While this won't help us find Maura I came across this on the net and thought it interesting.
Maybe someone should contact this coach and get some perspective on Maura during her West Point days. He might be able to clear up some things about her time there. I am sure he remembers one of his top young runners from that year.

ITHACA, N.Y. - Army women's cross country team opened the 2001 season today with a second place finish behind host Cornell at the Moakley Golf Course in Ithaca, N.Y. With 24 points was Cornell in first, followed by Army in second (47), Marist in third (73) and Binghamton in fourth (101).
Finishing in third place as the top Black Knight finisher, Tara Mahoney ran a 19:28. Following three second later, Maura Murray took fifth place with a time of 19:29. Rounding out the top 15 for Army, Alexis Seefeldt finished 12th (19:52) and Beth Vollmer took 13th (19:54).
Winning the race was Carlan Gray from Cornell with a time of 19:03. Teammate Amber McGowan took second, Mahoney was third, Marist's Liza Grudzinski took fourth and Murray rounded out the top five.
"I was ecstatic with out top two runners (Mahoney and Murray)," said head coach Jerry Quiller. "They had great races and were able to break the top five."
The Black Knights women's cross country team will return to action when they travel to Boston on Sept. 15 to compete against Yale, Columbia, Cornell and Boston University in a meet scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m.
