GUILTY NY - Lawrence Taylor for rape of 15yo girl, Montebello, 2010

SO if sex occurred (condom reportedly found) then JT may be guilty of badjudgment, hiring a prostitue, believing her when she claimed, at her pimp's behest, that she was 19.

Dumb dumb dumb. Why are men so driven to listen to their nether regions? Will they ever learn?

I have a feeling that the pimp may have intended to set him up unknowingly with this underage girl in order to later hit JT up for money (Blackmail).

I feel badly for the girl involved, but IDK, I just don't see JT knowingly "hiring" a pro for some intimate entertainment with this sort of risk attached (statutory rape).

That said, I repeat what I posted earlier. If he did this thing he should get all he deserves, sports figure or not.

Even if she said she were 19 (which is what being reported right now), it's not going to change the situation for him because in that state it does not matter if he knew or did not know that she were under age.
So he is still going to be in trouble for statutory rape under that law.

Yep. And it's a darn shame. I really don't know the first thing about sports, but I know a career is a career, and he's obviously worked very hard through his life to arrive at his level of success. And to forfeit it all just like that, for what? As tlcox put it, for "listening to his nether regions."

Rape charges aside, he's a public figure (not to mention a family man), and as such, you'd think he'd be even more protective of his reputation. If I were in such a position, I'd take care to avoid even sneezing in a questionable fashion, much less engage in questionable (and illegal!) practices.

Although I don't agree with the law that if someone believed a female to be an adult because that's what she said, it makes no difference in a statutory rape case, I also think this guy might get what he deserves. It appears that girl had a beat up face when she showed up-that should have given anyone a clue.

I know, right? Even if you set aside the age issue for a moment, wouldn't it be obvious "something" would be amiss if a female showed up at the door with apparent injuries? Meh...no one was going out of their way to be noble here.

Exploitation, extortion, coercion...it's all just a big tangled mess of wrong. I admit I pity LT (mostly his family) for what they're going to go through now, but I'm afraid he's got to face tough consequences just like everybody else. And even more so because of his visible status.

Of everyone responsible, though, the pimp should pay the most dearly. Even if this girl is returned to her family, I wonder if her world experience puts her beyond hope for a normal life.

It's still a crime to hire a prostitute in NY regardless of her age first and foremost.
Or to have "consensual sex" with an underage girl because they cannot by law agree.

Even if he did hire a prostitute and she accepted money as payment and gave it to her pimp, it is still illegal to beat her and force her into sex otherwise known as rape.
He broke the law even if she is of age by hiring a prostitute and beating her regardless of underage or not.
I wouldn't make any excuses for a predator.
The truth hopefully will come out- but how stupid can he be to not have known she isn't over 18. Why or how does he know an ex-con Davis and why use his services when there's escort services with better reputations?
Hopefully, they won't let him buy his way out of trouble like they do other athletes.
Either way I am shocked his wife will stand by him unless she loves the money more than the truth.

I thought the allegation was the pimp beat her? Is there an allegation that LT beat her also?

No, it isn't alleged that LT beat her. He also apparently did not know she was under age-it has been reported she was instructed by the pimp to tell him she was 19. But in that state it would not make a difference if she told him she was 19 because it only matters how old she actually is, not the age he thinks she is.

Feds: Lawrence Taylor admitted paying for sex
Associated Press - 4 hours ago

Disgraced gridiron great Lawrence Taylor admitted paying for sex at a suburban Holiday Inn where police say he raped a 16-year-old runaway, federal prosecutors said Friday in a criminal complaint against the girl's alleged pimp.

The papers filed in federal court in Manhattan refer to Taylor only as "Client-1."

In the paperwork, authorities claim the Pro Football Hall of Famer told police following his arrest on Thursday that he had taken a car service from Newark International Airport to the hotel north of New York City to meet "Victim-1."
Taylor told investigators that after "engaging in sex acts" with the victim, he paid her $300 in cash, the complaint says. The man charged in the complaint, Rasheed Davis, had told the Giants legend that the girl was 19, the court papers say.

Taylor, 51, was charged Thursday in Suffern, N.Y. with third-degree rape and patronizing a prostitute. His lawyer, Arthur Aidala, has denied the charges.

In her account, prosecutors said, the girl said Davis gave her Ecstasy and marijuana before making her do "exotic dancing" and "engage in multiple commercial sex acts" for prices ranging from $80 to $150. He advertised her services by sending cell phone photos of her and posting ads on websites, the complaint says.

On Wednesday, Davis sent the girl a text message in which he said he wanted her to have sex with "Client-1" for $300, the complaint says. When she refused, Davis began threatening with text messages, prosecutors said.
The texts were "along the lines of 'I'm going to 'F' you up,'" Kramer said.
The complaint said Davis later beat up the victim, drove her to the hotel against her will and waited outside for an hour while she had sex with Taylor.
Authorities found notebooks in the home where Davis kept "customers information," Kramer said.

Police believe Taylor used a middleman to arrange the liaison, but said Friday they hadn't identified that person.

Okay, so it's pretty obvious at this point that I am not a sports fan. Actually, in my first marriage I was a sports widow so now I avoid all things sporting like the plague. I was not familiar with Lawrence Taylor or his past history of drug use, rehab, etc.

