When asked if the police know her cause of death, Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office Detective Lt. Jim Anuszkiewicz said police don't want to comment yet.
"We're trying to protect the investigation," he said. "We want to release as much information as possible, but we also don't want to jeopardize the integrity of the investigation."
He said not releasing certain information may help them with further interviews or other aspects in the investigation. It's an active, ongoing case, he said.
For now, that's fine with Tonya Jackson's sister, Nikeyta Evans.
"It's not like a TV show where they can solve it in one hour," she said. "I want them to go through it with a fine-tooth comb."
