Seized a large quantity of knives, spears and axes in Lurigancho.

Check out the video for a sampling of weapons, cell phones, etc. seized on just TWO halls of Lurigancho, where the woman was found buried in the cell of a prisoner. Incredible!

Another link which also shows the raid:

OMG!! spears and axes??? Not much of a prison - more of a containment area and that's it.

"Sound pretty incredible? Prison officials say there are at least 14,000 people a day passing through the prison and it’s impossible for the guards to properly monitor and control. After the discovery of the corpse, the Peruvian police searched the entire prison finding large amounts of weapons, mobile phones and drugs."

Sounds like Grand Central Station, not a prison!!!

"Conquet is accused of strangling his girl friend, 22-year-old Leslie Paredes Silva, during an argument after the two had had sex in his prison cell."

I thought these prisons were supposed to be the toughest in the world. Can you imagine any of these things happening in the US?

Off-topic....but slightly related...

"In 2009, nearly 7,000 cell phones were discovered in California prisons. The number this year is above 8,000.

Officials say prisoners use smuggled cell phones for a range of criminal activity, including running drug rings and planning escapes. In some cases, prison guards have been accused of bringing the phones into prisons and selling them for as much as $1,000 a piece."

Hmmmm....sounding a lot like Peruvian prisons!!! Guess we're not as righteous and controlled as we'd like to believe... :blushing: :furious:

It certainly took long enough, but the results of the analysis of Joran's laptop have finally been reported by el Commercio, Peru.

They show two important facts:

(1) 'before committing the murder [Joran] was connected to the internet European to enter the site online gambling Poker Stars . This "site" would have been visited while he was with his victim.'

(2) Joran 'made several searches on Google after the death of the young [woman]. ...Van der Sloot tried the following English terms "relationship between the Peruvian and Chilean police", "Chilean border pass", "buses in Chile" and "countries that do not extradite in Latin America" which revealed that he planned to flee to neighboring South after the crime to escape justice.'

So, now we have a possible clue that Stephanie went to his room to do some online gambling.

And, the case against him now has some hard facts about his guilt, since he was clearly running from the law and trying to escape extradiction!! :woohoo:

just looked back at my notes....the analysis of the laptop began on July 21 and was estimated to take 120 days.....instead it took almost 5 months!!!

Wow! So I guess JVDS can't deny it was HIM that killed this poor girl! Why else would there be that info about Chile and he was located there?

Wonder if he took her back to his room to try and recover some of his losses on his internet gambling? Maybe she lost and he got angry and ..................

Just an idea,
fran

Sure took a long time.

Yup... sure shows a conciousness of guilt. Unless it was those corrupt Chilean police that were trying to rob him and Stephany that got on his computer in order to frame him. :innocent:

One more nail in this punk's coffin.

Advanced Technology Directorate of the National Police revealed that the alleged murderer visited sites related to Natalee Holloway's death, his first victim and searches like: relationship between Peruvian and Chilean police, buses to Chile, Chilean border pass, and countries that do not grant extradition Latin America. Indications that the Dutch had always planned to flee the Peruvian justice system and avoid being captured.

Also, a friend of the victim said he saw withdrawing a large sum of money, according to Peruvian authorities, was used by the Dutch for their flight. To be demonstrated, if the cause of the crime was robbery, Van Der Sloot could be sentenced to life imprisonment.

Sounds like his original confession is still holding up. Didn't he originally say they went back to his room to do some online gambling and she discovered who he was by an email or some kind of social networking alert while they were doing this? I know it's morphed a few times but I thought that was the original story. :waitasec:

They argued, she tried to leave and...well he stopped her. :(
