GUILTY PA - Susan, 44, & Sarah Wolfe, 38, murdered in their Pittsburgh home, 6 Feb 2014

The area where the sisters lived have homes that sit extremely close together. My 100-year-old home is similar. You can look around the sisters' home:

It appears that no one bastardized this home by pulling out all the awesome transom, stained glass, and 12 light (panes) windows. These old windows are lovely, but leaky. If there had been screaming in their house, many neighbors would have heard. These women allowed their killer to quietly enter their home because none of the neighbors allegedly heard any disturbance. One or both of the sisters knew him/her.

The house was sold in 1979 and again in 2010 before Sarah bought it in Nov. 2013. It went on the market May 2013. The previous owner was KS, but who owned the house between 2010 - 2013?

I wonder if anyone associated with the house's past was released from prison recently. Especially someone convicted of an armed robbery in which the money was never recovered. (Culprit may have believed it was still stashed in the house and not have realized the house changed ownership).

What else could someone, such as an ex-con, have been looking for in the house and that might still be there undetected? Would drugs, such as heroin, be "usable" after a lapse of 3 years or more?

Sorry for all of the late night posts.

Could this man be related to the previous owner or be otherwise associated with the crime by virtue of his name:

Maybe an old crony of the man in the article was looking for him (after release from prison?) and thought he found his residence on Chislett St. since the previous owner has the same name. The man in the article, though, isn't necessarily a lifetime criminal who would have associations with career criminals who might suspect him of hoarding some stolen money. But, I don't want to overlook a possible connection to a murder.

Hope LE has some info that will nail the perp soon.

Thanks. It's a lovely house with so many windows. It looks like an easy, inviting house to break into though. These are crazy times for all kinds of crime, but it wasn't like that at the time that house was built.

The houses are very close together, I agree. Are there houses on the other side of the street? It was upsetting news to hear about this case.

Yes, there are houses across the street. You can "drive" down this street by clicking on this link.
http://www.zillow.com/homedetails/701-Chislett-St-Pittsburgh-PA-15206/11622263_zpid/
Go the the photo. Above it see "street view". If you click this and then the arrows on the page, you can "drive" around and see the other homes.

Edit: There appears to be a large subdivided home across the street fron the sisters. Ugh. I hate those in old, large homes and have several behind me which I hope burn to the ground (while they are empty). Landlords, who don't live in the area, put huge numbers of apartments in such large, old homes. They then rent to numerous HUD/Section 8 clients with all kinds of backgrounds and mental illnesses. You never know who is your neighbor because they become revolving door apartments with addicts. ex-cons. and those waiting for trial while wearing ankle bracelets.

This likely has nothing to do with their murders, but I am still curious. Dr. Wolfe was described as an "old school riot grrrl. What is the meaning of "old school riot grrrl"? A female who empowers other females? tia

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Riot_grrrl

"Riot grrrl is an underground feminist punk rock movement that originally started in the early to mid-1990s, in Washington, D.C., and the greater Pacific Northwest, especially Olympia, Washington and Portland, Oregon. It is often associated with third-wave feminism which is sometimes seen as its starting point."

With one victim found naked and possibly doused in bleach, it doesn't sound anything like a burglary gone wrong to me. In fact, in restrospect, the first burglary sounds like an attempted sex assault/murder gone wrong to me. The perp didn't find the victim so made do with stealing stuff instead.

I think the house was likely to have been trashed, if that was the case.

It could have been a perp laying a false trail in advance, hoping to lead police into thinking the killings were a result of a robbery gone wrong. But that would take a very cold, calculating mind. Unlikely such a perp would then have messed the whole scenario up by leaving one victim naked.

Very, very dangerous person in my opinion. Probably a big risk to other women he knows too (I do think victims knew him). I hope they catch him soon.

Possible suspect...

He wouldn't identify the man or describe his connection to the sisters, but Zappala said detectives made “a great deal” of progress on the case and met with officials in his office in the morning.

“It's amazing, with the technology people are using, the information you can generate in a short period of time,” Zappala said.

I was reading this article online and very disturbed by it. I'm from Iowa and did some further sleuthing into their sister Mary who is an Iowa State Representative serving the Clinton district. I read her bio, saw she was one of 8 children (6 sisters/2 brothers) and then saw she was the daughter of John J. Wolfe ,a prominent attorney also with a practice in Clinton in which Mary also works. I looked at her pic, thought she resembles someone......my goodness, one of her other sisters (not The victims) was my roommate my freshman year at the University of Iowa. We didn't keep in touch but I remember what a great family they were. Very close, very educated people who had a lot of compassion for Justice....the whole lot. I'm so very sad. The world lost 2 very kind souls trying to make a difference. I pray they find the Killer('s). Thoughts & prayers for the Family. I can only imagine their pain. Godspeed.
