Music

No, I think you are thinking of Marvin Gaye. :D he was actually good. IMO :) Manilow was sort of smaltzy easy listening-type pop. On the same level as Kenny G, Donny Osmond & Abba. If you like that sort then Neil Diamond is actually the King in that category...IMO, again. Of course that is not my thing ;)

Geez....get it °on°

Nope Marvin Gaye is the Lets get it on guy...I love me some Marvin!

I am VERY versatile when it comes to music. So much so that it's easier for me to say what I don't like.

I don't like opera
I don't like heavy metal
and I don't like "twangy" country

Love me some Marvin too, his cover of "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" is chilling and his album "What's Going On?" is a time-withstanding classic.

Not to mention Sexual healing!

Inner city blues was the shyt!

I gotta figure out how to upload a video of his music...

I will...but in the meantime Rest peacefully Marvin!

Damn shame he was killed by his own fathers hands at the height of his career.

I like Manilow. Alot of solo artists and groups from yesteryear are still around. Their music is timeless. Theres 3 generations of people listening to the same. You dont really see any artist of today that will have that same longevity.

:tears:
Moon,
Your grandparents would most likely know this but just to clue you in on my husband's humor, Barry Manilow has a HUGE fan base in the transvestite community. something I never thought of when I brought poor heterosexual Harry with me to the concert.

:waitasec: Sorry to hijack your cool music thread with my Manilow story Native.

I'm moving on.... what's a Pearl Jam?

Shocking that I am going to chime in here eh? :heartluv:

While Oasis did not maintain their success in the US they still do sell records here, and are legendary overseas and sold out stadiums even when their fame waned in the States, all the way until their "retirement." I'm not naive because I'm a fan though, their pompous image blew up in their face in the States. They're not the first rock band however to have played that card, it just didn't work out in their case there, but they still produced great music. Not only that but their last two albums, Don't Believe The Truth and Dig Out Your Soul are fantastic. Sure, Liam and the rest of the most recent incarnation of Oasis play now as Beady Eye and Noel has his solo project, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds but I don't doubt that they'll get back together or as you said play a few gigs here and there. I actually have been really enjoying Noel's solo work myself.

Sure, I'm biased but I actually was pretty young when WTSMG came out and came to appreciate their body of work much later after jamming with friends, playing their most famous singles and deciding to do a little more homework and became a big fan.

That said, yes I'm also big 90s music fan myself. <3

Beady Eye is basically Oasis without the talent. I've heard their first album, and it wasn't bad, but far from anything I'd go back to again and again. Noel Gallagher was the brains behind the operation that was Oasis. I haven't got into his High Flying Birds material much, but I suspect at some point I will. The last Oasis album I thought was listenable is Heathen Chemistry. I didn't enjoy much after that personally. Oasis had one hell of a run. It's just over.

Here's another 90's gem. More proof that a woman can indeed do anything as well as a man.

My two favorite pearl jam songs are:
Wishlist

Last Kiss (a cover of of 1960s smaltzy/sappy song and Eddie Vedder just knew exactly how to make that song perfect.)

For some reason (possibly this thread) but I listened to Nirvana all week. "Lounge Act" was played the most I think. That song is so ****ing simple but its got that Nirvana twist to it and Cobains voice is a constant crescendo. Its sick.
