Presumed Located NV - Trevor Morse, 30, Las Vegas, 6 May 2007

Webrocket,

I wrote that he was last seen in the Red Rock Canyon area, which is where a lot of hikers and rock climbers go. I did not write that Trevor was going hiking ..... Why do you think he took a cab downtown ? Where are you getting that from ? I beieve he took a cab from his house to the Red Rock Canyon area. Good point about his clothes ; the cabdriver would know ....

For the record : Trevor was last seen in the Red Rocks Canyon area, a place familiar to hikers and rock climbers, at the far western edge of the Vegas valley. He was waiting for someone at the edge of a shopping mall there, and was picked up on a store's video camera. When he seemed to see the person he was waiting for, he started walking towards them out in the direction of the desert/rock formations, and off the camera's range.. He never indicated to the cab driver,or anyone else that he was going to any casino that night....

There are no shopping or strip malls anywhere near the Red Rock Canyon area, to my knowledge. Does anyone have an address of his last known location?

I don't think he was hiking at all. Unfortunately anytime someone mentions the mountains people assume that the missing person went for a hike and that's where LE should look.

I forgot to mention, someone said his weapon was registered. If that was so then if he sold it there should be a record of it.

I also don't recall ANY mention of a computer. He had to have owned one. Does anyone have info on that?

Does anyone have a myspace account? I'd like to invite Trevor's father, Rick here - if it's okay with ya'll. I've looked at the timeline and other info on his myspace, but I have some questions. I only have a FB account.

I dont have a MS account. not a bad idea to try to bring family aboard. Too bad two years passed before WS picked up his name.

Fairy,
Trevor was last seen on a store video camera .He was wating at the 3800 block of South Town Center Drive. Cross street there is West Flamingo. Couple of golf courses, some stores. It is very close to the Red Rock Conservation Area. Middle of nowhere. I don't have a FB or MS account, but, I would love to ask Rick Morse a few carefully chosen questions.

I've just read the MS account and I don't see a specific reference as to where he was dropped off. That's one of my questions. I haven't been up to Red Rock Canyon for a while. But I'm telling you, there is NOTHING truly near the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area that could be construed as a shopping mall. It's BLM land and has been fiercely protected in recent years as developers have tried to get closer and closer.

I read on another website how the road to Red Rock - State Route 159, is rumored to be the fastest way out of west Las Vegas to California. That's also a load of carp. It's a little two lane highway. The fastest way out would be I-15 south. Sorry, but misinformation isn't going to be helpful here.

There's a scenic loop in Red Rock Canyon - which is how one would reach the hiking trails. And there are parking areas throughout where one could pull off the road. Most of the land right off of SR 159 is open desert and is pretty well travelled. If Trevor's body had been there as the result of a suicide, it would have been found by now. IMO.

I doubt he committed suicide. No reason to take a cab, then wait for a ride to another destination to do yourself in.

If he had the gun with him, then a number of us suspect he was meeting up with someone of a less than reputable character.

Guys-we typically do not invite family to participate on the sleuthing threads because of the rollercoaster of emotions they experience with some of the speculation...imagine reading that your son was "down right nasty looking" for example! Not to mention if we find UID's to compare to Trevor.

I can tell you that someone from LTWH has been in contact with Dad regarding some mutual outreach, so he may choose to post....and we will of course communicate everything he wants to share about the specifics of his son's time prior to disappearing.

Thanks believe. I can understand the discomfort they might experience. At the same time at least some fresh minds are looking at something that just fell off the radar screen a couple of years ago.

ABSOLUTELY!!!!! Trevor's dad will be happy to know that there are people who care enough to think about his boy....

When I first read about Trevor's case, it seemed like one of those inexplicable cases.
He has a good job, buying things for the home, out the night before with friends,
gets up, does laundry, pays bills, leaves all his personal i.d, cell, calls a cab, in friendly mood per the cab driver, going to meet someone.
Seen on video, pacing, then heads out, soon out of sight.

He owns a gun. It is not found. Presumption is made that he took the gun with him to meet someone.

Theories: IMO

Suicide is brought up. If that was the case, why the waiting for someone?
And much easier if his i.d. is with him.
IMO: unlikely.

Confrontation: He leaves to talk/discuss with someone. He expects a possible problem. He takes the gun, but brings no i.d., no cell phone.
If that's the case, why not bring the cell phone?
*question: Does he have best friends? Someone he would tell if there was something weird going on?
*question: Would he go and confront someone about a woman who was being abused?
*question: Did he have a current girlfriend?

Drug buy: Remember just a theory:
He does not bring i.d. or cell phone, but has a gun. And now he is missing.
*question: other security cameras in the area? did they catch anything on tape?

