The story about Anita still being in Aruba, and attending a film festival (!) no less, really does not ring true. It was widely reported that she was on her way to Peru a few days ago. I found it very strange that we hadn't heard anything else about this.

If somehow this is true, it is entirely out of character for her.

So, by your thinking, the report out of Aruba is probably false? Yet the reports that she's on her way to Peru (which we've seen absolutely no evidence of) are true?

He needs some intense therapy, like yesterday. Unfortunately I doubt Peru is going to provide him with intensive psychotherapy to get at the root of his issues and work through them, etc like he MIGHT get a shot at IF he was in the United States and had money. (Otherwise, in the US, he'd just be housed for x years with the crazies in some max security prison.) But being in Peru, where I imagine he will be for many years, the slim chance of rehabilitating him so he is not a monster the rest of his life, is lost. He might one day be able to graduate to a locked facility where he has his own place, a job to do there, etc. Something so he's productive but not on the streets to kill people. JMO. But no such program exists in Peru, its literally dog eat dog there and he will not only not get any mental help of any significance he will become an even worse criminal. Where is he to go after Peru? I hope a whole lot of solid charges are ready to line up against him, cos he should NEVER be out with society again. JMO

Right, the time had come and gone for JVDS where he could have received therapy and psychiatric services. His parents enabled him, and covered up for him. This is what happens 5 years down the road when you do not get the right services so to speak. JVDS could have done time in Aruba, received the services, chances are JVDS father would be alive. Who knows...but why committ a murder in one of the worst possible places? Not too smart and for $300.00? Talk about being at the very end of his rope!

The party could have been on Monday night and her flight isn't till Friday, for all we know. So both, or neither, could be true. I will never complain about getting information out of the American cases (except Florida, where I LOVE that Sunshine Law) again, at least I speak the language. The language and culture barrier here throws a wrench in every possible theory. jmo

I am curious what percentage of prisoners in Peru who are sentenced to 35 yrs actually walk out of prison? In other words what is the fatality rate in the prison system? I honestly would be very surprised if he makes it. MOO

I REALLY want to see a link or ANY info Joran was in a psych hospital/ institution. THAT has piqued my interest.

No neighbors, no school friends (except the one girl) no former teachers, nobody is stepping forward to tell the world "THIS is the REAL Joran".
You would think f he wasn't all we think/ read he is, someone would have leaped forward to his defense. Jus sayin. Could be wrong.

That makes me think he yanked her off the bed by her ankles. That would also explain the mattress being partly off the bed..forcefully pulling someone off the bed would do that. The chin and wrists could be carpet burns from being thrown to her stomach on the floor and her wrists restrained while he put pressure to her neck.

I think $300 is what JVDS had left on him at the time of his arrest, remember he had to pay off the cab drivers to take hime to Chile.

If there is any truth that he really beat his own dog to death at age 13, that's the point they should have sought some intensive therapy. They supposedly had money, even if it meant sending him our of Aruba for some good therapy, that's what he needed. If not before, we know nothing about what kind of kid he was. he could have been the Child from Hell. Maybe that's why his parents indulged him, they really were scared of him. Maybe he held it over Paulus's head that he aided him in the disposal of a dead body when he was technically still a minor, and that's how he continued to get money sent to him all over the globe from his parents (Dad). Now Paulus is dead, he can't bribe him anymore, so he turns to the Holloway extortion plan.

In the coffee video, it looks like he gets the idea to "pretend he can't get in the room" just after he opens the door a foot or two, then he closes it and pockets the key. I don't think this was premeditated, regardless of the date, which I am sure tweeked him a bit, though. Seems like it happened one.step.at.a.time. Why he freaked out and killed her is the mystery, I don;t buy the looking at his laptop story. Sounds made up. Maybe he really stupidly thought they really were going to have sex, this poor loser who can't even pick up chicks in a casino, and she says, sorry, I'm gay. He's thinking, all the women in the world and I pick up one that's GAY? Maybe it threw him into a rage.
Maybe he borrowed money and that's what she slipped him when she came up to the table (not shook his hand). Money. And when they returned to his room, he was backed up against a corner cos he HAD no money to repay her...so he was trapped into killing her. His ridiculous litany of stories after that are as laughable as Casey Anthonys Zanny the Nanny etc lies.
So is this about a narcissistic liar or a psycho serial killer. Does the fact that he killed 2 and Casey killed 1 make him worse, or are they basicly cut from the same cloth?

I'm definitely not trying to pull anyone's leg here. As for why Joran confessed, I think I've made it clear that I don't really think he did confess. Or, if he did, that it was coerced out of him. At this point, we are at the mercy of press releases and leaks from Peruvian authorities.

The crime scene evidence just keeps on changing. From mutliple stab wounds and a bloody mess everywhere to no murder weapon to the baseball bat to the tennis racket to the broken neck to the latest- Joran strangled her with his own shirt and may have hogtied her as well. I can't understand why I'm apparently the only one who finds this suspicious. Little mistakes can happen, incorrect information can leak out in the early stages of any crime, but this is well over a week now, and the "facts" in this case just keep evolving.

While I am a harsh critic of our own justice system, at least we are not at the Peruvian, third world level yet. If Joran was in America, and had access to a top defense attorney (like his old lawyer Joe Tacopina), it would be relatively easy to create reasonable doubt in the minds of any jury, just by concentrating on all these changing "facts" about the crime scene, many of which can be traced to the most official of sources- direct quotes from the head of the police investigation and the medical examiner's office.

I think that many of you would feel a bit differently if the American media would report on this story like journalists, instead of frothing at the mouth and leading the lynch mob. There have to be some defense attorneys and/or civil libertarians out there who are concerned about the terribly biased news coverage, and whether or not Joran is guilty of anything more than incredible stupidity, but if so they are never invited on any of these t.v. shows (Nancy Grace, Jane Velez-Mitchell, Greta, etc.) that devote so much time to this case. There is another side to every story.

Thanks! I recalled the 5000 soles (approx $1755USD) that was reported missing from Stephany and now I'm reading $300USD and couldn't imagine how it so drastically changed. That makes more sense!
