Prosecutors have withdrawn a man’s guilty plea in the fatal shooting of a University of Michigan medical student.

Washtenaw County prosecutors reinstated all charges against 21-year-old Shaquille Jones of North Charleston, South Carolina. Prosecutors say he will face trial in the 2013 death of Paul DeWolf after he violated the terms of the deal by refusing to cooperate with them... He could now face mandatory life in prison if convicted of murder.

The murder trial for Dajeon Franklin, 22, accused of shooting and killing University of Michigan medical student Paul DeWolf in July 2013 continued Tuesday morning.

The jury heard from several of DeWolf's roommates, colleagues and neighbors as the prosecution established how the body was found in the basement of the Phi Rho Sigma medical fraternity home at 220 N. Ingalls St. in Ann Arbor July 24, 2013...

Later in the morning, the prosecution was expected to play a roughly 45-minute long interview with Franklin's co-defendant, Shaquille Jones, who testified against Franklin at a preliminary examination, but has since stopped cooperating. The tape is being played in lieu of his testimony.

The jury deciding the fate of 22-year-old Dajeon Franklin, accused of firing the gun that killed 25-year-old University of Michigan medical student Paul DeWolf, was shown graphic photos of the crime scene when the trial continued Tuesday morning.

Dozens of DeWolf's friends and family cleared the courtroom to be spared of the experience of seeing DeWolf crumbled in a pool of his own blood wearing only running shorts before his double bed...

Prosecutors allege the three burglars stumbled upon DeWolf, who was sleeping in his basement bedroom. DeWolf and Franklin, who was the only one with a gun, struggled. The gun went off and fatally hit DeWolf in the neck, according to the prosecution.

One of the last people to see University of Michigan medical student Paul DeWolf alive took the stand to testify in his own defense Friday afternoon...

Longsworth introduced text messages Jordan sent to co-defendant Shaquille Jones six weeks after DeWolf's death. At one point during the exchange, Jordan wrote the message: "We are takers." Longsworth asked Jordan to explain the message.

"We were thieves over the summer," said Jordan, who wasn't denying that he broke into houses. What he denied was having any knowledge Franklin was going to shoot and kill DeWolf when they startled him in his bedroom... Jordan testified the three men then fled and that he confronted Franklin while they ran away, asking him, "What the (expletive) did you do?"