Drug sale:
He has no i.d., no cell phone and the gun.
He expects trouble, but he is a strong individual with a gun.
He is still missing.
question: security cameras at other businesses. were they checked at the time?

IMO>

I have a myspace account. I did leave a message there a few days ago.
..
I just checked myspace and no reply. When I went to leave a new message
with a link to WS, it says his address is set to away.

?

I'd like to know what if anything Trevor was carrying at the time of his cab ride. I don't recall seeing if he was carrying anything. If he was packing his gun, then he might have wanted some place to put it that was slightly non-descript.

I am beginning to think that this was a drug deal gone bad. Why do I say that? (I find myself asking and answering this question)

1. The cops suggested he was in rehab so maybe they found some indication from his apt that he used drugs. The friends he last partied with may be dabblers or the night club he went to might have been popular with some drug users.

2. The fact the gun is missing makes me think he wanted it for protection on that day so he was not going shopping at the mall.

3. The cab ride. I thought it odd he did not drive his new Mustang, but this could explain it. Starting in the 1990's it became all the rage for LE to institute forfeiture proceedings to seize vehicle used in drug dealing. In NYC people began taking taxis, public transportation and rental cars to avoid losing their own vehicles. [interesting how people prioritize what is important to them] So Trevor may have left his vehicle behind to avoid losing it if he got busted.

4. the cell phone. the phone he left behind might be his legitimate phone and he used a secondary prepaid cell phone for "other business".

Fairy,
It turns out that there are several stores out there ; there's a Kohls, Target, and Petsmart. It is more like an open strip mall, the stores aren't in an actual enclosed mall. I haven't lived in Vegas for several years, but I called a friend to confirm this. You make an excellent point about the highway/acccess to California.
Webrocket, The only problem I have with the drug deal gone bad scenario is the meet up location ; it is remote. It is in a fairly expensive residential area. Why on earth would anyone set up a drug deal in a place like this ?
I think your idea about LE finding drug paraphenalia at Trevor's house is interesting. That, and the fact that there is a highway near where Trevor was dropped off might have been the cause of the "rehab in California" comment by LE. But, wouldn't he have needed his Drivers License, for identification, and medical insurance card ? Also, at least some clothes, shaving stuff etc. There was no indication that he was carrying any kind of bag....

The rehab comment may have just been a not so subtle way of LE telling the family (and indeed the general public) that Trevor was no saint even though he was probably nowhere near any rehab joint in CA.

The deal did not have to go down at the point where Trevor got out of the cab and presumably got into someone else's vehicle. It was just a neutral meet up spot.

Technically, LE does not have to tell family if they have located an adult MP. While most will tip the family off, all do not....maybe they actually knew that Trevor was in rehab because they had confirmation from him or another source.

Hmmmm

If I'm thinking of the area you're referring to here, it's West Charleston. If you were to take Charleston all the way west, it becomes SR 159 and leads to the Red Rock Canyon, but that's still a bit of a distance from the Kohl's Target, etc. Flamingo Road is south of Charleston. My point is, you're not going to be standing in that shopping center one minute and then stumbling around the rocks of the Canyon the next. The timeline on the MS doesn't say exactly where Trevor was dropped off by the taxi.

I hate to focus on this being linked to a possible drug transaction, but I just can't think of any other reason to go all the way out there. Then again, if you were doing something illegal, why call a cab? And if you were anxious enough to take your gun, wouldn't you want your own car so you could take off if you needed to?

I wonder too if the NCFMLO ever did any further searches. It seems the family has maintained a good relationship with them all this time.

One other thing - one of the family's theories about what's happened to Trevor is that he's in the Witness Protection Program. That would actually explain a lot - including why LE has been so unhelpful in this case and why Trevor hasn't contacted his family.

Trevor worked a specialized trade as an electrician and had just renewed his license prior to going missing. Would it be likely that he has continued this work in the WPP and if so, I wonder if he's had to renew his license again since or if he had to get a new one under another name. Maybe the California rehab story was a half truth and he's somewhere in California working as an electrician under another name???

Sorry to quote myself here - but I think the Feds would have lined up another license for him and if he is in CA, it would be like finding a needle in a haystack - especially if the government wants to keep him hidden.

I would like to know what company he worked for prior to going missing. There's been plenty of shady shenanigans by construction companies in LV over the years. Maybe Trevor was onto something and needed to disappear.

This WPP theory makes a LOT of sense. If he was going into it, it explains everything we know. Wouldn't need his car, ID, money, clothes, etc. Probably wouldn't know exactly when he would be leaving, hence the laundry and bill paying. Maybe insisted on taking his own gun with him because he felt he needed to protect himself.
