From the article:

"On Feb. 17, Lenawee County Prosecutor Jonathan Poer filed added charges of kidnapping and unlawful imprisonment to the custodial kidnapping charges filed in December. He now faces a potential life prison term rather than a maximum one year in prison."

:woohoo:

I'm glad he's not getting off easy on this one! Here's hoping the boys are found soon and justice is served! This case is what brought me to WS. I have been lurking here since November, and finally got the guts to join and post!

I read this paper a lot so I will post any updates I see.

Welcome to Websleuths, good to have you here!!!

Actually, I think he used the name "Underground Sanctuary" (one of the names he threw out there for the "organization" he CLAIMS to have given the children to.)

That whole area of NW Ohio is well known to me. There are railroad viaducts...where the rail goes over the highway (or visa versa) but nothing that you would call a "tunnel"....there are simply NO hills or mountains to tunnel under in NW Ohio....we are talking Flatlands.

All good thinking though CN2Souls.....we all need to keep asking questions.

If these boys aren't found or returned soon I think I will take a road trip and go check out the places that have been "tugging" at me since this case began.

I so want these boys to be alive.......

RTH

My Personal Opinion... HE did NOT give them to an Organizarion...

RBBM

That reminds me of the "les Carrieres de Paris", The Catacombs of Paris.

Are there any graveyards with Mausoleums or Crypts near where he lived?

I don't know if this has any connection to the missing brothers' case, but Michigan did have an underground railroad system that was used to transport slaves to safety. The underground railroad was an important part of Michigan history, and if you look at the map on the link below, you'll notice that there was a lot of activity in the southern part of the state where the Skeltons live.

Thank you BetteDE for finding that!
I for one found this interesting-

snipped- BBM
"A Michigan Quaker woman named Elizabeth Chandler was living in Lenawee County."

"The second route was from Toledo to Adrian to Morenci to Tecumseh to Clinton to Saline to Ypsilanti to Plymouth to Swartzburg to the River Rouge to Detroit."

Gonna have to do a little research ....this may be nothing, but then what else is there.
Maybe a clue to their whereabouts?

Well this Elizabeth Chandler is buried here- can't see cemetery very well
+41.939048 -83.979772
Need to locate more info on Hazelbank- if indeed it is near the family cemetery- which was where she lived
Maybe more info on Quaker meeting places/cemeteries

Raisin Township near Adrian is of possible interest

Does anyone recall if any searches were done north of Morenci, up around Adrian?
I 'm going to go back & check, but wondered if anyone remembers.

snipped-"An interesting rural community is still known as Quaker Valley. The Friends Cemetery there is the resting place of Laura Smith Haviland, one of the most notable Michigan operators of the underground railroad."

Are there any locals still getting on here that are familiar with the area????

Where are the Skelton boys?!

possible search areas
+41.92938 -84.0003 Heritage Park
+42.02250 -84.10747 Hidden Lake Gardens

hmm is there some link with what JS has said...as to area

+41.92925, -83.9551 chase rd, site of old Raisin Insitute, late renamed the Michigan Orphan Asylum...this is very near the old home of a famous Quaker woman known for her work in the Underground Railroad, on Wilmoth Highway.
the woods extend east & west of here....the eastern side being the aforementioned Heritage Park.
Might be worth searching. the area was known is/was known as Quaker Valley, also Peaceful or Pleasant valley.
May be stretch, using the words JS has spoken as clues, but those little guys are out there some where.

I don't recall Adrian being one of the search areas - not in the main ones anyway.

From the second article
The 39-year-old said he believes unspecified property that belongs to him was destroyed or taken from the Morenci (mor-EN'-see) home he once shared with his estranged wife, Tanya.

He's worried about property? Truly? Where are the boys, JS. Where are the boys?

The father of three missing Morenci brothers is going to defend himself in his upcoming divorce trial.

A lot more info in this article:
http://www.lenconnect.com/news/x13285066/John-Skelton-to-be-own-his-lawyer-in-divorce-trial

Including:
Skelton, 39, has been without an attorney in the divorce case since criminal charges were filed in December over the disappearance of the boys, Andrew, 9, Alexander, 7, and Tanner, 5. An attorney who had represented him withdrew from the case at that time. A public defender was appointed for Skelton in the criminal case after he stated he had no money to hire a lawyer.
The whereabouts of their children was not brought up Friday.

Judge Margaret M.S. Noe said a contempt charge for John Skelton’s failure to comply with an order giving custody to Tanya Skelton is being held in abeyance. The contempt issue will wait for a resolution of the pending criminal charges, she said.

Meanwhile, the criminal charges are also moving forward (from same article)

In the criminal case, John Skelton is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on March 28 before District
Judge James E. Sheridan. An examination date could be scheduled at that time if he and public defender John Glaser decide to ask for a hearing where the prosecution would have to present evidence to support kidnapping and unlawful imprisonment charges. The added charges filed in February carry maximum life and 15-year prison terms.

I just cannot believe these boys have not been found yet. I keep hoping I will come here and see they have been found. Prayers to their mom and the rest of the family.

Skelton's divorce going ahead
Tanya Skelton's divorce from the man who authorities believe abducted and killed their three young sons will proceed to trial as though the boys are alive.
In a pretrial hearing Friday in Lenawee County Circuit Court, Judge Margaret Noe said custody and shared parenting of Andrew, 9, Alexander, 7, and Tanner, 5, are among the issues that will need to be resolved in the divorce trial.
