Why This case Is So Popular ??

Here we have middle class Americans. Grandpa worked for LE / Grandma is a nurse.

Casey was a very pretty girl / from the outside looking in. Sure she had Caylee when she was young. But you NEVER hear of a Mom waiting until her daughter was missing 31 days & still not be the person to call LE & report her missing.

Casey is a thief & a liar. She is a very poor liar!!!! LE has caught her at every turn in the road lieing.

Caylee was a beautiful little girl! Her pix show personality plus! The little angel never had a choice who would be her mommy. She trusted Casey to love & take care of her. Instead she got mommy dearest who is cruel, evil & nothing what America portrays as a mom / instead she plays the black scorpion!

The Grandparents are caught in Casey's web. These type of attitudes never happen in a normal American home. They turn her into LE. Then they turn on LE...they uphold Casey / the Gramma tells everyone to get off there azzes & find Caylee. NEVER does something like that happen. Most families are grateful for everything people do to help. These people are beligerant & treat everyone horrid. It never happens in a missing case!!!!

It's going to take a lot to forget that sweet beautiful face, the one where she's resting on her hand looking up.

It represents to me the precious, beautiful gift a child is. In her face of that picture I see the innocence of children everywhere.

And I can't believe that again, a child is dead at the hands of her mother.

My children (7 and 10) have followed this story with me and my ten year old is convinced her mom killed her and my seven year old keeps holding out hope they will find Caylee...she will know the truth when we all finally know it officially but she will be so devastated. Both send prayers every night specifically for Caylee...

Isn't it terrible? I mean, a mom should be one of the safest people in the world for a child. :(

Exactly!!! In my studies I come across so many cases where mothers kill their own children but Casey's story is the most disturbing. Maybe it is because I know cindy and George would ahve taken Caylee and raised her themselves but since Casey knew Caylee was her ticket to her parents money etc... she wouldn't let them have Caylee....ugh ugh ugh!

Well, aside from little Caylee looking like my niece did when she was that age....

The first thing that got me -- the mom waited 30 days. I was like, WHAT?

So, I believed the nanny story. Then...

THE JAILHOUSE CALLS WERE RELEASED.

After that, I was hooked. The way Casey talked... I just KNEW she did it. I didn't want to believe it, but I had that feeling.

I caught a news clip today of a 5yo Mexican boy who has been missing since Friday(?). He was with the father and when the mother came to pick him up from the vistitation he was not there. Dad has been charged with negligence. Hmmmmm (wow, dejavu?)...wonder where dear old dad got the idea? Wonder if the world will stop and watch for this little boy. meh...I doubt it. Unless of course dad turns out to be a handsome party scene junkie with some juicy photos for people to salivate over. It really is a sick sick world we live in...

His name is Giovanni Gonzalez. http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?t=69308

There are 91 posts in his forum. Almost 95,000 posts in Caylee's.

They are both out there somewhere. Maybe walking hand in hand, or maybe playing in the grandest of playgrounds. I just pray they are both pain free and feeling the warmth and comfort of the greatest love.

So then you are saying the majority of people following crime are white folks?

Sorry but I find it offensive to hear people say it is only about beautiful white girls. Who in the audience follows these cases then is the majority White? Why do non whites follow a case that offends them because the victim is a beautiful whitie?

So, so wrong. When little Sherice Iverson was murdered in my hometown, I followed that case for months, and she was black. Her murderer was a white 20 yr old punk. He raped her and snapped her neck in a Primm casino. I am not prejudice because Caylee is white and so am I. That is just so wrong to think.

:praying: for Caylee

Why is there so much attention on this Casey Anthony case and we haven't heard anyting about this little boy who went missing months ago? Notice, I did say Casey Anthony, not Caylee Anthony!!!

NG didn't even mention this mother, Summer ManyWhiteHorses, that was charged Monday with deliberate homicide. Why is Casey such a media target and this monster of a mother isn't? I just don't get it. This little boy had nobody missing him? No Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents, Neighbors? No media attention? Nothing? What's wrong with this picture?

I don't think anyone even realized the child was missing until he was found and his mother confessed. I'm sure there are other differences, but it wasn't newsworthy until after he was already located.

I feel it is because she is like Madeline McCann, very big eyes and just draws you in... but then we had Natalie Holloway in the same way. I have been drawn to follow all these cases and also Ramsey, Petersons... but then I was into the OJ case too. Was so happy when his friend wrote the book and confirmed that he did do it.

was he reported missing? has he been found? I can tell you a few reasons why people are obsesed with this case.

