A man admitted Thursday that he supplied alcohol to a 15-year-old girl later found dead.

Jordan Hart, 21, pleaded guilty in a Kenton County courtroom to unlawful transaction with a minor. He was sentenced to six months probation and 40 hours of community service for giving the alcohol to Karen Kappelman...

The girl's family issued a statement saying that others were likely involved with transporting the teen and a friend from Walton to Covington for a party, but they said no other charges were likely in the case.

A woman whose 15-year-old daughter died a tragic death after a night of binge drinking in northern Kentucky is turning her personal pain into a lesson for other teens...

She joined the Boone County Alliance for Healthy Youth and has become one of the region's most fervent supporters of educating parents about the dangers of underage drinking, The Kentucky Enquirer reported. "I want to share this story because I want this to be a teachable moment," Kappelman said. "People don't think this will happen to them, and never did we expect this to happen to us"...

Since Kappelman has begun to speak publicly, she has discovered how difficult it is to educate parents. At a speaking engagement at a high school with an enrollment of more than 1,000, only two parents showed up.

I don't know. I'm from Kenton County. This case never sat right with me. But Danette is EVERYWHERE it seems.
