I would love to be a witness to Joran's tantrum when he FINALLY realizes he is not going to get to just go home

My son was also diag with ODD and ADD so tell me something I don't know .. It was a battle.. and like I said in previous posts .. Only the grace of God did we make it ... Medication helped but he hated it. Why do they hate it so?? He would only say he didn't like the way it made him feel.. tired ect.. that was on Adderal which if you and I took it we would be speeding.

My son didn't like taking his adderal because he couldn't sleep and he lost his appetite. We found out later (when he was in highschool) he was selling it to his older sister and her other friends so they could speed through the night and party and cramb for test. It was a living nightmare.

My son is in his twenties and still struggling with ADD, anxiety, and behavioral issues. My daughter is half-way through her master's degree program.

They were raised in the same families with similar values. Parenting is a crap shoot. I love both of them just the same. One has definitely brought more heartache (to himself and all of us who love and support him) than the other, though.

ETA: I banned my son from my home for 2 years because of drug addiction issues. I didn't ban him from me as I told him numerous times if he would like to call or have me pick him up for lunch or dinner, I would be more than happy to see him. He never called. I missed him terribly those two years; It was almost like he had died and I was mourning his loss. Tough love is so very hard.

I do feel for Anita VDS.

I remember him counting through some bills when they inventoried his belongings but it seemed at the time they were only from about 3 different countries. :waitasec:

"They pull out of his backpack a laptop, a business-card holder and 15 bills in foreign currency. Van der Sloot tells police the money includes Thai, Cambodian and Bolivian currency."

http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/2010-06-06-joran-van-der-sloot-lawyer-peru-killing_N.htm

At 0:26 of the video, we see the currency that the Peruvian LE found in his possession. The officer counts the bills...there are 15 paper bills.

VDS may have been more in control of his behavior in classroom setting than at home>delaying an earlier diagnosis and subsequent treatment of w/e he may have suffered from.

Thanks so much ~ I knew something had mentioned the three countries. Now with all the additional countries added to the list, I wonder if he'd actually been to all those places. MOO

Interesting last sentence:

http://www.cnn.com/2010/CRIME/06/21/peru.murder.case/index.html?hpt=C1

Joran van der Sloot has a low tolerance for frustration and "doesn't value the female role," according to excerpts from a psychological investigation report given to a judge by prosecutors Monday.

According to the document, van der Sloot, suspected of killing a Peruvian woman late last month, "does not tolerate when someone tries to contradict him. It generates in him a challenging attitude."

The report calls him "emotionally immature," which elicits strong changes in behavior that can send him out of control.

"He reflects a certain dominance over the opposite sex. He doesn't value the female role," the document states.

Its adds, "he presents traits of an anti-social personality" and is "indifferent towards others' well being."

Despite this, the report says, "he doesn't show any psychopathological trauma that impedes him from perceiving and evaluating reality."

And with that interesting read on Joran's psych profile, I will say good night! :seeya:

Stick a fork in him - he's done.

Oops...there goes his chance at an insanity plea!!

I am providing this google search link so you all can pick and choose which documented research articles you want to read. I have done extensive research on the effects of drugs and alcohol on the teenage brain for reason's I posted above.

Quite frankly, what I have learned through all my research is that drug/alcohol abuse during the teenage brain rewiring for adult thinking years, stunts brain development and causes immaturity in young adults. It is a physiological fact and ruinness to many young lives, families, and detrimental to society as a whole.

I wonder how long Joran has been drugging and drinking?

ALE had too many friends in high places connected to the VDS's.

Peru is a totally different thing.......here we have the victim's family in the
high places......but they won't do anything....however that won't stop a friend of theirs from slipping an inmate a 5 or a 10 to bring him down.

Now that would be nice, eh?

I've wondered how many times familiy friends have offered this to one or more of the Flores family. I wouldn't doubt it one bit.

Painter you had me on the floor with that one LOL
I know that rats can eat through pipes too -- especially if you have ground level connections

here's a link (WARNING: proof they can be found swimming in your tidy bowl)
http://www.straightdope.com/columns/read/29/can-rats-swim-up-through-the-urk-toilet

 That's it! After reading that, I am never going to the bathroom again at night without turning on every light in the bathroom and opening the toilet seat with a 12 foot pole. Note my toilet is 8 feet from the bathroom door but I am not taking any chances. A 12 foot pole gives me 4 extra feet head start.

It's either that, or wet the bed.

Well, I never thought Joran had willingly confessed to anything. This explains why we never saw the video of his "confession." If there is something on tape that shows Joran asking "this only says that I understand my rights, correct?" and nothing more, then it seems to me that it's obvious the police forged the confession. That should be a serious transgression, but in Peru it may be standard operating procedure.

The bigger question is- even if it can be proven that the authorities tricked Joran into "confessing," would any members of the lynch mob care?

[/I]

Meaning there's no psychosis so heknows right from wrong, but doesn't care. Which means: Make yourself at home Joran.

Oh he'll be shocked all right. I bet he's thinking "why didn't I turn myself
in 5 years ago."

But he was so damn smug then.....I wanted to rip the skin off his face.:banghead:

That showed right then and there what "problems" JDVS had and the discipline that was(n't) construed upon him IMO. Good grief, he just got away with murder and then continued to show his a$$ in such a immature way. They should have knocked him up side the head then. (Not really), but they should have yanked his tail and curtailed his behavior along with treatment.

How old are the brothers that were involved in this in Aruba? TIA

His confession with reinactment would actually allow him a much lighter sentence. No need for peruvian officials to coerce a false confession out of him. IMO.

Surveillance video from the casino, streets, hostel, etc...Along with DNA is all Peru needs to lock him up for 35 years to life.

Joran's withdrawal of his confession will only hurt him. IMHO. Based on everything we've learned about Peru's justice system.

Oops...there goes his chance at an insanity plea!!

I say just let him withdraw his confession and get on with the trial. It was for his benefit anyways! They've certainly got enough on him!

Also, as reported on either HLN or Insession, today, from a female Peruvian attorney (I'm sure PattyG captured it, thanks PattyG!) it was stated that Joran can lie and lie until the cows come home in front of the Judge and the Tribunal. Peru doesn't even have "I swear to tell the truth and the whole truth" for fear of felony perjury charge. Perjury charges are nonexistent in Peru.

It seems as if the tribunal bases their convictions of criminals on verifiable facts.

Again, if the Peruvian authorities did indeed lie to Joran about what he was signing, and he really didn't understand it, will any of you acknowledge that it was wrong for them to do that?

Would you support that kind of thing happening in this country?