1. We can't understand why a mom wouldn't report her child missing.
2.The family has provided nothing but lies, so we have nothing to go on.
3.The mom won't talk, and the family, instead of shaking the truth out of her, supports her decision to not only do nothing, but say nothing as well.
4. There is forensic evidence of a dead body being in that trunk.
5. NO ONE in her family is looking for her, they are all sitting around the house playing on the computer all day.

It is the most bizzare case ever. It just never seems to stop. I could go on and on about the reasons we follow this case, but if you really want to know, I suggest you start with the 400 pgs released by LE and posted here.

This should have been newsworthy!!!!

Child welfare officials moved for custody of the daughter in August and were trying to determine the boy's whereabouts.

During the investigation, authorities learned that ManyWhiteHorses told relatives the state had taken the toddler long ago, that state officials were told initially the child was in Browning and then later that he was in Portland, Ore.

"Her stories varied based upon who she was talking to," said police Detective Bruce McDermott.

Holy cow, Casey had a mentor! I know not funny, but what a coincidence eh?

I think there was a study done on this. For the most part, little girls in general tend to grab more headlines, probably because more girls are kidnapped by would be child molestors then little boys. But a lot of it has to do with Casey's age and the fact she is a pretty girl in a "seemingly" normal "all American" family. Same thing with the Ramsey case and vanDam case. If the child is cute, ie. Samantha Runion, Danielle vanDam, JonBenet, or Caylee Anthony, then this draws more people. I think the fact that Casey is such a young mothered and seems so troubled, people just want to know what the heck went wrong. However times have changed, and now we have video cameras, cell phones, internet, forums, webcams, etc. that keeps people more connected to cases. We are also obsessed with reality TV. How much more real can you get then this? Like I said, I keep waiting for the Director to come out and yell cut, and then for Casey, Cindy and George to be nominated for the Academy Award for their terrific acting. It's that bizarre, it makes you think. I assume the case you posted, which I have never seen, just doesn't have that "appeal" to it for those reasons. However, its sites like Websleuths that can help keep this unknown cases alive. This one is just in the media everyday and I honestly I think it has to do with Caylee's doe eyed helplessness.

I have often wondered the same thing, why this case, when there are so many others. I don't have an answer. Maybe because it is unsolved. And the mother is so detatched.
There are so many reasons, but when you have a missing child, no reason is good enough if your case isn't gaining publicity too. All of it stinks.

I pay more attention to this case than most missing-persons investigations because there's such a deliberate and stubborn effort by the family to obstruct justice.

I mean, yeah, any criminal wants to impede the course of justice, but this is INSANE. That stonewalling and LE's approach (which I am not decrying - I think they're working damn hard and building one mean case, and the more the Anthonys insult them, the more driven they are to bring down one hell of a hard hammer) - is really unusual and drew my attention.

I can share with you all my need or obsession I would say with missing children cases. Ever since I was a child, I honestly think it dawned on me at the age of 8 or 9, a man that lived up the street from us dropped dead on the sidewalk right across from our home. All the neighbors came out when someone discovered him and my father kept all us kids back from seeing what was going on. I soooo wanted to see. We found out that he was only 20 and he was wearing what appeared to be pretty clean white socks and no shoes on his feet.

Turned out this man (boy really, 20 is so young) had jumped off his roof into his pool with some friend about a year prior and missed the pool. He cracked his skull but recovered. The night he dropped dead, his friend who had just left had forgotten something he left at the house, so the young man, ran after him in his socks, (his home was up the street). A blood clot from the accident the year prior released and went straight to his heart killing him. From then on I was hooked anything to do with solving things.

We always moved growing up. Not giving away my age here I hope but I have moved 36 times in my life. I had a very unstable family growing up. But I would always be "missing" things and I had an insatible need to find them. This went into an obsession in my early 20's, when a girl I was dating lost the back of her earring on a dance floor. I spent the whole night looking for it in a crowd of 50-60 people (while they were still dancing). But guess what? I found it. If something gets sucked up the vacuum cleaner, I am the first one to rip it apart to see what it was.

