OH OH - Zaden McKnight, 4, & mom Nichelle, 25 (fnd dec'd), Dayton, 29 March 2014

Is there any hope at all that this little boy is alive? I just don't understand how anyone can murder a child...Lightening McQueen shoes...so innocent. I want to cry.

Aww. I understand how you feel, me too.

The affidavit only says there was blood found in the basement and of course the LE has said for a while that they felt both Nichelle and Zaden were dead. Must be they have DNA from the basement of both Nichelle's and Zaden's, sucks. jmo

The search for Zaden is far from over. Investigators tell us they've sent out an alert to all surrounding areas with waterways that connect to the river where his mother's body was found.

Investigators also plan to go back to the river when the water level decreases and do another search.

Thanks! Much appreciated.

Wondering why it had to be this way. Did the ex kill himself because he killed Nichelle & Zaden for wanting to leave him and end the relationship or did the new found sketchy girlfriend go ahead and take care of his past for him? He did commit suicide over regret of some kind. Did ex meet up with new gf and within the week they decide to steal her money and kill them because Nichelle filed a report about the theft? That's fast.

I'm sure somewhere there's drugs involved as in usage by gf & ex bf.

Sucks. Terribly horrible people kill good people daily. Zaden needs to rest though. I hope the little guy is found soon.

It is so sad. My mind keeps wandering about what happened to him and I get sad and anxiety over it!! Like did she throw him in the water and let home drown? If she did he was so scared. Any scenario he was probably so scared!

Pictures of Zaden from his NCMEC poster. I'm hoping that he is still alive out there somewhere. As impossible as it seems, maybe he was handed off to someone :please:

Sisters want answers after new revelations in Dayton mother’s murder

“It’s really frustrating because it’s like dang you find out every day, wow my sister went through that, oh I didn’t know she was in this location. What did you all do to her, where did you all take her?” asks Nichelle’s sister Jessica Cade.

Questions police believe now only Tonisha Harris may be able to answer.

The 29-year-old is being held in jail, accused of stealing from Nichelle.

However, she isn’t charged in connection with Nichelle’s murder.

The two women were reportedly dating the same man, Antwan Anderson. Police believe he is the one who pulled the trigger, killing Nichelle.

Nichelle McKnight's Family Speaks About New Information

"I'm just trying to figure out why would they lower the bond, if they had, to me, they have more than enough evidence whether she was involved or not," said Jasmine.

They say they are shocked and angry after an affidavit shows police found blood in the basement of Harris' home on Birchwood Avenue in Dayton.

"I feel like there's too much evidence pointing toward her being there, her knowing something, her having information on whereabouts and everything else," said Jessica.

McKnight, son may have been killed in basement, police say

Harris pleaded not guilty to the charges and even had her bond lowered from $250,000 to $10,000, despite the chance she may face other charges related to McKnight’s case. Judge Dennis Langer ruled that DNA can be collected from Harris and that, if she does make bond, she must be placed on electronic monitoring.

Despite the evidence collected, Harris is not facing charges related to McKnight’s death. Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office spokesman Greg Flannagan said the McKnight homicide is an open investigation, and authorities are still processing what was found in her home. That includes seeing if Harris’ blood matches the evidence that was found in her basement.

That is a huge reduction in bond.

Yes, it is a huge reduction in bond. Unfortunately, being in Ohio myself, I see this kind of stupidity more than I'd like to. They really screwed up here... big time! If I was the family I'd be so pi$$ed off right about now!

Found a nice little map/timeline for this case.

I'm still holding out hope that Zaden was passed off to someone and is out there somewhere. Scared, yes, but hopefully safe and unharmed. :please: Worst case scenario being that little Zaden was put into the river, the Stillwater River flows into the Miami about 3 miles southeasterly of where Nichelle was found. With the length of time they've been missing, and taking into account the winter we've had, the river might be deeper and colder than normal at this time. I'm not 100% sure how that would affect his movement downstream, but I think it would take longer to surface. I may be wrong. But then again he is just a little boy so he might have surfaced days before mom was found.

Alright, so going on the assumption that he may not have traveled far I did notice there are three areas where his little body could get hung up along the way. (Gosh it is so hard to type that!)

One area is right behind Springcreek Drive where his mom was found. I think that area was searched, although I'm not sure how well. So the second area is down around the Five Rivers Metroparks between Wampler and E Siebenthaler to the east of Riverside Dr. The third area is south from there, between Ernst and E Hudson, again east of Riverside Dr. Although looking on Sat image this third area seems the least likely.

And if he's made it into the Great Miami... well... oh geez I really don't know. Could he have made it that far? Nevermind, I don't even want to think about that because who knows where he could be then. :scared: I didn't even want to look at the Stillwater to be honest.

Oh Zaden  Where are you sweetheart??

The river flow has bothered me a lot. I just remember bad bad rains in April, into May & June growing up there and how they flooded many times. Especially the Miami off Needmore Rd.
(could AZ have some?)

Needmore...Wow that's an oldie.

Zaden really needs to be found. Glad there's a pro search group stepping up from OH. Hopefully things will move faster & be more prepared Waiting a week is just not working. Sure you can tell the river flow and possibly how far...but how often does that happen to find the missing? I'm just curious. I'll read up tomorrow but so many are found by the jogger, hiker, person walking their dog..etc.. It's not a holiday nor the weekend when a child goes missing for any family. jmo My thoughts will be with them too.

Thursday night, an official with Ohio Task Force 1 said the Dayton Police Department has contacted the organization about helping in the search for the boy.
Evan Schuman, a representative of the organization, said that while the task force has not committed any of its resources, he has put the department in touch with a contact that can get the department dogs that are used to detect human remains.

Nichelle McKnight laid to rest with military honors

The funeral included live gospel music. The Air Force presented a posthumous commendation medal to McKnight, and that drew a 35-second standing ovation. Barringer's eulogy was preached in a rousing fashion. "You're looking at a chapter and not a book," he said of McKnight's life. "This is just the close of a chapter, but it is not the book."

McKnight family friend Tyrone Guffey, a pastor, said: "Even with her laying here today, she's still being honored. That meant that that young lady must have done something."

Are those photos both supposed to be of Zaden? They don't look like the same kid to me.

I don't understand why these !@#$%^&* hurt or killed this little boy. They could've let him go!

Yes, both of those are on his NCMEC poster. I'd like to think he's out there somewhere alive. But from the way the police are talking they seem sure that he's not :(

I wish the one person who could say where he is didn't shoot himself like a coward :rage:

Oh I'm sure that person's accomplice knows the truth and whereabouts of Zaden. She's probably holding that info in order to make some sort of bargain. :banghead:

A vigil for Zaden McKnight was held this evening at Edison School.
Zaden was a student at Edison, relatives said.

Police continue to search for him along the river in Harrison Township, the same place his mother’s body was found.

The Ohio Attorney General’s Office added his photo to its website Tuesday hoping to flush out information that will lead to Zaden’s discovery.

Dayton homicide detectives, members of Box 21 and Ohio Task Force 1 were out on the Stillwater River and searching the river’s banks.

Biehl said they've received no tips or leads of where Zaden's body may be, but are relying on their own search techniques to map out areas near where McKnight's body was found, and where suspects Antwan Anderson and Tonisha Harris may have had access

On Wednesday homicide detectives concluded a weeklong search of about 100 vacant buildings near 23 Birchwood Ave., but did not find anything.
