GUILTY Netherlands - Malaysia Flight MH17 shot down in Ukraine. 298 aboard. 7/17/2014 #4

So glad to wake up to all the good news this morning! :)
Whoever would have thought that recovering remains was good news .. but as opposed to not being able to recover them, it is great news.

"I think we all agree that today was the biggest day ever in terms of the process of disaster victim recovery," said Michael Bociurkiw, spokesman for the OSCE special monitoring mission to Ukraine.

"It was a very, very good day. The experts out there did recover victim remains."

"We are happy that we can make sure that these remains can now be sent," said Pieter-Jaap Aalbersberg, the Dutch police official sent to Ukraine to head up the mission there.

"We hope that this can bring comfort to the bereaved. It is a relief that our people are now at work."

I read last night in Aussie MSM that two Russian aviation experts had flown to Kiev, and planned to visit the crash site. This morning I notice that they have not yet been allowed access to the site.

Hopefully, they will be made to wait for 2 weeks like we all had to. (Sorry .. am angry about that.)

Presuming that they are going there to defend their position that they were in no way responsible for the incident, and try to gather evidence to support that position.

MOSCOW, August 1 (RIA Novosti) – Russian experts did not visit the crash site of the Malaysian airliner in eastern Ukraine, a senior official of Russia’s civil aviation watchdog Rosaviatsiya said on Friday.

“A visit to the air crash site can be made only under control of the country, authorized to lead the investigation, in other words – the Dutch side. The international commission has not made such a decision so far,” said Oleg Storchevoi, a deputy Rosaviatsiya chief and Russia’s envoy to the international team of investigators.

According to Storchevoi, the Dutch side had earlier said that Russian experts in the international commission would be allowed to visit the crash site.

I read somewhere that the Russian delegation was ready for take off at least since last Sunday :)

According to ITAR-TASS they arrived in Kiev on Thursday.

Deputy Head of the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia) Oleg Storchevoi has arrived in Kiev with a group of his advisers, the agency press service said on Thursday.

Storchevoi has been appointed Russia’s authorized representative for the investigation of the Malaysia Airlines Boeing flight MH17 flight.

“The Russian experts intend to meet with the investigation commission head, Gijsbert Vogelaar, and provide the commission with all materials requested earlier by the commission’s chairman,” Rosaviatsia said.

Furthermore, today, the Russian mission will try, whenever possible, to get to the area of the airliner crash and examine the aircraft structure elements on site jointly with the members of the international investigation commission,” the press service said.

The Russian expert group will also take part in other activities for the investigation of the circumstances and causes of the crash, in accordance with the Standards and Recommended Practices of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Wow ... that is a really interesting article. Thank you kimi_SFC. :tyou:

In all, they have mapped 19 pieces of the plane and where those 19 pieces landed - shown in three different maps/locales.

Eight in Hrabove
One in Rozsypne (cockpit/lower nose)
Ten in Petropavlivka

Really worth a look. Wish they could put them all on one map (though I'm sure the officials have them all on one map). I'm sure that it must tell them a lot - where the plane suffered the greatest impact from the blast, how it fell ...

Here is a transcript and audio from an interview a couple of days ago
with WSJ's Paul Sonne, on MH17 recovery and investigations.

I found it interesting but a little surprising that he seems to feel the world has been critical of locals - even accusing them of looting. I haven't really picked up that impression. Opinion about local villagers who have found themselves in the middle of this horror appears sympathetic to me. It's the behaviour of the armed militias people have a problem with.

'Amsterdam mascara' girl excepted.

* I just heard on BBC Radio that Ukraine military have stated they have carried out 'extra-judicial' killings of captured rebels who were originally in control of the crash site. I hope I heard wrong because that won't help get any missing passengers remains returned, that the rebels may still be holding. :( Searching for more info now.

The convoy including the OSCE, Australian Federal Police and their Dutch counterparts making their way to the MH17 crash site.

After a minute of silence Australian Federal Police and their Dutch colleagues mapped the site as a grid and started the process of fanning out to search for the remains of as many as 80 victims .....

The search on Saturday was to resume in the area closest to the chicken farm, where the rear fuselage and other smaller sections of MH17 impacted. It was then expected to move about 600m over a hill and down the road, to where the engines smashed to earth.

Dogs trained to help in searching for human remains are expected to join the search as early as Saturday.

The investigators have arrived early today!
If this means that the trip took them less than those lengthy 4 hours, that is good news.

Significant detail about yesterday's search in The Guardian:
http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/aug/02/mh17-australian-recover-remains-visit-crash-site

The pace set on Friday hinted at the magnitude of the task ahead.

Aalbersberg said a team of 30 experts spent two hours after lunchtime searching an area of just 25 sq metres. The overall area to explore covers more than 20 sq kms.

“If we have maximum capacity, we think we need at least three weeks to do a full search, but that’s a very thin prospect,” he said.

I hope they mean that the area searched was 25 x 25 m,
and NOT 5 x 5 m, which amounts to 25 sq meters!

