MO MO - Ashley Martinez, 15, St. Joseph, 6 July 2004

He has to know what happened to her-he left with her but came back without her??? did he say where he last saw her?
and the car is missing?maybe he harmed her and got rid of the vehicle with her in it? or maybe he sold her into human trafficking.
she should be classified as endangered missing,
what business does a 32 year old have with a 15 year old?!

The case has made its way through two lead investigators but, as time has passed, tips to authorities have slowed to a crawl. The few leads coming in have failed to pay off.

"There's been rumors, but nothing concrete," Ms. Mack said. "There have been a few stories where people have come in and said stuff, but it's never panned out."

Ms. Mack said she believes there are people -- one person at least -- who hold the answer to what happened to her daughter. Her biggest hope is that someone will come forward. "I think there's some that may not think that what they know is important, but in this situation everything is important," she said. "Everything."

Sunday marked the 10th anniversary of the last time Mack saw her daughter, heading through the gated entrance to Krug Pool with her younger brother for a summer afternoon of swimming. “When I came to pick them up later, her brother was there but she was gone,” Mack said.

She gathered with family and friends Sunday night for a candlelight vigil in the pool parking lot. Maybe, she said, shining a light on the case, even all these years later, will shake loose new leads that “finally bring us the closure we seek.”

Last week, she planted a sugar maple tree for Ashley across the street from the pool.

A large crowd of family and friends gathered outside of Krug Pool in remembrance of the 10-year anniversary of her disappearance when Ashley, then 15, disappeared from the neighborhood pool. Ms. Mack said when she returned for her children, she never would have imagined Ashley not being there.

“I just can’t help and think that somebody knows something,” she said. “This is our plea from her family for anyone to come forward with anything that may help us bring her home.”

The remembrance service featured speakers from family members, a member with the St. Joseph Police Department, music and prayers for Ashley’s safe return in front of a large crowd seated near a Sugar Maple tree planted in Ashley’s honor last week. Although Ashley’s older brother Abel Martinez, then 17, was not with her at the pool 10 years ago, he remembered the last conversation he had with his little sister.

Thinking of Ashley today. I have always wondered if she was a human trafficking victim, and if she was taken wherever she was by her boyfriend at the time for that purpose.

It irks me that she was merely considered a runaway. NO CHILD SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A RUNAWAY!!

I think Christopher Hart (the guy she inititally took off with) needs to be questioned again. Aggressively. I guess he either killed her or got her into human trafficking.

From http://www.newspressnow.com/news/local_news/article_02cf44df-ac31-550d-b7f9-9a2f14c821f5.html:
Memories lingered for Mr. Martinez and his family as they remembered reports that Ashley got into a car with convicted felon Christopher Hart, then 32, who reportedly promised to take her to California. Although Mr. Hart remains in prison for other felonious convictions, he has never offered any answers into the disappearance of Ashley.

I tried to find Hart via the Missouri Inmate Search but doesn't seem to work somehow...

I came across Ashley's story on Facebook and of course came straight here. I was able to put in Christopher Harts name and got some of his information. Here are his aliases: Raymond Michael Price; Christopher Matthias Hart; Chris Hart; Christopher M Hart; Christopher Hart; Christopher Hart; Christopher M Hart

I tried the Inmate Locator again and it worked now. I think he knows what happened to Ashley...

A new search in a cold case
St. Joseph police are conducting an operation in the North End related to the disappearance of a teenager 13 years ago.

Police activities in the area of Huntoon Road and West Highland Avenue — just east of Interstate 229 — are connected to the ongoing missing person’s investigation of Ashley Martinez. The 15-year-old girl was last seen at Krug Pool on June 6, 2004.

oh no....Could that mean maybe he is talking now and said where he left her?

Bumping for Ashley. 2017 article I found that hasn't been posted here, yet.

In June of this year, police announced a search in connection with the case on the north side of St. Joseph. What it may have turned up remains unknown.

“I have no idea. I mean, the only thing he did tell me, the detective said, is it was of value. I mean, I’m not sure what he means by that,” Mack said.

News of the search spread through social media, and it did uncover something ... another story. The recent buzz surrounding the cold case prompted a possible witness named Julie Wahlgren — who says she's the cousin of Hart — to approach the News-Press.

“I’d heard of what had happened to Ashley and I knew a lot about what was going on. ... it was my cousin she went with,” Wahlgren said.

Wahlgren said she actually saw Hart and Ashley together on at least two occasions shortly before the teenager vanished.

“I remember going over to Chris’ house. He told me he met a girl. She was there, and he told me he’d met her at Krug Pool," Wahlgren recounted. "The next day, a couple days later maybe, I went back over there and she was there and they were talking about going to Oregon.”

Wahlgren said she agreed to go with them, but then backed out at the last minute.
