Monday, Sept. 24th:
*Hearing (@ ET) - NC - Lauren Ashley-Nicole Hugelmaier (29) (Sept. 1, 2017) - Matthew James Phelps (28) (husband) arrested & charged (9/5/17) with 1st degree murder. No bond.
GJ indicted for premeditated murder. Told 911 he took too much cold medicine, then woke to find his wife dead & a bloody knife in bed She was slashed & stabbed 123 times.
4/2/18: Search warrants were released. Had pretrial hearings on 10/23/17, 12/14/17 & 4/6/18.
9/10/18 Update: Hearing (M&A) set for 9/24.
 
Don't see a thing -- nothing on the docket, nada in the local or other MSM that I can find. So the whatever-happened on the 24th must not have been of consequence -- or it could be that something was planned or scheduled, but maybe it's just not on the schedule yet, or it's too far in the future to list on the online court docket. SMH. "The wheels of justice..." :(

I just blew in from a women's study class, turned on the tube and there he was. Looked like h*ll.
Hah!! He took a plea!
I'm gonna go back & read all about it.

BTW -- for the hellofit, I just checked the docket and his name is NOT on there, so they must have done this deal in a hurry -- plea procedures don't take long, as we've seen before, so I guess the judge and other principals were ready to go.

Wham bam, back to the slam -- but he will be moved from the Wake County Jail to the a state prison -- for life.
And just so you know, LWOP in NC means literally what it says -- Life Without Parole. The prisoner will be let out of prison horizontally.

"Prosecutors said the couple's checking account was drained and investigators said they found $1,200 worth of iTunes and XBox subscriptions -- money used to fund Phelps' video game play.

In an application to search a Matthew Phelps' iPhone, police said Lauren Phelps' family said the couple swapped texts and calls the night she was killed in which she was angry he was out late.

I don't understand these dates? Who are these Phelps people? and all the dates in October? I'm missing something here! :(

Glad to hear he took a peal deal! Case over....

This young man had serious mental problems. He did know what he was doing, however, so no insanity here (as per legal definition). He was a very troubled person though.

It is. All of the impact statements were very powerful. His statement was so weak and emotionless. I didn't realize he had been married before and physically assaulted his first wife. So many red flags she didn't have access to. Horrifying.