I realize that he will face consequences as well he should. Ignorance is no excuse in the eyes of the law so whether he thought she was of age is of no consequence. Quite frankly, I think this may be the best possible thing that could have happened to him.

It is clear that he has a habit of getting himself in to fixes and exercising poor judgment. Poor judgment usually goes hand in had with drug and alcohol abuse. Makes me wonder if there wasn't drug use gong on in addition to the prostitution that evening.

:blushing: Oops. I must've missed the part about his history with drugs and rehab. For some reason, I was under the impression he had a pretty clean record. Well, that shifts my perspective quite a bit.

I'm glad he made an admission. Now he'll have to face the music -- a whole dern symphony orchestra.

And I hope Davis gets the max.

Judging from his blood red eyes in his mugshot, I would venture to guess he is back on drugs.

So LT is a wife-beater? Doesn't sound like he has any integrity at all. Must mean there's no conscience either.

LT was a great football player, a linebacker, and is a sports legend in the NY/NJ area. He is almost as famous for his many, many fall from graces - which were all his own doing. This is just the latest.

His current wife has been on the news defending him. Simply pathetic.

That poor young girl. I hope she gets the help she'll need.

I didn't get that from reading the article.

On May 8, 2002, just six months after tying the knot with his second wife, Maritza Cruz, Taylor allegedly blew up at his home when she accused him of cheating after finding glitter in his car, a Miami Beach police report said.

According to Cruz's statements, Taylor yanked her right arm and knocked her to the floor. She said Taylor also kicked her stomach while wearing golf spikes.

Taylor was not arrested, but Cruz got a restraining order. So, if he did this, why no arrest? Maybe not enough evidence????

A second fight took place on Dec. 29, 2002, when Taylor threw a TV remote against a wall and grabbed Cruz during a row over watching television in the bedroom, a police report said. Taylor was not arrested. Again, not arrested?

The toxic pair divorced in 2005.

Taylor married his third wife, Lynette Gordon, in July 2007, but they were feuding months before the nuptials.

Police responded to a domestic disturbance at Taylor's home in Pembroke Pines, Fla., on April 7, 2007. The couple told police they were just arguing. Cops returned to Taylor's home on Dec. 28, 2008. This time the two were married and fighting over houseguests, according to a report.

Another dispute erupted this past March 4. The police report said Taylor had a spat with his wife over "a family matter."

I'm just not getting wife beater out of this. I see allegations, no arrests, and spats.

Yea well one might ask police why he was not arrested when his wife accused him. An elderly frail grandma slaps her 18 year old granddaughter, police drag her off to jail. A wife says her husband kicked her in the stomach and police don't arrest him?
I for one am curious why that is so.

I may be biased. I tend to view any action that is a man putting his hands on a woman in a violent manner (grabbing, yanking, pushing) as physical abuse -- I used the term "wife-beater" in reference to LT. For me, a man who is physically violent toward his wife/gf is guilty of "beating" her whether he uses fists or not.

I feel the same term applies to parents who physically handle their children this way, too. JMO

Taylor Pleads Not Guilty

Former Giants linebacker Lawrence Taylor entered a plea of not guilty Tuesday morning in a Rockland County Court to charges of statutory rape and solicitation stemming from a May 6 arrest in a New York hotel.

Holding his wife Lynette's hand as he walked to a waiting car after the hearing, Taylor was asked if he looked forward to his day in court.

"Hopefully it don't go that far," the 51-year-old Taylor said.

Taylor is accused of soliciting a prostitute in a case involving a 16-year-old runaway. According to prosecutors, the alleged victim was able to lead police back to Taylor's hotel room in Suffern. The man alleged to be the girl's pimp also has been charged with unlawful imprisonment, assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

After the plea was entered, Rockland County District Attorney Patricia Gunning asked for a six-month extension of the order of protection first issued, to keep Taylor away from the alleged victim identified as C.F. As he did in the first court appearance in May, Aidala protested the order.

After some wrangling, Aidala had Taylor sign the order. The next court date is set for Aug. 3, but the Hall of Fame linebacker won't have to appear again until Aug. 24

Hall of Fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor pled guilty to two misdemeanor charges in court Thursday, stemming from a May 6 arrest for felony statutory rape. He will be sentenced to six years' probation but must register as a sex offender.

He also was ordered to pay $1,300 in fees.

Taylor, who was dressed in black from head to toe, pled guilty to one count of soliciting a prostitute and a second count of sexual misconduct in having sex with a woman without consent. Since the victim in the case was 16, by law she was not old enough to give consent....

NEW CITY, N.Y. -- Lawrence Taylor's name will not appear on an online sex offender registry list after he was given Level 1 status in a Rockland County court on Tuesday.

Judge William Kelly heard arguments from the district attorney's office, which requested Level 2 status, and Taylor's attorney Arthur Aidala, who argued for Level 1, the lowest level.

After listening to both sides, Kelly said the main consideration was the likelihood that Taylor was a threat to public safety and would repeat his crime.

"I frankly don't think that is likely," Kelly said, ruling from the bench.

I'm not sure what to think about that.

The judge certainly bent over back wards. I'm a little surprised he didn't roll out the red carpet and throw rose petals at the feet of Taylor as he exited the courtroom!
