GUILTY OH - Toledo, WhtMale, 2 months, UP17671, May '17 & Baby Jane Doe, Feb '20 - found in cars *arrests*

A second dead infant was discovered inside a vehicle registered to Jacob Cisneros, a man already charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of his infant son.

A coroner's report on Tuesday said the baby's body was mummified and was full term. Identification and further investigation are still pending, according to Lucas County Deputy Coroner Cynthia S. Beisser. The girl, described as Jane Doe, was a white female, according to Toledo Police Lt. Daniel Gerken.

On Feb. 7, Jacob Cisneros' vehicle was towed to the Toledo police impound lot as part of the ongoing death investigation from 2017, when the remains of his son - Baby Doe - were found inside a different vehicle.

On Monday, a search warrant on the car was executed, and the second deceased baby was located.

As sad and horrifying as it is, I definitely have questions. What was the time period between Baby John and Baby Jane? Did the couple ever seek services such as termination or adoption? Are they using birth control? Did family, friends, etc. know they were expecting? What did they tell those who knew about what happened to the babies? How many times has this happened and why did it happen more than once (I'd say "even once" but we know from other cases it usually happens out of desperation)? Do they know about safe havens?

I wanted to highlight a few quotes from an article that may illuminate the situation:

"Investigators contend statements made by the defendants indicate that no one else would have cared for the child during that time frame, according to court records."

"“We still need to know the name of the baby,” Lieutenant Gerken said. “We’re still trying to figure out where that baby was born..."

"The lieutenant could not recall who owned the vehicle the infant was found in. He said the home where the vehicle was found belonged to relatives of the couple."

So it sounds like the couple is being cooperative but not giving the name of the baby or where it was born. Home birth/no name? We know the baby was up to two months old, but that means anywhere from a newborn to 2mo. Did anyone (the couple included) even know she was pregnant? It sounds like they were overwhelmed and tried to get relatives to take it in, if they made statements saying no one would.

IMO, I think the fact that they left the baby at the home of relatives is of massive importance. It sounds like they thought the baby would be found in time. Sorry to be graphic but if the baby was close enough to smell when it was dead, maybe the couple thought it was close enough to hear when alive.

Just my theory to fit the currently released facts.

You realize even if your theory is true, it's still homicide, right?
There's always the option of asking a responsible relative to babysit while you "go to a doctor's appointment" and then taking off, knowing the baby is cared-for.

I'm not arguing that it's homicide? Just whether the death of the baby was intended.

They have three other living children. Taking off doesn't sound like an option for them.

Unbelievable.... another baby.... :(

Anyone have info on what happened at Jenna's court hearing yesterday? TIA!

Police: Second deceased baby found in car registered to Cisneros

They were arraigned Feb. 4 in Toledo Municipal Court, and they remain in the Lucas County Jail in lieu of a $500,000 bond each. Their preliminary hearings in municipal court Tuesday were continued to Thursday. As of Tuesday afternoon, court records did not show any new charges for either of the Cisneroses.

If they couldn't find a cause of death, does that means the body was skeletal and no tissue was available? Why would they call it decomposing remains then? I'm not sure how to interpret that.

Snips from the link:
Mr. Cisneros, 33, and his wife, Jenna Cisneros, 34, both of the 300 block of South Reynolds Road in South Toledo, were arrested Feb. 3 and are charged with involuntary manslaughter, a first-degree felony, and endangering children, a third-degree felony, in connection to the first infant found.

Police were not able to identify the boy, believed to be 2 months old or younger at the time of his death. There were no signs of trauma on the body, according to the Lucas County Coroner's Office.

Dr. Diane Scala-Barnett, the coroner, said that no anatomical or toxicological cause of death was found in the decomposing remains. The boy was dressed in newborn-sized clothes, Dr. Barnett said.

Oh that's super interesting. Nolle prosequi means "will no longer prosecute"/dismissal of the charges. I'm curious about whether they're going to be charged more harshly or released with no further charges.
