We were rolling along nice and smooth and then all of a sudden we were on our side," said Don Kelleher, one of the passengers.




"All of a sudden it felt like the brakes were hit hard and then our car," said Michael Black, another passenger. "We were third from the last, just slowly started going over to the side. I tried to just brace my arm against it and then just got off."

"It wobbled at first and then went off the tracks," Murphy said. "There were some pretty banged-up people. One guy next to me was passed out. We kicked out the window in the top of the train car and helped get everyone out."

The train does have the equivelent of flight recorders.

 
Search window shattered amtrak on twitter. Unconfirmed but supposed to have happened right before derailment. Interestingly this happened on a train last year in Virginia but the train did not derail.

I also find it interesting that 6 days ago a window was broken by an unknown object near Baltimore. http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/commuting/bs-md-ci-amtrak-incident-20150504-story.html this is also supposed to be one of the Amtrac Acela trains that derailed today.

I agreee with Kevin - after all this time one would think we would def know if it was a collison with another train. It would seem tho that is not the case, it is just not being mentioned any longer??

It is very pecular to see a car that obliterated, as some of you know I NTSB, they do trains too (!) I have never seen a railcar look lik not this pic, the one kevin posted I am referring to!

If the pics are real on twitter of the shattered window I don't believe terrorism either. They look like bullet holes to me. BTW, my tweet is going viral about the possible shattered window and the Baltimore train 6 days ago.
 
There is a post in the scanner thread downstairs that should be seen IMO.
