TN TN - Lori Sibrell, 15, Franklin, 5 Nov 1978

I sent a message to someone who graduated from Franklin in 1981. Who knows if she will reply or even see the message... If i find anyone else I might send them a message as well.

Thanks - yes facebook is so tricky, people often don't even know you've messaged them.

Yeah, the messages are usually hidden if they're not your friend. It frustrates me a lot... I remember finally finding the message request folder and I had hundreds of messages! Hopefully she'll find it eventually.

Bump for Laurie.... so sad there was so little info in her case. Somewhere out there this girl is resting.

Thank you. I have started a thread on another website and have had a comment today from someone who knows of a newspaper article (including a pic) about her disappearance so I am trying to get more info on that to share here. I haven't forgotten her.

That would be fantastic! I tried sending messages to people who were in a "class of 1981" group from her school, but to no avail. Another option is to contact the school, but after all of this time would they even know anything? I don't know if any teachers/documents from 1978 would still be around?

So Laurie has a DNA profile yet no photo. You would think a family member would have a photo of her, well at least I would hope. I wonder who gave the DNA sample? I noticed she is ruled out on some of the UID's in NamUs.

anyone else good at searching up information on people? I think I may have found her mom, but I'm not 100% sure. There's notvery many Sibrell(Sibrel)s living in Franklin, TN. I wonder if Laurie had a sister?

I'm thinking she probably left her home to head to CY market. Her home at the time (if my info is correct) would have been right off Hillsboro Rd. I was going to say maybe she was walking home from school, but her school to home would be almost a 2 hr. walk. I wish I knew where the CY market was, then we could figure how far from home she was.

Back when my brother and I would stop to get Icee’s and candy cigarettes (I still can’t believe my mom would let us get candy cigarettes!) at CY Market after school.

Article about a new candy store in Frnaklin, TN. Author mentions CY Market, so it's not just some crazy typo! haha Website has a number, maybe I'll call them and see if I can get any info, it's Franklin based.

You could contact the school to ask if the library has any 1976/77/78 yearbooks with her picture.

Another reference to the CY Market here: http://www.williamsonherald.com/fea...cle_b1c62829-fc98-5ddc-901b-4a5a434ec890.html

It sounds like it may no longer be in business.

ETA: This Consignment store business page says they operate in what was previously the CY Market space: http://catmoon.wix.com/over-the-moon#!__meet-us

I've read several articles that state CY market was located in (or near) the "grasslands" which is the area between Franklin and Green Hills, TN. That would have been a nearly 3 hour walk from Franklin, though. I know kids walked everywhere back then, but wouldn't a 3 hr. walk be way too long?

Maybe there is more than one area called "the Grasslands"? Based on the address I found above for the location of the former CY Market it was in Franklin. Google maps says that address is only 5 or 6 miles from what is the center of Franklin today: https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Fra...1df3634dca9dcb!2m2!1d-86.8871639!2d35.9965957

Oh awesome! I'm glad you have the location of where the market used to be. If I have the possible address of where laurie lived (and I could be wrong, I just found a woman who could be her mother and looked back at her address from 1978,) it would have been about a 20 minute walk.

Here is the Google earth view of the CY Market where Laurie was reportedly last seen walking: https://www.google.com/maps/place/2...1df3634dca9dcb!8m2!3d35.9965957!4d-86.8871639

I wonder if they ever searched the woods behind that building?

The vast amount of woods is troubling. That's A LOT of space. Franklin has a population of 70,612. That's pretty medium id say? I don't know if there would be people rummaging through the woods often, and if this case got as little attention as it seems, they may not have looked.

I agree it seems likely LE wrote her off as a runaway and never looked. :(

It's over 70,000 today but back in 1980 Franklin was only 12,407: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franklin,_Tennessee

That's pretty small town, IMO, and probably had no resources to search for missing teens in the 1970's.

That is pretty small. I'm sure her family hasn't forgotten about her, but it breaks my heart to know she's disappeared and it doesn't seem like anyone is looking. I wonder if franklin has a historical society, you'd think maybe for a town that small and a young girl gone missing there would be people that remembered it/ it made somewhat of an impact.
