Massapequa connection to LISK

In September 2014, my daughter (then in her early teens) began online communication with "Megan," who my kid said was a former classmate who'd moved to Long Island. Fast forward to December 2014: My daughter told Megan we were heading to NY for a brief outing and as an aside, she mentioned that I used to travel from Tampa to Hauppauge for work for a former employer. Megan then offered that she lived in Massapequa and sent photos of a snow covered deck and yard in what appeared to be a nice neighborhood of ranch and split level style homes.

The week before our trip, my kid peppered me with odd questions: Are there tunnels in Penn Station? Are there dance recitals at Madison Square Garden? What kind of job would someone's dad do at the Garden? She also asked what her height, weight, and bust measurements were.

Once in Manhattan, my kid acted anxious, nervous and as though someone was watching her. After a day of this behavior and more odd questions, I got the truth: Megan wasn't a former classmate, she was an online stranger. "Megan" told my daughter that she had a dance recital at the Garden but because only 1 ticket was available, I couldn't go. My daughter was instructed to leave our hotel (which was across the street from MSG) while I showered, leave her cellphone and IPod Touch in the room, and meet Megan's middle aged father (who allegedly worked at MSG) at a men's restroom in Penn Station. The father would take my kid to the recital then home with him and Megan to Massapequa for dinner. My daughter tearfully admitted that the stranger knew where our hotel was and she was afraid for our safety.

I immediately contacted the police and the hotel manager. The police said since my child and I weren't physically harmed and because we were returning to FL the following day, we should "enjoy the night and be careful." The officer advised my daughter of stranger danger and the hotel manager allowed us to switch rooms.

Again, I can't in any way tie this to LISK but the locations (Massapequa, Penn Station, midtown Manhattan) coupled with the stranger's MO/grooming process/instructions struck an eerily similar chord. I once prided myself on monitoring my kid's online activity but this totally slipped past me. It breaks my heart that someone preyed on the LISK victims just as my child was hunted. I pray that these sick creatures are caught before they can ever hurt another human being.

This is so distrubing. LE understood the implications. They deliberately dropped the ball. How many kids became victims after the fact? Sickening. The Fire Dept is New Yorks Finest.
 
I offered my daughter's phone and Ipod, social media passwords, and printed chat transcripts to the NY police but they declined them. Their position was that we were from Florida, we were headed home and since a crime hadn't occurred, we could pursue action in FL if need be.

When we got home, I contacted local police who identified Tampa and St. Pete- the I4 corridor-as a major hub for human trafficking. However, they too declined to help. I then contacted the Pinellas county school board suggesting a program for parents about online predators but they declined, saying it would upset people. I reminded them that this was real life, not a Lifetime movie, but to no avail.

My daughter wouldn't talk about this until we watched The Killing Season. She is heartbroken for the victims and is grateful to have dodged an unknown monster. Just this past December, we were in NY and I took her through every inch of Penn Station. She realized how easily something could happen and despite the crowds, no one would see or care.

The person who found my kid online did so by posing as a teenage fan of Ariana Grande and used the singer's photo as their profile photo. The photos the individual showed of the snow covered yard included a dark Toyota Tacoma truck in the driveway, which adds to my belief that the predator is male.

THank God your daughter is safe and came to you with the information, you obviously raised her with the right information and awareness that she was able to come to you with her suspicions. You are a successful parent.

Absolutely frightening story. It gives me chills. Even how could the police do nothing?!
 
I watched a documentary the other night and it reminded me a lot of Megan's case. According to the documentary, a lot of pimps will "boyfriend" into a girl's life. In an effort to please him, she'll do sex work. It explained that having the boyfriend as the pimp gives the pimp yet another psychological advantage.

I saw a documentary called Americas Dirty Little Secret. It was about two cousins that were abducted on their way home from school. They were forced into having sex at truckstops. A trucker called LE. They were rescued. Whats happening in the US is a secret? Why? All students should be made aware of the dangers. Thats not going to happen because cowards make up the school boards. Tampa school board is a perfect example.

Hi ScorpioSleuth and DeeDee, your posts above remind me too of a movie with Brittany Murphy, The Dead Girl. (Maybe this should go in HodgePodge but wanted to respond to you here). SK in this movie has storage unit that he keeps all the victims (sex workers) items in. Interesting because I've read the posts that speak of the industrial site that SK may be involved with. Just a thought of course.

This is the same woman referred to in the article? Didnt kidnapping use to carry life?. I notice the article is dated 2005. And most Americans still dont know this is going on in this country. This has to change.

I found this disturbing..from news article in 2013.. These folks rented a house in "Massapequa" and set up their million $ Int'l escort business.

As the MrsPC stated MSG is very near this gentleman's place of work and Times Sq is not a far walk from his work. I am new here so I don't have all of the details but has anyone ever found out who this ex-con was? I think the timeline thing needs to be explored more also. Retiring, arrested, files for bankruptcy can we correlate any of dates with disappearances to keep or eliminate him in anyway. He's also obviously not far from North Babylon where I believe Amber was last seen.
I think it's very good work on the initial find MrsPC. According to the same thread I posted about there was a map showing the locations of MB and MBB are all within short distance of this work address. But should be mentioned that on the business site it lists him as the WH Manager and WH is in Hunting Station on LI. So if he is the WH Manager he is more likely at the LI location more than the Manhattan one.
