I don't know where all of this came from. Some of it is my deductions based on the evidence, and I will try to show my thinking where possible. I was not intending for it to sound like JB, but it rather came out that way.
The killer comes from Long Island and has strong family and community ties there. This includes family and social ties to the criminal underworld, local government, law enforcement, and some of Long Island's more wealthy and prominent individuals. For instance, Matt Damon's character from The Departed has a similar background. The killer is familiar with people on both sides of the law, and he knows their routines. This is one of the reasons he's been able to kill for so long without being caught. He is not so much a mastermind as an imitator of other people's tricks. Some of his techniques may be right out of examples from law enforcement training seminars that he has heard about secondhand.
I feel he spent significant time in juvenile facilities during his formative years. Along with property crimes related to poor impulse control and attention-seeking (arson?), he has an early rape or sexual assault on his criminal record. People who served time with him in this juvenile facility would remember him today because he was unusually bold and sadistic. Emboldened in part by his family ties, he has always been arrogant. In those days, he was cruel for its own sake but also because he wanted people to witness it. It's a power play for him. If he bullied other juvenile detainees, he did it in front of everyone. His juvenile record is probably sealed or expunged. He may have some crimes on his record from his early twenties but because he is older now (early forties) and probably works exclusively with family and friends, few people know the details of his early criminal past.
The killer's family probably has a successful local business that is associated with the criminal milieu. This could mean owning a strip club or a liquor store like JB's family does or a contracting company like John Wayne Gacy or they might be slumlords. It is likely that he has friends and/or relatives in law enforcement and/or local government as well. I feel he is probably hearing the LE scuttlebutt that few of us on this board are able to access and has adjusted his behavior accordingly.
He definitely drinks and may be a regular at local bars. He has a "townie" aspect to him. The bars are not dives but they are not yuppie places either. Bar regulars and employees are aware that he is predatory and a bit "out of control" because they have witnessed him being violent and predatory before.
He is a regular user of other drugs as well, such as ecstasy and cocaine. This is a no-brainer. He has probably been in rehab at least once.
The killer has a very strong sexual appetite and he has occasionally had sex with trans women and men, which may explain some of the Manorville and Parkway victims. However, he is primarily attracted to young and underage women. This is why he made so many calls to Melissa Barthelemy's sister. He may have an early conviction for statutory rape or prowling. When he hires escorts, which he has done routinely for decades, he may engage in age-related games with them (i.e., "pretend you're a Catholic schoolgirl.") This is why most of the victims have been particularly small and young-looking. He is someone that has friends in the escort business and probably frequents strip clubs, where he prides himself on knowing the dancers personally. He often gives women drugs or other gifts.
This killer is more socially adept and high-functioning than your typical serial killer. He can be charming and charismatic. He's a braggart and a name-dropper.
This is someone who has always driven a high-end vehicle, probably with tinted windows. Right now it is probably a black or white sport utility vehicle. As others have mentioned, he may now be killing the women inside this car, sometimes in semi-public situations, like in a deserted parking lot next to the ocean. He has an exhibitionistic streak and that is part of the thrill for him.
LISK is probably responsible for most of the Manorville victims and likely for AC as well. I think he had some unsupervised time during the AC murders and used it to go on a bender. However, one or more of the non-GB4 bodies found along Ocean Parkway may be related to other crimes. He is primarily an imitator when it comes to his criminal techniques, so if he has heard someone "in the know" say, "This would be a great place to dump a body" or "this is where the mob used to dump bodies," then he would begin considering it as a dump site. He does not do his own thinking. If the police are smart, they will use this flaw to catch him.
He is probably currently married or separated, with children. His wife may be younger or younger-seeming, and is particularly disempowered in the relationship. She is beautiful, definitely small in stature and may be a native of another country, without a good command of English. He has been controlling and emotionally and physically abusive to her, which is what caused the separation, if there is one.
He may be a gym rat or amateur body builder. I don't think this guy is naturally extremely tall or imposing and therefore he tries to make the best of what he has. He is probably about 5'8 or 5'9. Not short exactly, but not tall either.
The killer is much more confident and financially successful now than when he was committing the Manorville killings. He has also probably had practice killing in a location that we don't know about -- probably a place where his family has a vacation home. If he is ever caught, they will find more victims there. I do strongly feel he still works for family and has gradually been given more responsibility in the family business as he gets older.
Some of his crime scenes may be in rental properties or industrial buildings owned by his family or employers. This is probably where he dismembered, when he did.
I'm interested in any feedback you all have to what I've written here. I think the main thrust of it is a different take than what we have mainly been talking about.
