GUILTY MO - Eddie Salazar, 8 months, Carthage, 4 February 2010

O my goodness, here we go again. Same story, different verse. I thought of little Aveion immediately - hope the outcome is not the same.
Come on now, several adults in the house - yet no one woke up? Dad knocked unconsious, did not go to hospital? Two men all in black, cannot identify or describe? No other witnesses to any part of the situation?
I saw that someone here looked up a person with the same name and found criminal background.
Lots of questions at this point. We need their published names to check things.
Sound incredibly fishy. Hink meter on High.:waitasec:
Hope and prayers for this beautiful baby!

O and I forgot, LE towing vehicle only hours later IMO says something - they are investigating foul play.:eye:

Seven agencies comb Carthage and area for kidnapped infant
(Story Updated: Feb 5, 2010 at 5:10 PM CST )

One neighbor's dog did hear something.

"He barked around 11. I thought he just needed to go outside. Then the sheriff came to my door at midnight," said Pam Boswell.
...
The search area includes Kellogg City Lake in eastern Carthage and the Spring River that runs through the city. Dagnan said searchers are prepared to find Eddie either dead or alive.

Trains were stopped so clues might be found along the tracks. The Water Patrol inspected the lake and the river, which are within walking distance of the home. Dagnan said the search would continue throughout Friday night.

KOAM Update:

Updated Feb 5, 4:55 PM CST

By ELIZABETH MATTHEWS

Officials are saying they think the abduction of Eddie Salazar is an isolated incident and the suspects are strangers of the family. But they are still questioning family and close friends for more information.

"We are investigating as we always do any connections that friends and family members may have that may explain why someone would want to do this," says Carthage Police Chief Greg Dagnan. "Sometimes people don't realize the connection or it's a very weak or random connection and so we are exploring enemies, threats, things like that , that might have been made to the family, or any reason that we can figure out why someone would want to do this."

The officials have also stopped trains to search because there is a set of tracks very close to the house. Also, city trash services have been halted due to the investigation.

"We have searched almost all day and searches are still continuing in logical areas where if a child were still out in this weather where we could find the child, where a child might be dropped off or left, and those searches have expanded to even areas that may be aren't so logical, that just might be possibilities," says Chief Dagnan.

The officials are getting lots of leads and have been investigating those all morning long.

They are working on the assumption that the baby boy is still alive and will continue to work through the next 24 hours.

And, finally, Joplin Globe update:

Carthage police Chief Greg Dagnan, in a press conference this afternoon, told members of the media that the abduction of a Carthage boy does not appear to be a custody issue of any sort and officials are treating it as an abduction by a stranger.

The father was the only adult home at the time; the other was working.

Eddie's mother wasn't home but Dagnan, without going into details to protect the family's privacy, said it isn't unusual for her to be away from home at 11 p.m.

Um, is that a polite way to say what I think he's implying? :iamashamed0005:

6pm news video.

Was the dad home all evening? Where is Eddie's diaper bag? It's too cold out even in a well heated home, for a baby to be wearing just a tee shirt and socks. At 11:30 pm he'd likely be in bed and need at least a sleeper.

I'm impressed with this LE! They towed the vehicle, stopped trains and halted trash pickup and dumping, all within hours of the reported abduction. These guys are moving swiftly and it looks as if they are considering ALL possibilities.

Way to go LE!

An earlier report, not sure if it's correct:

Law enforcement official say the mother was at work when intruders broke into a Carthage family’s home and took an eight-month-old child after assaulting the father.

Anyone know who else was home at the time? I know its early, and not too much info is out - heck, we don't even know the names of the parents yet! What am I thinking?

The father and the toddler were the only two at home besides the baby.

I know. Remember the little boy who got lost in the woods in Missouri and how intense the search was ?
They leave no stone unturned when it comes to missing kids.

The father and the toddler were the only two at home besides the baby.
IIRC, there was a statement from LE that other adults were present in the home. Is that incorrect?

I went back and reviewed news report links, and it is stated that other adults were in the home but it is not stated who they were.

The Joplin Globe later reported, "The father was the only adult home at the time; the other was working." Initial reports seem to be in error.

From the latest Carthage Press update:

[Chief Dagnan] said a third party was caring for the family and meeting their physical and mental needs while police search for their child.

This may have caused the earlier confusion; apparently the third party arrived after the fact.

3 foot tall baby he cant be hard to find can he?

Search called off for the night. Will relaunch first thing in the morning.

"We're trying to determine who would want to do this, and why they would want to do it, and if there is any connection we can figure out to why someone would want to kidnap or abduct this child," said Chief Dagnon.

[snip]

While the foot search has been called off for the night, police say they will work all weekend if necessary to find a break in this case. At this point the department believes the infant is still alive.
