I'm on an amtrak from boston to dc right now. pretty freaking terrified. crew has no idea what could have happen and keep speculating that it wasn't an accident and are getting people wound up for (what I hope to be) no reason.

It is very pecular to see a car that obliterated, as some of you know I NTSB, they do trains too (!) I have never seen a railcar look lik not this pic, the one kevin posted I am referring to!

OK...how is the locomotive still standing...and the car that was behind it beyond mangled?

Tracks don't have perpendicular lines, do they? Because it looks like something smashed into that 2nd car...detaching it from the rest of the train and the track. I may be way off base but that's how it looks to me.

Sounds bizaire I wonder if one car like flew up in the air and then came down was crashed into by the rest of the train derailing?

Thanks for all your updates this is a terrible tragedy. Watching on the news here but sending my thoughts and prayers to the deceased, injured and their families.

I'm surprised the trains don't have seat belts that people can at least choose to put on. Maybe this needs to be reviewed.
