I've been putting together a timeline of Tobin and mapping his locations, along with the various cases linked here. There's some I don't believe Tobin is involved with at all, others I'm not so sure. But in the process, a nice update for us all with regards to the link to Julie Gardner, as it seems her murder was solved! Killings under the red light. - Free Online Library

Will post with an update when I've completed.
 
Another update while I'm researching all the victims linked in this thread. The previously linked Elaine Smith:
Elaine Smith - Unsolved Murder 1983 - unknown - Elaine Smith Unsolved Mysteries UK

21-year-old Mrs Elaine Smith was found lying in a pool of blood, face down near bushes at the car park entrance to Coombe Wood Club, Kingston-Upon-Thames, Surrey.

It was published in the Aberdeen Evening Express dated Wednesday 20 July 1983 that an unemployed David Bloor of Putney, South London was arrested. Then in the Reading Evening Post of Thursday 19 January 1984 it states that an "Unemployed David Bloor, of Putney, South London, who beat, stabbed and strangled his bride of three months denied murder but admitted manslaughter on the grounds of provocation and was jailed for three years."
Looks like that one can be considered resolved.

Plot Robert Black's life on a different map
 
Tobin is a real nasty piece of work who threw a dog and his first wife out of a block of flats. When outside court he lashed out a female WPC and a female reporter and when being interviewed by police officers he stood over then with his arms pressed on a table despite the fact that they were bigger than him. This might be how you would expect a nasty killer to behave but others might behave in other ways totally beaten by the LE that capture them:

This is excellent. For the record Margaret said she was on honeymoon with Tobin at the time of the second Bible John murder - Bible John’s either dead or at large... but he is NOT Peter Tobin

I see no reason for her to lie as she hates Tobin and thinks he's a monster, he abused her for years, and a honeymoon is typically something you remember the date of it's not like it was something minor. She also mentions a distinctive scar he had but that could easily be overlooked as eyewitness testimony is terrible under the best circumstances and everyone who saw him that night was drunk. But if it can be confirmed he wasn't in Glasgow during the second murder then he can be safely ruled out for that. Some think the Bible John murders were different killers so he could have still did the third one which is the one all of the descriptions of John comes from. Honestly though i'm starting to think it wasn't him, was totally convinced when i first heard it years ago.

Serial killers start in their late teens and early twenties. Tobin was born in August 1946, so we use 1966 as a center point.

A twenty-seven-year-old housewife, vanished on November 29th 1965 from Port Glasgow, lived near Tobin's home. He was 19. She was small, brunette, involved with her local church and has not been found. Her handbag and coat were found in a bus shelter on Largs seafront, a few miles away. Like Dinah, money was taken out of her account.

Aged 13, April was cycling between Metton and Roughton on 8th April 1969, in Norfolk. Norfolk is a county that Tobin frequented on bank holidays. 8th April was the day after Easter Monday. Although Robert Black is also a suspect and drove vans (without a license) after 1964, I believe Tobin is stronger, as he was more likely to have been in Norfolk on that SPECIFIC date. April is still missing.

Jackie Ansell-Lamb and Barbara Mayo
Prints may solve 43-year-old killings mystery
Hitchhiking on the M1 in March 1970, 18-year-old Jackie Ansell-Lamb was found raped and strangled. Six months later, 24-year-old Barbara Mayo was also raped and strangled near the M1. If you look at her picture, she does look like Dinah.

Susan Long

18-year-old Susan Long was catching the last bus home on the night of 10th March, from Norwich to Aylsham. She had been at a dance hall. she was found at 5.15am on 11th March by a milkman, having been strangled and drowned in a puddle.
Of course, this fits tight with the murder of Jackie, but if we believe Tobin then decided to get as far away from Jackie's murder scene as possible, this works.

Helen Kane
The 25-year-old had been out with her husband and friends in Edinburgh in May 1970. She was found stripped and battered on a building site. Angus Sinclair may be responsible but I don't think we should rule Tobin out just yet.

Anne Law
34, murdered in Newcastle. Vanished in March 1973, her body found in 1982.

Wendy Sewell
Murder of Wendy Sewell - Wikipedia
The 32-year-old was killed in a cemetery in Bakewell in the Midlands on 12th September 1973. Beaten round the head and assaulted, her death reminds me of the Bible John murders.

Disappeared aged 17 from Norfolk. Might be the Cockley Cley body.

Found In August 1974, unidentified. Was wearing a Marks and Spencer nightdress and was wrapped in a sheet made in Scotland. The company made six particular sheets between 1962 and 1968. Why only six in six sheets is beyond me.

Pamela vanished on 27th August 1974 in Snettisham, at the coast. She had gone for a walk. What puzzles me is when her family were shown jewelry from Tobin, they said they recognized it, but it wasn't Pamela's. Vicky Hamilton borrowed her mother's ring when she vanished. Maybe Pamela did the same? Tobin could also have pretended to be a lost tourist and perhaps ask her to point somewhere on a map. She wouldn't be able to see very well, almost dark, so he could have pushed her in.

A 17-year-old, murdered in October 1977, shoved down a manhole and strangled with her tights.

This one was tricky, as I found literally no information on her. All I know is she vanished sometime in October 1977 and she was 19 and lived in London.

Margaret Frame
Murdered in Brighton in 1978, the 36-year-old was raped, stabbed in the back, her throat slit, an attempt was made to severe her head and her jewellery was taken. She was dragged 500 yards and buried in a shallow grave. It took ten days to find her body.

16, murdered in the area Tobin grew up. Robert Black is a suspect but I say he didn't, as the chances of one serial killer striking where another grew up and was probably living in at the time is minuscule.

I have been looking at more recent disappearance s that of Alexandra Morgan and Leah Ware which are not anything to do with Tobin who is in prison.
I am thinking there is a second serial killer yet to be caught or possibly someone already under suspicion.
Looking at the 1988 disappearance of Louise Kay this may fit if whoever he is started young.
I agree that Tobin may have done other killings but think it is important to remain open minded if no direct evidence.
 
Hello. Has anyone got any information on the murder of Margaret Doran who was murdered in 1981 in Brixton London. I know that she was bludgeoned to death in an alley way but has anyone got any information on where she lived and a description on what she looked like at all? As I believe that her murder could be linked to the deaths of Lynne Weedon in 1975 and Elizabeth Parravincini in 1977.And a number of other unsolved murders around London from 1975 to 1981 so if anyone can message me and let me know, I would appreciate it very much thank you. A former detective has said infamous Scottish serial killer and paedophile Peter Tobin is 'a coward who has taken his secrets to his grave' following his death in chains today aged 76.

Reports suggest he died while chained to his bed after suffering from cancer and a fall and refusing to take food or medicine.


Police Scotland confirmed that he died at 6.04pm on Saturday at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

They said the death was not being treated as suspicious and a report would be submitted to the procurator fiscal.

Retired Detective Superintendant David Swindle told the BBC: 'As far as I am concerned, Peter Tobin is evil. He's pure evil.

'This is someone who had no respect for humanity.'

He added: 'I have no doubt that Peter Tobin has killed other people. He is a coward who has taken is secrets to the grave.'

Vast police hours were spent in recent years piecing together the loner's nomadic lifestyle on the fringes of society, where he hid behind a variety of identities.

Officers believe Tobin will have killed others and had at least 40 aliases and 150 cars during his life to hide his tracks as he targeted vulnerable women.

Born in August 1946 in Johnstone, Renfrewshire, Tobin's life of crime began after he was sent to a reform school at the age of seven.

In his teens and early twenties he served jail terms for burglary, forgery and conspiracy.
