I want to explain the recently removed thread and locked threads. You guys deserve an explanation.

First, it is important for y'all to know that the last thing we want to do is remove or lock threads. We only do it when all other avenues of moderation have failed. Secondly, please understand that all admins & mods here are volunteers. They work their behinds off solely for the cause and because we love our members. In a hot case like this it is not unusual for mods assigned to a case to stay online for 12-18 hours at a time. Sometimes even longer than that. At times, mods' offline lives take precendence. For instance, right now concerning only mods assigned to the Arias case we have one mod who had a recent death of a very close friend and she is juggling a lot, yet she still is here to help when she can; another mod's home flooded badly and she is dealing with that; another mod is on a much deserved vacation out of the country, and still yet one more has a very important appointment today that has required a ton of preparation. All of this is very untimely and for that we are sorry, however it is what it is and sometimes the cards just fall like this. I know you guys do appreciate what we do so I'm not telling y'all this for any other reason that as an explanation as to why we are mod short and can only do so much. I think I know you guys well enough to believe and hope you will understand.

That said, you guys can help keep these threads open. Please read the mod notices, warnings and admonitions. We've have rules. Those rules are not to be control freaks, I promise you that. It would be much easier to let people run loose but that is not how we roll at Websleuths. The rules are for good reasons. We try to be a reputable site. We are not a gossip site. We always err on the side of protecting innocent folks, as to how it pertains to the topical crime. The problems most recently that have caused threads to be closed or locked include: sleuthing of non-players and posting about it; baiting, inciting and bickering & people posting opinions as fact without being verified in a particular area; emailing media outlets and bashing of more than one journalist. NONE of these things are permitted and we do not have the mod coverage right now to handle these kind of things.

So, we would like to review and clean up some of these threads to put them back out for discussion as time permits. Just want you guys to know what you can do to ensure they remain active threads. It helps when you alert problems like I described above so that we can get a handle on them before they derail into the ditches and we are left with no choice but to remove them.

Okay, on to today. Please keep in mind the above when posting in what is sure to be an emotional day. My hint for the day: Don't post impulsively when you are feeling like blowing a gasket. Choose your words carefully, preview your post before hitting "submit reply".
