They have to have an alternative (the regular ticket with that photo ID they tell you to bring in case of problems) in case the scanner malfunctions or a person has a handicap that prevents them from using the finger scanner. Can't discriminate against the disabled. Amputees, those with birth defects, those with e.g. rheumatoid arthritis would file a lawsuit - and win.

totally agree.....my daughter has amniotic bands on both hands....IE she is missing some fingers and parts of others. There is no way she could go through a finger print line like that.

From what I understand, it's not prints but measurements and markers that are unique to each person. So your daughter should be able to do this, and it would be specific to her.

I asked a friend who is a loss prevention specialist at our local Walmart how long they keep video tapes from the store's cameras all over the store. She said that they don't use tapes any more. That it's all digital video and it's saved on hard drive. She said that they keep video from registers at least six months.

I asked her if it varies at different stores. She said that, because of credit card fraud and check fraud and such, that they have to keep video at least sixty days, and that that would be the same at all Walmarts. She's worked at Walmarts in Arizona, Texas, and Mississippi.

Just relaying what she said.

I am 100% convinced that LE at the very least possesses video of Doug paying for the items.

If you want to see proof that walmart saves terabyte after terabyte of surveillance cam footage, read this:

Did they contact him at 8:00 or actually SEE him at his apartment in VA at 8:00?

LE said from the start they suspected she was in the company of her 'estranged' husband. I can't see them simply relying on a phone call when a possible abduction has taken place.

"Hello?"

"Hi, may I speak to Venus?"

"Sorry, she's not here."

"Well, this is kinda important. Do you mind looking around a little bit?"

"Ok, I looked under the bed and in the dryer and she's not here. But I did find those shades and my old hoodie I thought I'd lost."

"Ok, thanks for checking. By the way, can you recommend a good tow company .... ah... nevermind. My bad. Peace!"

I never even go to Walmart and I am aware that they have cameras everywhere, both inside and outside of their stores. It is another headscratcher to me that someone who has taken such care as to provide himself with an alter-ego would not think this part through, when it seems that part of his alibi depended upon the use of security cameras capturing "his" image in VA. Why so careful about cameras in one state and so careless in another, unless he is dressed in a way in OH/MI as to be unrecognizable? Are all video images in all states of a large man in a hoodie and shades and if so, who is who? Did imposter go north to abduct Venus and the real DS stayed behind to act as himself?

It is possible that the other DS does not (or did not at the time) know why he was playing dress-up. But if he now knows that it may have been to cover up a felony, he had best come forward, IMO. He can still be a huge asset to the prosecution's case and probably get immunity with a good lawyer, if he did not actually take part in the planning and was not the one in MI/OH.

PS-Doug seems to have the ability to move vehicles quickly between these particular states...maybe LE should consult him if they really can't figure out how to get that truck up there...

Hmmm. Interesting theory.

Doug impersonated himself!

Why... that's just so crazy it might work!

....Priceless.

I love it.

I didn't know the MSP could take so long to go and get a vehicle. I guess the whole time is of an essence is not the case here. I have to be honest here, not the first ball that MSP has dropped. We have a case from 1979, where we know the BF killed his GF, but never searched his vehicle either, or found her remains for that matter.
It isn't a high priority yet, probably they know well enough for preliminary case development and just need to get it done before trial. It could save (taxpayer) money, if it's a lower priority shipment.

I'm not sure that the vehicle that possibly transported Doug to MI, was seen near the home on that morning, left tire impressions, was used to transport Venus to wherever he took her and then return him home (containing damning evidence to boot) could be considered 'low priority'.

That article has been updated, and both the reporter's reference to Doug being back home at 8:00, and the reporter's reference to there being more than one imposter, have been removed.

http://www.wwmt.com/articles/margin-1377226-page-imposter.html

There's now nothing about Doug being back in Virginia, or 8:00, and the articles refers to one imposter:

but police say it wasn't Doug, but rather an imposter and a new person of interest in the case.

Thanks, that is what I was thinking. He'd need time to actually use the shovel.

I wonder if any fields have been recently plowed and planted on the family farm.

Actually I think the police realized how ludicrous their theory sounds and gave that info off the record.

If the original Doug bought the murder kit at Wal Mart. did he pay cash? The imposter(s) had all of his paperwork according to LE. Did the receipt show method of payment?
