to be kind to the evacuees and be considerate of their feelings. An anonymous caller said a sibling of a pupil at a Funabashi elementary school, who took refuge from the Fukushima Daiichi plant, was harassed by other children in mid-March at a park in the city, according to the board. The board said it urged the schools to work with their pupils' parents and other guardians to prevent children from acting impulsively after being influenced by grown-ups' own anxiety about radiation.
