SNOW HILL -- The first-degree murder trial of a Texas man charged in the death of a Delaware woman reported missing in Pocomoke in 2007 was postponed this week after new DNA evidence in the case recently came to light.

The trial of Justin Michael Hadel, 20, of College Station, Texas, was scheduled to get started Tuesday but was postponed after the new evidence had not been reviewed by the defense. The trial was laid in for three days from Tuesday to Thursday, but has now been moved back to June.

Murder Trial Starts Today for TX Man Accused of Murdering Milford Woman in Pocomoke

I didn't realize that Christine's body had been found. (must of missed this last year) I am so sorry for her family, but glad they have closure. I travel through Snow Hill MD when I go to Ocean City Maryland.

RIP Christine

This case is so perplexing. What was the motive here? It's tragic that she went to stay with people she really didn't feel safe with. Sounds to me like they were a bunch of creepy drug addicts. Why was she there in the first place...? And what was this kid from Texas doing there, and why did he feel the need to kill her? I'm glad it was solved and justice was done although he should've gotten the DP......

RIP Christine.....

Justin Michael Hadel, 24, had his 2011 murder conviction overturned in a decision by the Maryland Court of Special Appeals, and the case was reopened in Worcester County. He is scheduled to appear March 13 in Circuit Court to inform prosecutors of his decision to accept or decline a plea deal.

If he takes the deal – the details of which have not been made public – then a sentencing date will be scheduled. If he declines the deal, then the case will come back for retrial later this year.

Thirty years behind bars. That is what 24-year-old Justin Michael Hadel is facing in Worcester County after pleading guilty Friday to the 2007 murder of Christine Sheddy...

In exchange, the state will seek a life term with all but 30 years suspended when Hadel is sentenced on April 9.

Two alleged accomplices in the Sheddy case, Clarence Jackson and Tia Johnson, were given prison sentences in 2012 after being charged with being accessories after the fact in that they helped to move and conceal the victim's body after her murder.
