CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Gregory Moore on Friday denied lying to Aliza Sherman and Cleveland police before and after the Beachwood nurse was killed in 2013 outside of his law office.

Cuyahoga County Judge John Sutula ordered Moore, 42, held on a $5,000 personal bond on 16 counts, including sending false text messages to Sherman, lying to homicide detectives investigating her death and calling in bomb threats to courthouses across Northeast Ohio.

Sherman was ambushed and stabbed 11 times outside Moore's office in the Erieview building on March 24, 2013, the eve of her divorce trial. Investigators have not identified the killer, despite surveillance footage of a person of interest running from the scene.

Three years later, and at the same spot Aliza Sherman was murdered, there are still no answers as to who and why anyone would murder her.

“People say that time heals all wounds. But in this case, I would have developed a scar without a wound,” said her brother, Edward Czinn.

The 53-year-old Beachwood nurse was to supposed to meet with her divorce attorney Gregory Moore on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at the Galleria at Erieview in downtown Cleveland. As she left the building, she was stabbed 11 times.

Surveillance video captured a hooded person running from the scene, but to this day he or she has not been identified.

Depositions reveal details of Sherman civil case - June 2016

http://www.clevelandjewishnews.com/news/local_news/depositions-reveal-details-of-sherman-civil-case/article_db6cc4ce-3976-11e6-9b9b-2fcaa676d945.html

In a newly filed court document related to a civil lawsuit against Dr. Sanford Sherman, depositions of those connected to the case paint a sordid picture of Aliza Sherman’s estranged husband, including an admission of an extramarital affair, details of a defamation lawsuit kept hidden from family involving an exotic dancer, and a reference to a conversation soliciting advice on how to commit the perfect crime.

Copies of emails from Aliza Sherman to her divorce attorneys included in the 619-page document filed June 14 also spell out that the Beachwood mother of four and former Cleveland Clinic nurse feared for her safety as the couple’s contentious divorce case moved forward.

Mostly, however, the deposition transcripts included in the filing bring to light matters surrounding possibly forged signatures and transferred funds related to a Merrill Lynch account – items at the heart of the civil suit filed by Jennifer Sherman, Aliza Sherman’s daughter and co-executor of her estate, against her father, Sanford Sherman, and five John Does on May 28, 2014.

The lawyer Aliza Sherman hired to represent her in a messy 2013 divorce admitted to lying to his client and to Cleveland police homicide investigators before and after the Beachwood nurse and mother of two was stabbed to death outside his downtown office.

Gregory J. Moore, 43, pleaded guilty Monday to two counts of inducing panic, which are low-level felony charges, and to a misdemeanor count of falsification...

Moore texted Sherman in the minutes before and after the stabbing to say he was waiting to meet her at his office inside the Erieview building, according to the indictment.

But prosecutors examined phone records, electronic keycard data from the building and statements from witnesses and concluded that Moore had left his office an hour before the stabbing and did not return until more than an hour after police found Sherman bleeding heavily on the sidewalk, according to court records.

Never heard of this. This was in broad daylight. No one around?

Reward in Aliza Sherman stabbing case now $100,000

http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2017/05/reward_in_aliza_sherman_stabbi.html

Cleveland police and Cuyahoga County Crime Stoppers announced on Friday a substantial increase in the reward for information that leads to the identification and indictment of Aliza Sherman's killer.

The reward is now set at up to $100,000, which is twice the amount previously offered in the March 2013 stabbing death of the Cleveland Clinic nurse in downtown Cleveland.

The increased reward came after an anonymous donor recently put forth a $50,000 donation to the cause.

Aliza Sherman attorney sentenced to jail for lying during homicide investigation

http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2017/05/aliza_sherman_attorney_sentenc.html#incart_river_home_pop

The disgraced divorce lawyer who lied to Aliza Sherman and Cleveland police homicide detectives before and after the Beachwood woman was stabbed to death outside his office was sentenced Tuesday to spend six months in jail.

Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court Judge John D. Sutula imposed the sentence, which also includes three years of probation and 350 hours of community service once Moore is released from the Cuyahoga County Jail.

Sherman's daughter, Jennifer Sherman-Rivchun, told reporters after the hearing that she felt Moore showed no remorse.

"It's deeply concerning that we still don't know any more information today about what happened that day," she said.

Moore's conviction remains the only charges levied against anyone in connection to Sherman's slaying. It comes more than four years after a hooded figure attacked her on a Sunday afternoon outside Moore's office at 55 Erieview Plaza.

Wow... this case is cold ❄️ or it never got heated up after info was posted.
I’ve read and heard on podcast that a “friend” recommended this lawyer to Aliza. Could that friend be involved?
This lawyer does not sound like a good attorney.
Why would the lawyer have set up the attack -stabbing death - IF that is what is being insinuated by these charges? To cover mismanagement of the retainer and funds that had been paid?
Why would the lawyer work with SOMEONE - like her husband, etc - to get Aliza to his office to have her attacked? Money?
Did her lawyer have her sign the power of attorney that transferred 2m into an account in her name fraudulently? I’m assuming this was a way to hide the money right in front of her face - by putting it in her name - so they could not find it while looking for husband’s accounts.
Seriously after hearing so much negative information about this lawyer, I’d love to know WHO was the person who recommended with lawyer because I’m not sure they were a true friend.
It’s truly sad the extreme trauma that her daughter has and is still experiencing from her mother’s attack. She is literally imprisoned by her fears and will continue to be until the murderer of her mother is arrested and convicted.

You would think this would get some attention:
“Investigators are offering up to a $100,000 reward for information leading to a conviction in the March 24, 2013 killing, the highest amount ever offered by Cuyahoga County Crime Stoppers.”
EXCEPT if the person who hired the killer is $paying a lot more or he/she will get a lot more.

Aliza Sherman attorney sentenced to jail for lying during homicide investigation
I think it’s obvious that HE was the one caught on video camera fleeing after Aliza’s death. Same walk ... so I guess we will just have to wait for LE to get enough evidence to convict him.

From the article

The next day, Moore told Cleveland police homicide investigators who showed up at his office that he was in his office when Sherman sent him the messages, and he walked down to let her in but she was gone, O'Malley said.

But detectives and prosecutors examined phone records, electronic keycard data from the building and statements from witnesses and concluded that Moore had left his office an hour before the stabbing and did not return until more than an hour after police found Sherman bleeding on the sidewalk, according to court records.

So he was texting her telling her the door was unlocked and to come up to his office, but he wasn't even in his office. Still don't understand why this case hasn't been prosecuted.

There are also likely some careers riding on staying quiet. Is it possible some might lose their jobs if they talk?

I also feel very saddened that Aliza's daughter had to settle her civil suit (over her mother's estate) with her father for a paltry $110,000. That's terrible. Had she lived and her case gone through divorce court with a competent attorney, Aliza would have been awarded far more. The paltry settlement and aggressive court fight reflect very poorly on Mr. Sherman, proving he cares nothing for his own children. His years of fighting with his wife reflects the same - when his children were young, he was willing to abandon his responsibilities as a parent and leave his children with nothing, little or no means of support.

Depositions reveal details of Sherman civil case

Also disturbing was the criminal activity by Sanford Sherman in forging his wife's signature on documents used to create accounts where he hid millions of dollars from the family. What a monster.
