As jury comes in, judge telling attys that a close friend of his died, and he "may have to do something about it - a funeral later in the week."

Defense Atty Dillard beginning opening argument.

Defense Atty Dillard, saying GT is innocent - he didn't participate, he just overheard things. In fact, he told officers he knew they were gonna steal a car, but not the people in the car.

Yea Dillard... GT never said it was a bad idea to steal a car either tho did he... :/

:parrot:

Says he did see "the white female and the white male" in the house.

 Cold. And transparent tactic there.

Saying there was a ton of forensic evidence - DNA, fingerprints, etc... but none matched up with GT.

Says there is no evidence that GT did anything. This case is about what GT did not do.

Admits that he was sitting there, smoking a blunt, when Daphne came over.

His attitude was that it was none of his bidnez. He grew up in the rough part of Detroit, and learned to mind his own bidnez.

Shoulda coulda woulda.

It's reprehensible, but it's not criminal.

After the interview, he said to the officer that he wasn't gonna help that white girl.. but what they didn't tell ya was that after that, he said it was none of his bidnez.

Now Dillard talking about how it took 17 months for the officer to even tell anyone what GT said.

Up to jury to decide if he said it... but even if he did, he just meant it was none of his bidnezzzzz....

He did nothing. He didn't help them commit any crime.

What DID GT do? He took rides. Rode down to Knoxville w/ his girlfriend... rode in Channon's 4-Runner, and rode back to Kentucky to his girlfriend's.

There's gonna be a lot of emotion in this case... no question there were innocent victims, and families shouldn't have to go through any of this pain...

But GT did not do any of this. He just didn't act.

Jury needs to try to ignore all the distractions and just focus on the law and facts of the case...

Tells the jury that the pros is going to go after Criminal Responsibiliy...

Reads the statute... person must solicit, aid, direct, or attempts to aid in the commision of the crime.

There are 7 basic parts.. and the state can't pick and choose which.. they have to satisfy each one of these, ie, before GT can be found guilty of Criminal responsibiilty, he has to be found guilty of intent.. then solicit, direct, aid, or attempt to aid....

So he had to intend to do it, benefit, and attempt to help...

This lawyer is nice, but puts me to sleep... he's just repeating himself... getting coffee...

Finishes with the usual defense closings...

TK calls first witness, Josh Anderson, Chris' friend since grade school, Channon's friend for 2-3 years.

Sorry, I'm on a phone call.....
