April Jones: Family reveal she has been on fishing trip with murder suspect Mark Bridger
The missing girl April Jones went on a summer fishing trip with Mark Bridger – the man suspected of murdering her, it has been revealed.
April was taken crabbing with Mr Bridger's two children in his blue Land Rover which police believe was used to abduct the five-year-old, her family has revealed.
The crabbing trip in August means April had been in Mr Bridger's vehicle at least twice before she was abducted while playing outside her home.
Bridger was a frequent visitor to the Brynygog Estate in Machynlleth where April's family live close to his ex-girlfriend.
Two of his own children Sophie, nine, and Connor, 13, live in the street and their stepsister Erin, four, was one of April's best friends.
Relatives confirmed former lifeguard Bridger, 46, took Sophie and Connor crabbing – and asked April to join them.

Statement from Iwan Jenkins, District Crown Prosecutor, Crown Prosecution Service Cymru-Wales:

“The Crown Prosecution Service has been in close contact with Dyfed Powys Police as their extensive investigation into April’s disappearance has developed. In particular, we have been offering advice and guidance to the police since the suspect Mark Bridger was arrested last Tuesday.

“My role is to examine the evidence that is currently available and advise the police in respect of charges.

“I now have to advise that, having carried out a detailed review of the evidence gathered so far by Dyfed Powys Police, my conclusion is that there is sufficient evidence to charge Mark Bridger with the murder of April Jones, and that it is in the public interest to do so.
“I have also concluded that there is sufficient evidence to charge the defendant with attempting to pervert the course of justice and child abduction.

April Jones search: 'No family or town should have to endure such grief and despair'
Our reporter Simon Gaskell has been in Machynlleth since news of April’s disappearance first broke. Here, he describes the heart-rending events that have unfolded within a week in the small Powys town

This time last week, Machynlleth was known to most as a quiet, picturesque market town nestled in the Dyfi valley.

It was a hidden gem that – while popular with many – would have been a revelation to others.

But in the space of less than seven days it, and the tragic story that has unfolded here, has made it a name which is burning in everybody’s thoughts and is on everybody’s lips.

April Jones update: 'This town will stick together, for April's sake'
People in the town of Machynlleth will stick together and support one another to come through the other side of the worst ordeal in its 1,200-year-history, figures in the community have stressed.

For its population of 2,000, Monday marks a week since five-year-old April Jones disappeared.

But those who have been at the forefront of efforts to maintain the community spirit that has typified the search for the girl say that their support for April’s family, and each other, will be “unstinting”.

Earlier, people of the community - many dressed in pink - processed from the Bryn-y-Gog estate, where the five-year-old was abducted, to St Peter's Church in the centre of the town.
