Identified! PA - Perry Co., Female remains, 30-40, off highay, Sep'10 - Teresa Ware

I just got done watching the ID Channel's Disappeared episode on Toni Sharpless, and it reminded me of this case.

I took a look at this UID's NamUs file, and see that it was updated today.

NamUs UP Case 8154 https://identifyus.org/cases/8154

Of all the MP's mentioned on this thread, Toni is on the rule-outs list, as is Joan Cook and Michelle Benjamin.

However, none of the other women mentioned here are on the list (including Tracy Kroh, who was specifically mentioned as someone that they had looked at and ruled-out).

Mentioned Here but Not Listed on NamUs Rule-outs list:
Joey Offut
Claire Adams
Mikalena Nau
Tracy Kroh
Diane Wolf
Shelva Rafte
Karen Wells
Danielle Imbo

I don't know if hair can change color post-mortem. I also think in general there is subjectivity when it comes to color particularly with brown hair and in another case hazel eyes. they look brown to some, green to others and hazel to yet others.

It's not just that there's subjectivity; the color itself can appear to change. Somebody mentioned brown hair that looks red in the sun. Some brown hair bleaches blond in the summer. Hazel eyes also often appear different depending on lighting conditions and the colors around them. My son's eyes can seem to be anything from dark gray to light brown, though most of the time they look greenish.

Anyone hear any more about this one..? I love how this stuff comes up, and then just fades out of the news. or are those involved still actively working on it....?

Joey Offut is in the ruleouts now. The rest of the women Carl listed still aren't.

Michelle Benjamin has also been added to the ruleouts list

There are 44, or 43, Amy Pugner is on the list twice

Bumping because this is very close to my home. I drove past this location every week when I was commuting to University Park. There are now 47 rule-outs on the NamUs list.

Not that I expect it to be her due to the time between her disappearance and the date this UID was found, but I'm surprised Karen Denise Wells isn't yet on the rule out list. Her case has always interested me...lots of speculation, very little evidence. The reason for her trip has been suggested as being anything from picking up a friend in trouble, to something related to drugs. It's a long shot, but she would be in the age range if she had been alive all of this time.

Her Doe Network page says that DNA is available. One would think this would be a quick rule-out...

I received an email yesterday saying they added exclusions to this UID. It is now up to 49 people.

Shelva Rafte is now listed, and we know Joey Offut was ruled out back in September. The rest you listed Carl still aren't on the ruleout list. I wonder if they are checking them?

Wow, the reconstruction really does look like Phylliss Ann Crocket!

This morning abc27 posted a short story about this person and two photos of the reconstruction. One is a slightly rotated view, which gives another perspective to the face.

The article says investigators have found no dental or DNA matches in the databases. Would that rule out Phylliss Ann Crocket?

Phyllis Crockett also has a scar on the bridge of the nose (in addition to the scar on her left cheek), suggesting that it might have been broken. This would fit the description that the UID "may have had a broken nose earlier in life".

However, her height (5'6") is a couple inches above the already wide height estimate (4'11" to 5'4").
