It appears that Oscar Pistorius has a history of violence......

A senior police officer reacted with surprise yesterday morning when he heard of reports that Pistorius had shot his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp at his Silver Lakes home in Pretoria. He said that the Blade Runner should not have been allowed to own a firearm with his history of domestic violence.

The senior officer, who asked not to be named, said in terms of the Domestic Violence Act, Pistorius should not have been allowed to possess any firearms. “Taking his past history of domestic violence in consideration, his firearm licences should’ve been reconsidered.”

In 2009 Pistorius spent a night in police custody when he was arrested on charges of assaulting a 19-year-old woman in the same house as the one in which Steenkamp died. He was arrested on a Saturday night after he allegedly assaulted Cassidy Taylor-Memmory.

So she was in the bathroom with the door closed and he shot her through the door? Am I reading that correctly?

Here's some of the story:

The gorgeous model was slain two hours after police were called to Pistorius’ upscsale home over a loud fight involving the couple, the daily newspaper Beeld reported Friday.

Steenkamp, 29, later fled to the bathroom in her boyfriend’s house before she was shot through the closed door with a 9-mm. handgun.

She was struck in the head, chest, pelvis and hand, the newspaper said. Steenkamp and the Olympian began dating about four months ago.

“I would just like to say, I have dated Oscar on/off for 5 YEARS, NOT ONCE has he EVER lifted a finger to me, made me fear for my life,” said Jenna Edkins.

“All I am saying is let him speak, let his side be heard without jumping to conclusions. Love and thoughts to Reeva’s family.”

But another former ex called Pistorius a “player.” Samantha Taylor, who dated Pistorius before she said he left her for Steenkamp, said, “Oscar is certainly not what people think he is. We dated for a year-and-a-half.”

She said Pistorius had a “way with women” and that Steenkamp was “probably not the only one he’s got.”

Taylor’s father also weighed in on Pistorius’ dark side.

“I have no sympathy for Oscar. I am just glad that my daughter is safe and that she got out of the relationship in time,” Henry Taylor was quoted in Beeld.

Former soccer player Mark Batchelor revealed he received an angry call from Pistorius after the Olympian discovered Taylor had become involved with multimillionaire TV producer Quinton van den Bergh.

Pistorius threatened to break Bergh’s legs and phoned the producer’s friends, including Batchelor, and patronizingly called him “boy” and swore at him, Batchelor told the Saturday Star.

Police find bloodied cricket bet at Pistorius home: report

http://www.thenewage.co.za/83325-1007-53-Police_find_bloodied_cricket_bat_at_Pistorius_home_report

Police have found a bloodied cricket bat at the home of Oscar Pistorius, a local newspaper reported on Sunday, following the Valentine's Day killing of his model girlfriend.

The star Olympian and Paralympian athlete was charged on Friday with the murder of 29-year-old Reeva Steenkamp who was shot dead at his luxury Pretoria home in a case that has gripped the world.

Police sources close to the investigation told the independent City Press newspaper that Steenkamp's skull had been "crushed".

"There was lots of blood on the bat," one source told the paper.

Police are investigating whether the bat was used to assault Steenkamp, who was shot four times in the early hours of Thursday, or if she used it to defend herself.

"The suspicion is that the first shot, in the bedroom, hit her in the hip," one source was quoted as saying. "She then ran and locked herself in the toilet. She was doubled over because of the pain. He fired three more shots. She probably covered her head which is why the bullet also went through her hand."

Some articles imply there was a lot of blood on the bat, while others say there were traces.

"Detectives are working on two other theories concerning the bat: that it was either used to break down the door of the bathroom where she hid, or that she used it to defend herself against Mr Pistorius, South Africa's City Press reported. One bullet cartridge was found in the champion sprinter's bedroom and police are looking at whether he "chased" his girlfriend and fired the first shot before she locked herself in the bathroom and he fired three more through the door, the paper said."]Detectives are working on two other theories concerning the bat: that it was either used to break down the door of the bathroom where she hid, or that she used it to defend herself against Mr Pistorius, South Africa's City Press reported. The latest story in the media is that Reeva was shot once in the hip in the bedroom and the other three shots were in the bathroom. Two shooting locations PLUS a weapon that must be used in close quarters?? Intruder, my foot! MOO of course.

The New Age article linked by squeaky mentions their source as this local news media: City News. Here is a link to a graphic at their site with a timeline and description of the scene.

From what I've read:

Police were notifed of loud shouting, arguements at Pistorius's home 2 hours prior to Reeva's death

She was shot 4 times in the head, hand, hip, chest while she was in th ebathroom

Now there are reports of a bolldy cricket bat and Reeva's skull was hit several times, opening up her skull

It's always a tough thing to have a solid relationship between two high profile celebs

A major South African newspaper is reporting that a bloodied cricket bat found at Oscar Pistorius' home supports the charge he killed his girlfriend of four months.

The City Press cites sources close to the investigation who said the skull of 29-year-old model Reeva Steenkamp was "crushed" when police arrived at the scene of the Valentine's Day murder.

Miss Steenkamp was said to be still breathing as security guards, neighbours and Mr Pistorius' family gathered, and he tried to give her mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

But once police and paramedics arrived on the scene, she was declared dead.

According to a source cited by City Press, Miss Steenkamp was wearing a nightdress, an overnight bag was found at the house and her iPad was on the bedroom floor.

"It was clear that both of them had slept in the bed," the source added.

The holster of a 9mm pistol similar to the weapon recovered by police was found on one side of the bed, the paper said. A bullet cartridge was also reportedly found in the bedroom and police are investigating whether Mr Pistorius fired one shot then "chased" Miss Steenkamp to the bathroom.

"The suspicion is that the first shot, in the bedroom, hit her in the hip," one source was quoted as saying. "She then ran and locked herself in the toilet. She was doubled over because of the pain. He fired three more shots. She probably covered her head which is why the bullet also went through her hand."

Police asked for blood taken from Mr Pistorius to be tested for steroids, City Press claimed, in anticipation that his defence team might claim he acted in "roid rage" – an aggressive condition associated with taking large doses of performance-enhancing drugs.
