Retrieving wreckage from AirAsia Flight To Singapore- no survivors recovered #3

"Fishermen again found body parts and plane fragments believed to be from AirAsia flight QZ8501 off Majene, West Sulawesi, and Pinrang in South Sulawesi.

The joint search and rescue team was still scouring waters off the two provinces as of Tuesday.
On Monday afternoon, part of a human leg, covered in a red and black sock, was found on a beach in Wiringtasi village, Suppa district, Pinrang regency in South Sulawesi.

The partial leg, believed to be from a victim of the AirAsia plane that crashed into the Karimata Strait, Central Kalimantan, on Dec. 28, 2014, was found by local fishermen and brought first to Makassar and later to Surabaya on Tuesday."

The poor victims and families knowing their loved ones are in pieces it must be heartbreaking. Thanks to all of you for continuing to post here even though news is becoming very slow now. I'm glad they are still looking for victims and attempting to get the wreckage up.

The joint search and rescue (SAR) team on Thursday stopped the search for victims and plane fragments of the crashed AirAsia flight QZ8501 ... as nothing was found on Tuesday and Wednesday.

“The search mission has been halted and we have pulled out our personnel, but the alert operation is still ongoing. If there are signs of victims or plane fragments, we will immediately move to the location,” said Roki at his office in Makassar on Thursday.

WTH? Just calling it quits again.

I hope this means they got all the bodies that were strapped in their seats out of the submerged fuselage. Because its not like they would just float up to the top to be able to have someone alert them to another body.

2 days of not finding anything and they are ready to call it quits again. Didnt they call it quits before and pressure made them start up again. Something doesnt seem right with the way this has been handled.
I know the individual searchers and divers have done their best. I just dont like the administative side of this at all. It seems like they dont want any help and then they call it quits.

If funding is an issue I am sure other countries would be glad to chip in to help with the funding.

Yea. That didnt sit well with me either. They are just trying to look like they are all tough and mighty now with enforcing all regulations. But with the poor old fisherman who was just trying to help?
Good Grief. How about enforcing airplane regulations BEFORE their is an accident and leave the poor old fisherman alone!

I bet this makes all the other fisherman out there who were trying to lend a hand makes them want to get away from there now.

A great way to lose help from the local volunteers!!!

WTH is wrong with these officials.?

"The body of a British man who died when an AirAsia flight crashed in the Java Sea in December has been found.

Choi Chi-Man, 48, was travelling with his two-year-old daughter Zoe on flight QZ8501 from Surabaya, Indonesia to Singapore when it disappeared on December 27 with 162 people on board.

Mr Choi, a university of Essex graduate who has family in Hull, was managing director of an energy company in Indonesia.

He purchased his plane ticket and that of his two-year-old daughter Zoe on Boxing Day - according to the passenger manifest - and they were seated in the first row, in seats 1B and 1C.

Mr Choi's wife, Mei-Yi Wee and son Luca, five, had caught an earlier fight to Singapore's Changi Airport.

Indonesia will release the final report into last year’s AirAsia plane crash by August, the transport minister told AFP this week.

The Airbus 320-200 went down in the Java Sea on December 28 in stormy weather with 162 people on board, during what was supposed to be a short trip from the Indonesian city of Surabaya to Singapore.

“(The NTSC) promised (the final report) will be released by August,” transport minister Ignasius Jonan told AFP in an interview, referring to the National Transportation Safety Committee which is conducting the investigation.

The NTSC reports to the president and coordinates with the transport ministry.

Jonan said that the parties involved in the investigation, including plane manufacturer Airbus and AirAsia, must accept the committee’s findings and not interfere in the inquiry.

Thanks to all of you for still posting updates I am pleased more remains have been found and identified. I hoped the little baby would be among them so she can be buried with her parents its very sad.

Yeah, thanks everyone for hanging in there with updates for us.

Its hard now since I think I read awhile back that their government pretty much has stopped any diving for victims. Its all up to the fisherman and public now to find and report on anything washing up.

You just have to wonder if this had happened in a more populace country that it would have been handled much better and not given up so fast.

My biggest grief with them was they seemed to want to give up once they realized how hard it was and they found all the easy bodies. I still dont see why they did not accept help from other countries to get every last part and body from the depths. It is almost like that country did not want help and would rather the families suffer now without proper buriels.

And good luck to their NTSB they have. I dont know how they are going to do a good investigation after they only pulled up part of the plane and the way they mangled some of it like tail section.