Then the Ramsey case happened, in my home town of Boulder, where I had spent part of my time growing up not to far from the Ramsey's home. the internet gave access to forums and then I found more people to share my obesssion or "connect" with. When the VanDam case came along, (at that time I only lived 30 minutes from them and my daughter was just a little bit older than Danielle). I became obsessed with finding the little girl and HAD to search for her, because I wasn't sleeping at night and could only imagine the pain the parents were going through not knowing where she was. The not knowing part is the worst. I reported the case here on websleuths complete with photos of the Van Dam and Westerfield home. Posted websleuths address in the guest book that was outside of the VanDam home for wellwishers, and before you knew it we had David Westerfield's cousin on here and neighbors of the Van Dam's. Belleofzball a fellow websleuther pulled up some very interesting information regarding the scratch markes on Westerfield's arm which I forwarded to Prosecutors, and the Prosecution thanked another poster publically for their input on Danielle's recent hair cut which helped the prosecution team nail down the time line which directly helped put Westerfield behind bars. Although that poster was from a different forum, it just shows how far this forum and others like it have come. And people like you and me who are obsessed with finding things, or finding children to the point where we don't give up. We are also all very good at solving puzzles or obessed with finding the missing link. That's what makes a good detective. I should have gone into forensics as it was a passion of mine since it deals with small amounts of evidence. Like that earring on the dance floor. I wasn't leaving without it. We all have that drive in us here that compells us to discuss cases like this. It's a GOOD obsession to have because just perhaps we can bring a little peace into the world by putting an end to the mystery.

I never heard the story you mentioned until today but I think one reason it hasn't been brought out is the mystery was solved before anyone knew it happened. Yes, it is terrible that DCF didn't do their job but that is a topic of a different type. The child is no missing.

In this case the whole family is fishy and the perpetrator has not been put away. Same with the Holloway case and Jon Benet case.

And with Peterson, this case, Van Dam, everyone pretty much knew who did it and wanted to make sure justice was served. I hope it gets served for this case.

Agreed:clap:

This is a question I get asked a lot. By media, by friends, by strangers.

People think it has to do with the "Blond Hair Blue Eyes" phenomenon. Meaning only white girls with blond hair and blue eyes get the attention.

That's not it. It is the "Rich and Strange" phenomenon.

JonBenet Ramsey. This case takes the cake. Imagine if JonBenet was black, rich, in pageants from the age of 4, had a ransom note left in the house where her body was found, parents that manipulated the District Attorney's office with power and influence.... the list goes on and on. This case might have gotten more attention if the family was black. Color didn't matter. What mattered was "money" and it was "strange."

Same with Scott and Laci Peterson. Let's say they were a nice Hispanic couple. Good looking. Husband goes "fishing" on Christmas Eve with an over 7 month pregnant wife. Pretended to be in Paris while talking with his girlfriend...and it goes on and on.. In this case I would say it was reversed. "Strange" came in a strong first in this case. "Rich" come second. (The Peterson Family appeared well off.)

Look at Casey's case. Far and above over everything is the "Strange" factor. Money does play in but not in a "rich" way. It is all over the top strange.

If the Anthony family were Asian and behaving like this they would get the same type of coverage.

In the case of Manywhitehorses you have a drug addict who put her child in the trunk. There is no mystery. No "strangeness" if you will other than the act itself. There was no national search because no one could figure out where the child was. Now, if Maywhitehorses parents were chatty like the Anthony's you can bet this case would have gotten the same attention. From what I gather, this woman was known to be a bad mother and the case is already solved.

This is why at Websleuths we have forums for Cold Case, The Missing, and others that do not get the attention they deserve. I would ask that all of you go to www.websleuths.com/forums and scroll up and down and read abou the other cases. We can always use help from our posters in those forums.

I agree this is a bizarre case and I've read all 400+ pages, read every news article, and watched every video. I just don't understand why this baby James was never mentioned until today, and today will most likely be the only time he will ever be mentioned. When Trenton Duckett went missing it was all over the media until Melinda committed suicide. Suddenly, the case was swept under the rug because Melinda the Monster was dead, and the media moved on to another monster of a mother named Casey. Hate to say it, but if Casey took her own life right now in two weeks this case would be off the "market" and go cold just like the Trenton case. This all makes me sick that just a few cases get all the attention, all the TV channel ratings, and all at the expense of a missing child. Where's the bail bondsman, and the bounty hunter at for Summer ManyWhiteHorses???????? She wasn't in possession of the car at the tow yard for over a month. Somebody else may have put her sons body in the trunk!!!! Do you see how ridiculous this all sounds?

I know I'm being sarcastic, but really folks this case is making a mockery out of our justice system. We have Casey being charged with a child neglect charge with a $500,000 bond, and Summer ManyWhiteHorses being held on murder charges with a $250,000 bond?
