Thanks for the link. I was afraid this was an older guy (40 years old!) and not someone his own age. I think we can just wait till he becomes POI which I expect won't take much longer. I would be surprised if Andrew indeed left on foot, but of course it is good they are looking into it. All JMO.

I don't know if Andrew left the house on his own accord however it is not at all beyond the realm of possibility that the man was in fact intoxicated and did not want to drive or feigned intoxication hoping Andrew would stay the night. If that happened, it would not surprise me that an 18 y.o. did not want to spend the night and opted to walk.

One thing that concerns me more than anything else though is that the most recent article references the last phone call to his mother. any texts? kids text all the time and I would think if he left the man's house and started walking he'd be texting to see who was still up and where they were hanging out.

if he stopped all communications after that phone call to his mother, then this looks more like something went awry at that house.

an update from the blog Andrew's brother set up:

Got back from running around town. Went to Andrew's dorm and grabbed bunch of food he had there. Then went to a really shady hotel to make sure the management there is on the lookout for Andrew if for some reason he ever comes through there. Went back to the 24 hour place to see how that was going. We are just waiting to hear back from their manager now. On the way back went by a Kroger's where they thought they saw Andrew the night he went missing.

I wonder if the possible sighting at Kroger's was before or after 9 pm. not at all clear from the posting.

Andrew's brother added to his original post.

Edit: Sorry I wasn't clear. The Kroger sighting was at a time that would make sense if Andrew dropped by on the way to the guy's home. The description's the employees have make sense as well, but we were unable to find him on the video surveillance.

unfortunately I don't think this helps. I doubt the man drove to Kroger's for Andrew to run in to buy groceries before continuing onto his house so it probably was not Andrew.

I wonder if the family has been able to ascertain if any texts were sent after he was picked up around 9 pm.

I cannot find anything about Andrew's last text messages. Just that his cell phone is not on or the battery is dead.

To answer a few regular questions
•Yes, we have filed a missing persons report
•He has a couple distinguishing scars, a long scar runs down his left arm.
•He has never gone missing before. It would be extremely out of character for him.
•He loves being in front of a television/computer screen and he left both at his dorm.
•He did not have any enemies that we would know of or could even possibly imagine.
•He speaks softly and very little.
•His cell phone is either dead, or not on. We have tracked it as much as the phone companies are able to for his model.
•His credit card has not been used in anyway. We are working with our branch to monitor this.

"Louisville Police say they have interviewed the 40-year old man Andrew met with and have not named him as a suspect. In fact, they say they don't have any evidence of foul play. But John and Angela do worry that something bad has happened to Andrew. And they feel Louisville Police are not investigating the case more aggressively.

"Carmel has issued a search warrant for cellphone records. You know, the Louisville Police weren't really interested in doing that," Angela said."

Hopefully the Carmel PPD will look at the cell phone records and find out what Andrew's last calls and text messages were.

I feel so bad for his family. Andrew, please come home safe.

"We've had some people call in, either from the fliers we're putting up or from the Facebook event and say they've seen him," John Compton said. "But we've followed up on almost all of them and none of them really seem to pan out."

Andrew Compton graduated from Carmel High School and has been attending Culinary School at Sullivan University. But he's been missing since the Thursday before Halloween. The last time Angela Compton spoke to her son, she says everything seemed fine. But later that night, the Comptons and Louisville Police believe Andrew left his dorm room to go with a 40-year old man he had met on the internet.

In addition to searching the streets of Louisville, the Compton family is maintaining several websites related to the search. They include a Facebook page, another site for background information and photos, and another site for updates on the search effort.

Links to those sites are attached directly below this story.
Anyone with information is asked to call police in Carmel our Louisville.

Obviously the man Andrew was with could be responsible, but if Andrew did leave his house and attempt to walk the 3 miles back to school, and if he were intoxicated...his slight build could have made him an easy target for a robbery or anger-driven attack. There may also be the possibility that somebody lured him into a car, perhaps he got lost and accepted a ride. 3 miles is a long way to walk. Somebody familiar with the distance probably wouldn't have attempted it but, if he did walk, maybe he thought school was closer or just made the type of bad decision that happens when you are young and intoxicated.

I feel for his family and hope for the best.

Went back to the area where Andrew was last seen and posted a few more fliers. Random people on the street are beginning to recognize us. The amount of support we are getting is amazing, thanks everyone! Got called right after lunch for an interview with Fox41. Should be on television tonight at ten, this time with lots more footage of me for all my fans. You can now google "Andrew Compton missing" and find all sorts of relevant information and posts on random forums. Found a short story on the WIBC website from Indy. To answer another common question, Andrew's complete phone and text history has been obtained by us through AT&T. His last phone call was 7:38 Thursday night to his mother at his dorm before he went missing. There were no texts after that. We have some good things in the works that I can't talk about yet. I hope they prove promising soon.

Edit: I've been alerted that I am incorrect. We don't have the complete history of his texts yet. We don't have the content of the text or to whom they were sent, but we will get this shortly. It's a logistical nightmare right now here.

I'm not giving the 40 year old a free pass here, but from what we know about the email exchanges, they met at least once before. how psycho could the guy have been that Andrew and he met a second time?

if the night did not go as well as either thought, it would not be the first time one half of a date (male, female, gay or straight) said "I'm not giving you a ride home" or for that matter someone declining a ride from someone they wanted to get away from and I don't mean in a threatening way.

I think the answer of whether he left the guy's house lies in whether he was texting after 11 p.m. or midnight. I am certain that once the date was over Andrew would have been texting friends to find out what they were up to. If the texts stop shortly after 9 pm, then something went wrong at the house.

looks like I was typing my post while you were posting yours.

I hope the texts are clarified quickly. if they stop after 9, I would HOPE that LE uses that as some probable cause to get a search warrant for the guy's house.

It's such a scary time when these young people are out on their own for the first time.
Wishing Andrew's family a happy outcome.
