Thatsdopamine- heroin like everywhere else right now?

I hope this kid is found safe. I hope there are no drugs involved. I am not old, but drugs now are crazier than when I was in college.

On further investigation, I think there has been heroin and also prescription combination OD.

I think thatsdopamine was clarifying what type of drug problems have been an issue in that area amongst college students. (Please correct me if I misunderstood!) As far as I know, Martin still has not been found.

According to Google Maps, it's only a 6-mile walk from where he was last seen to the Trout Lake area.


I noticed that he was last seen in Boone just before the VA State Police announcement of finding a body (Nicole Mittendorf) in Shenandoah NP about 2:00 PM the same day. Probably coincidental.

This case will probably end up like so many white, college age boys. Found dead in the water, cause of death, drowning. But like so many others, he will have been dead when placed into the water or other mysterious circumstances. The smiley face killer or Missing 411 a sobering coincidence

Although the media reports do not include the last day/time he was seen, the Town of Boone Police Department FB page is reporting that he was last seen Thursday at 12:30. It is not noted if it was am or pm.

The High Country Crime Stoppers page says that Boone police have followed numerous leads and tips, but have been unable to locate Roberts or to determine where he went after 12:30 p.m.

"We are pulling every string to see where it leads," Sgt. Shane Robbins of the Boone Police Department told NBC’s Dateline. "We've had detectives working all weekend on this. And we're going to continue doing everything we can to find this young man."

Police hope hikers coming to Damascus for Trail Days this weekend can help find missing North Carolina man

Police expect more than 15,000 hikers to come off the Aappalachian Trail and stop in Damascus for trail days this weekend.

When they do, they will see the fliers of Roberts posted at businesses all over town.

Investigators do not know what Roberts was doing when he was last seen, but his family says he loves to hike. They're hoping a hiker may have seen him.

Police believe Roberts was with someone, and that person knows something that will help find out what happened shortly after April 21, the day Roberts vanished off the grid. "There are certain amounts of time out of his day that are unaccounted for, and we know that somebody out there knows about this. We would just like to put out there to that somebody, or persons, we would love to speak with you. It can be private. We just need the information."

Martin himself left a hand-written note for friends and family, however it offers few clues. "In the note, Martin doesn't specifically say what he's going to do. He just indicates he had some problems and he's just disconnecting."

now it sounds like the note perhaps said more than simply, "I'm leaving." Either that or bad journalism again, trying to sensationalize.

I dug into the depths of Google Search yesterday. I found in public records that he received a DUI last August. This would answer why he is at Caldwell, and was suspended from App. Now, my question is, was it confirmed that he would return to App in the fall 2016? I could see that being a reason to want to disappear if he was really counting on being accepted in the Fall.

Everyone makes a mistake, and especially in the Town of Boone they don't let you forget.

I was thinking about his disappearance a lot yesterday,and oddly enough at Lowes Hardware there was a guy sitting out front, tucked behind the adirondack chairs. I thought for sure this is him. Unfortunately, he did not meet the description. He looked about 180 lbs, very muscular, and probably 5'6-5'7.
