The name Jose Baez is a somewhat common name for Cubans...close to a John smith. Jose is probably top ten for hispanics. So if searching the name jose baez you will get lots of hits. But does not mean is the same guy.

Ironically, escorting Casey home yesterday, caused Mr Jose Baez to be tardy to defend another client of his, Nilton Diaz, against manslaughter charges. Those charges pertained to the two-year old daughter of his girlfriend at the time.

Snippets from article,
Man sentenced to 15 years in death of girlfriend's daughter:

Diaz, 30, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for manslaughter.

He and defense lawyer Jos Baez proclaimed his innocence and blamed the child's mother, Samaris Bobe Silva, who participated in the proceedings by phone from her home in Puerto Rico.
Baez called the sheriff's probe of the child's death "a one-night, one-sided investigation," suggesting the more likely suspect was the mother, whom he criticized as "cold" for not attending the hearing in person. He said she "couldn't even bring herself to cry" during her telephone testimony.

Baez's words about how the child's mother couldn't even bring herself to cry, might come back to bite him in his butt! :bang:

A bit of a coinky-dink, I think!

Very interesting. I wonder how many child killers he is defending at any given time?

It's my understanding that Casey has never been in general population ......right ??? So how could she have gotten JB number from a fellow inmate ??

I have a feeling she knows one of his kids, who allegedly went to the same school as Casey.

I find this EXTREMELY interesting, that Casey picked this particular lawyer to represent her, and pretty quickly after being arrested.

Now I'm wondering if she researched lawyers before being arrested and picked him because of this case.

Hopefully LE has done forensic analysis on all computers involved and found these searches. If they were done BEFORE the 911 call, it seems like it would show some kind of intent or something?

I didn't see this posted here, but wanted to make sure you all caught it as it references the CA case.

TAVARES - Like a boxer trapped on the ropes, Nilton Diaz fought for his freedom Thursday. But he failed to convince a judge that he was innocent in the death of 2-year-old Noeris Vazquez, granddaughter of acclaimed Puerto Rican fighter Wilfredo Vazquez.

Diaz, 30, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for manslaughter.

He and defense lawyer Jos Baez proclaimed his innocence and blamed the child's mother, Samaris Bobe Silva, who participated in the proceedings by phone from her home in Puerto Rico.

"Ask God to forgive him because neither me or my family will," Silva told Lake Circuit Judge Mark Nacke through a translator.

Hopefully he loses another case as well,.... Casey Anthony's. I wonder how he sleeps at night defending baby killers? jmo

If I'm not mistaken, when you are first arrested you are in a holding cell, usually with other recent arrestees, either in the same cell or very close by.

it will be only a matter of time.

Casey's family will grow impaitent as will the Bounty hunter [ not her lawyer]
Casey will attempt to escape through the back door or window and get caught.
Is the back of the home watched also?

Look; the family will go along with it for a while but their tempers will emerge.
it will not be sweet for long.
I see a volcano brewing and that's because she will not ever say one word worth following a lead on.

This person is devoid of compasion and feelings.
Clever she is...
the family will implode!

That's just the way it is.
They also may ask for outside help in the form of a shrink?

To cope?
Because I really think Casey will keep her info to herself.
She is due for court in November...
no Caylee for Thanksgiving....family dinner.

no Caylee for Holloween around the neighborhood.

The family will wise up and admit Casey needs serious help...

I posted this on the general thread too, I saw a snippet this morning on Fox that Geraldo has interviewed JB on his boat. Does anyone have a link? TIA (to clarify, it's Geraldo's boat)

I think that the Anthony family will be solicited by a more experienced attorney who has a good track record with high profile cases. They will retain him and possibly keep Baez to work with him....(as he has the framework defense). jmo and theory

Maybe Geragos.

I've said this all along also EXCEPT I think they might wait right until the trial date & THEN fire the atty. so they can have more time while their NEW atty. prepares for the defense.

I even think they might pull that same stunt over & over until the judge grows impatient & declares NO MORE POSTPONEMENTS.

Just like Casey knew that it's in her own best interests to delay reporting Caylee missing & then refused to give LE any info that might lead them to FIND Caylee... I think she'll want to delay facing the trial. She has a track record of NOT wanting to deal with reality.

on the other hand, maybe a better high profile atty. doesn't want to touch this case with a 10 foot pole....because they couldn't win it.

Casey Anthony is not well received by the public and neither are her family. what ever happened to their spokesperson?

Just reported on wesh 2 news that Casey has been with Baez at his office all day and that they are still there.
I'm not an attorney so I have no idea was reasonable, but considering there is no new charges and no new evidence, what could they possible be talking about for hours on end???? Does he not have other cases?:waitasec::waitasec:

I think its terrible that the man who murdered the childl only got 15 years. He should never see the light of day out of jail. So perhaps Baez did a better job than we think to get such a light sentence. Can you imagine an innocent child who gets their head bashed in by their father is a crime only punishable by 15 years in prison?
