TX TX - Kendrick Jackson, 3, Houston, 7 April 2006 - *R. Fountain guilty*

A 3-year-old boy seemingly vanished into thin air one year ago Saturday, but he remains in the thoughts of his family and investigators.

Kendrick Jackson's father told police the boy wandered out of his Westside apartment, but exhaustive searches yielded nothing.

Police said they noticed strange things about the father right away.

"Red flags were immediately sent up, there was some inconsistencies in his story and some other things just weren't matching up," said Roger Chappell, of the Houston Police Department.

Roderick Fountain, the boy's father, was eventually arrested and is now serving a 15-year federal prison term for a weapons charge but police said they believe he played a role in his son's disappearance.

Now investigators are pleading for help.

I wonder what he did with that adorable little boy? Can't they get the girlfriend to talk? That little guy didn't just vanish into thin air. I wish he would be found. I wonder what his mother has to say by now?

My sons name is Kendrick. I was hoping this little guy would be found safe. I do not understand how anyone can hurt a child! It makes me so angry. Why didn't he just give the child back to the mom instead of hurting him. Where was the girlfriend in all of this...she must know something. Give the boy some peace and tell the law enforcement where they put him.

/hugs for little Kendrick

So very sad.....if what they say is true I will just take comfort in the fact that this little one is resting safe and warm in the arms of Jesus. Peace be to his mommy and all who love him.

DA doubts boy’s body will be found by trial

Prosecutors do not believe the body of 3-year-old Kendrick Jackson will be found before his father, Roderick Fountain, goes to trial for felony murder in the boy’s April 7, 2006, disappearance.

“We have pretty good idea what happened to him. We believe he’s dead,” said Assistant District Attorney Connie Spence. “But we do not have a body and we do not anticipate having a body by the time this goes to trial.”

In federal prison for the next 10 years on a weapons charge, Fountain was indicted Thursday after new evidence came to light.

Spence declined to discuss the new evidence, but said Fountain has been talking while in jail. She said he had not talked to investigators.

“There have been some admissions by him.” Spence said.

Despite not having a body, Spence said she believes there is enough circumstantial evidence to persuade a jury that Fountain is responsible for Kendrick’s death.

I just came across this crime and became concerned when I saw Quanell X is "the family's" spokesperson. The first link I read stated he was the mothers spokesperson but he quickly became the voice for the whole "family". I also was not comfortable with all the baby mama's talking about Fountain like he's this great man when it's clear, even to strangers, that he is not.

In searching I came across a couple of links not listed here. It seems Kendrick's mother didn't even have custody of him, his grandmother did... until 4 months before his father apparently killed him! And though grandma didn't go into any detail in the article I found it seems she doesn't agree with her daughters assessment of Fountain.

Also, after he got nailed for the weapons he also got nailed for witness tampering.. trying to get what appears to be a couple of his baby mama's to cover for him regarding the guns.

I hope he rots but I pray he tells where he put that beautiful boys body.

I was reading this months Army Times and Kendrick's pic and stats were listed in there.

I remembered his face and came to check if there was news for him.

Dad gets life in prison for 3-year-old son's murder

Jurors on Thursday sentenced Roderick Fountain to life in prison for felony murder in the death of his 3-year-old son, Kendrick Jackson, whose body has never been found.

[snip]

Typically, a life sentence means a defendant is eligible for parole in 30 years. It was unclear Thursday how the two prison sentences would affect each other.
