Update On 20/20 Airing August 11, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — kbeaudin @ 2:30 pm

I wanted to update everyone on the 20/20 airing of Kathy’s story. ABC is saying sometime in October now, they want to do more interviews. They feel that more time is needed to do the story justice and the family agrees. We are so thankful that they want to pursue information that will make sure they touch on the many details involving Kathy’s brutal murder. This airing will name people that have been suspects (we know who was involved) over the years, finally some of these people will be exposed on national tv. I will update you as we continue to hear news on what is going on.
Thank you all for your support. We are looking forward to justice prevailing…..

as soon as i find out the exact date, i will post.

ABC 20/20 will be airing the story of Kathy's murder on November 6 at 10:00 pm,

I'm sorry I didn't think to post this until now but Kathy's story was on 20/20 tonight. Hopefully some of the Sleuthers out west will still be able to see this segment.

It's been nearly 39 years since 13-year-old Kathy Gloddy left her Franklin home for a walk and never came home.

This case sticks with you because it is so vicious. I used to think it was someone who was a stranger, but now, I am not so sure.

Karen Beaudin, Kathy Gloddy's sister, maintains an active blog. Her last entry was October 9. Here's a snip.
This November, the anniversary month of Kathy’s murder I beseech you. The adults who were children in nineteen seventy-one and have lived in fear for over forty years. Fear of what happened to Kathy would happen to them or their families. To those that have made the transition from fear to shame I plead with you to do the right thing and come forward. Once terrified to come forward for so many years you now live in shame of anyone knowing your secrets. Secrets are heavy burdens to bear for the rest of your life.

I recently watched the 48 hours episode (i believe it was 48 hours.... or dateline) that aired this..... so much overkill on that poor kid and you can tell how tough it is on her family.... so horrible..... I follow NH cold cases and this one was one of the worst

I just started watching for the second or third time. A rerun of the 20/20 episode that featured Kathy's case..... this case just breaks my heart and I truly hope that kathy's sisters get justice.... being from NH myself and still living here I want to see justice for kathy..... this has gone on too long......
To the Gloddy sisters: stay strong and never give up...... keep up the fight and get justice for your beloved sister.....

I had the honor of meeting Karen Gloddy Beaudin, last week at the 2014 CUE missing persons conference; 'Breaking The Silence' in Wilmington, NC. I wasn't aware of her case until then. KGB, gave a presentation and heart wrenching synopsis of her sisters tragic abduction and murder. When she shared her story, there wasn't a dry eye in the house.. I purchased her book; 'A Child is Missing', and intend on reading it today. Four decades is past time for Justice to be served in Kathy Lynn Gloddy's case...

In the 20/20 ep, Katy's sister said 4 men were involved in the killing, that she had been repeatedly raped. How long was Kathy missing for and who were the other 3? I know that one of them is suspected to be the one who lived in the upstairs apt in the Gloddy house. Also, on that ep, Kathy's sister said a cop told one of the suspects he may have been on law enforcement radar re the case. Is the cop's name known?

scriptgirl, I haven't had a chance to read her book yet but will share any answers to your questions that I run across, after I've read it. There is a sequel coming out which should provide additional answers to the many unanswered questions in Kathy Gloddy's abduction/murder..

This week the Attorney General's Office announced it will allow the case to go before the Vidocq Society, a national team of expert investigators who analyze and sometimes solve these long-ago crimes...

While the Attorney General's Office has signed off on letting the Vidocq Society take a look at the Gloddy case it still has to apply for consideration.

Not all cases are accepted but this one meets the criteria of having a body, a known crime scene, and physical evidence.

I thought that Kathy's sister said she knew the men responsible for Kathy's murder.

Fresh Trail Opens in Girl's 1971 Murder
Families of murder victims remind NH lawmakers the demand for justice hasn't gone cold
Jan 29 2019
CONCORD — The surviving family members of murder victims whose cases have gone cold offered heart-wrenching accounts of loss at a legislative hearing on Tuesday, hoping to convince lawmakers to expand the state’s Cold Case Unit by adding two more attorneys.
“I will never give up faith that the people who killed my sister will be brought to justice,” said Janet Gloddy Young, whose sister, Kathy Gloddy, was found raped and beaten to death in 1971 in the woods off Chance Pond Road in Franklin.

“Her case has never been solved, but I know in my heart that it still can be,” she said.

Young was one of several surviving family members who appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee in support of Senate Bill 130, which would add two attorneys to the one now serving the Cold Case Unit, for a total of three.

State Sen. Jeb Bradley, R-Wolfeboro, said he sponsored the bill at the request of Attorney General Gordon MacDonald, and in light of the fact that two of the cold cases on the state’s list of 128 originated in Wolfeboro."
