Mario McNeill and Antoinette Davis should share a cell with Jerry Sandusky, Ariel Castro, and Dzohkar Tsarnaev. :stormingmad:

Sorry, if this might be seen as political, this case should of got as much attention as George Zimmerman, Jodi Arias, and Casey Anthony.

Thousand percent agree with you!

It should have, absolutely. I have my theory as to why it did not, but it's not something that will get me friends so i will not say it. Shaniya and little girls like her deserve better.

Here's an article from the Fayetteville paper with similar info on trial date for ~mom~.

http://www.fayobserver.com/articles/2013/07/12/1269307

"The trial for the mother of 5-year-old Shaniya Davis is scheduled for Oct. 14 in Cumberland County Superior Court. Antoinette Davis, 29, is accused of giving her child to Mario Andrette McNeill on Nov. 10, 2009, to settle a drug debt. McNeill was convicted of the girl's murder in May and sentenced to death. ..."

You're welcome, my little coffee bean! :seeya:

Oct. 14

wish I could be on that jury to help send her to where she belongs

Well, here's a little breath of fresh air -- this article mentions "Shaniya's Law" being used for the first time! Excellent, but at such a price.

An excerpt (bbm):

"...
The Cumberland County sheriff's office said Friday that 47-year old William Jerry Faulkner Jr. is the first person in North Carolina charged under "Shaniya's Law." It addresses the unlawful sale, surrender or purchase of a minor. Faulkner is also charged with indecent liberties with a child..."

Shaniya's law prohibits selling children to others
Hope Mills man accused last week of trying to buy an autistic child off Craigslist for sex becomes the first person charged under a state statute referred to by some as "Shaniya's law."
The law, which took effect Dec. 1, prohibits payment of any type "in connection with the unlawful acquisition or transfer of the physical custody of a minor, except as ordered by the court."
Cumberland County District Attorney Billy West said the law stems from the actions of Mario McNeill, who was sentenced to death in May for murdering 5-year-old Shaniya Davis in 2009.

Thanks for the update. This has dragged on long enough.
I'm ready for her to get the harshest sentence possible.
When I see an update on this case I always cringe because of the beautiful little Shaniya that was treated so disrespectfully.
Shaniya's case was one of the first I had followed so intensely an still haunts me today.

Thanks for the post, ima -- maddening, isn't it?!
.......................

WTH?

I guess this is par for the course. Something that is automatically done by the DT... But IMO, a waste of paper & ink... Why doesn't she plead out -- unless the prosecution won't accept whatever they have put on the table...

This trial can't come soon enuff, but Oct. 28 is just around the corner. I don't see it taking too long -- she was her ~mother~, and she treated her like a used car. JMHO. Grrrrr.

Her consitutional rights? UGH! I swear I could pop her upside her head. No other way to put it here without the dreaded time out.
Beautiful Shaniya, you deserved so much more, so much better than what you got out of this life. I will never forget you.