25m x 25 m = 625 sq metres!

GRENADES HIT NEAR TEAM MH17

NOS-Journaal reports:
http://nos.nl/artikel/682098-granaten-slaan-in-bij-team-mh17.html

Translation:

At the site where the Dutch team is investigating the air crash in eastern Ukraine, grenades have hit. It is unclear whether the investigators were targeted or if the shots drifted.

It is not clear who has fired grenades. The pro-Russian separatists deny involvement and point the finger to the Ukrainian army.

So far, the strikes have so far not affected the work of the Dutch team. They are still in the disaster area at work.

This morning, the investigators began their second day at the crash site. They resume their work at a chicken farm in Grabove. Searches for human remains and personal belongings of the 298 occupants were conducted with sniffer dogs . Near the farm, the hull of the Malaysian Boeing 777 landed.

==========================

OK, folks at NOS, I don't like the way you report this.
The team at work, and it's a TEAM, consists of Dutch, Australians and, at later time, Malaysians.
Grenades, shelling and shots affect them equally.
The international cooperation in this project is amazing at all levels.
I am deeply embarrassed that I even have to remind you.

Your competitors at RTL-News are doing a better job in this respect.

VICTIMS OF MH17 REMEMBERED DURING CANAL PARADE

Today the Canal Parade / Gay Pride will take place in Amsterdam.
The Dutch Aids Fund takes part in the Canal Parade with two boats. They will pay tribute to the AIDS-fighters and all other passengers of MH17 who lost their lives.
http://www.aidsfonds.nl/nieuws/aids-fonds-gedenkt-slachtoffers-mh17-tijdens-canal-parade

"They commemorate Pim de Kuijer, lobbyist for STOP AIDS NOW! and the AIDS Fund, and Martine de Schutter, leader of the Aids Fund program Bridging the Gaps. The staff also commemorate Joep Lange, Jacqueline van Tongeren and Lucie Mens. They were all on their way to the International AIDS Conference, which took place last week in Melbourne.

Ton Coenen director of the AIDS Fund and Louise Deth of STOP AIDS NOW: "The loss of our colleagues is a huge blow. Both personally and for the international fight against AIDS. Their work has been invaluable to medical science, providing access to HIV treatment and protecting international health rights of vulnerable groups. Thus, they were pioneers for the entire world. We hope that people are inspired by the extraordinary work of our fantastic colleagues. We will do everything to continue their work and vision. "

The HIV virus strikes mainly in places where inequality, violence, shame, stigma and lack of knowledge predominate. Therefore, the successful AIDS fighters do not only work in scientific research and new drugs, but also in education and the legal and medical protection of vulnerable groups, such as LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender).

Russian Roulette (Dispatch 63)
August 1, 2014 | 8:50 am

On July 24, 14 bodies were exhumed from a burial site in Sloviansk. The victims were civilians, all of whom are believed to have been killed by pro-Russia separatists when they were occupying the area. According to Ukrainian officials, there are roughly 300 people missing in Sloviansk, and mass and individual graves are consistently being found.

VICE News correspondent Simon Ostrovsky investigated what may have been behind these murders, traveling to the mass grave site near Sloviansk as the bodies were being unearthed.
He also met up with (@mashable) journalist Chris Miller, who found signed death warrants and proof that the separatists were operating under their own form of martial law while controlling Sloviansk.

Hi Kimi_SFC,

Thank you for posting the link about the mass graves.
The video's I did not watch, I do not have the stomach for graphic content.

More people, ordinary people have died in this forgotten war than in Gaza.
That's not to say which is worse, only to raise awareness that some wars seem silent and are almost forgotten because they do not reach our ears and eyes, let alone our hearts.

I hope the plane that fell on their fields may turn out to be a blessing in disguise.

Other than that, wars are stupid.

There! I've said it.

Rebels executing civilians. And not just innocent civilians who are in the line of fire. Yes, we would have never known they were doing this unless the world's attention was focused on the Ukraine at this time. jmo

INVESTIGATION NEAR CHICKEN FARM COMPLETED, TOMORROW SEARCH WILL CONTINUE NEAR ROZSYPNE

RTL-Nieuws reports:
http://www.rtlnieuws.nl/nieuws/binnenland/onderzoekers-morgen-naar-rozsypne

The forensic experts have finished the investigation in the area surrounding the chicken farm in Grabovo today. Tomorrow the team hopes to continue their search near the village of Rozsypne.

The head of the repatriation mission Pieter-Jaap Aalbersberg has made this known in a written statement. The village of Rozsypne is situated about 75 kilometers east of Donetsk. Northeast of Rozsypne debris from the aircraft of Malaysia Airlines has been located.

Today for the second day in a row searches were done near Grabovo: the whole area around the chicken farm has now been scoured. The team of 70 police officers and experts had two sniffer dogs at their disposal. Again parts of human remains and personal effects were found. The remains will be brought to Kharkov with a refrigerated truck.

If safety permits, a team of 100 experts will search and salvage as of Monday. The mission will then operate at full strength.
