MARATHON COUNTY (WAOW) -- Police have interviewed a man about the Antigo girl who has been missing since this August.

That's according to a police report.

The man, 18, was questioned by police at the Marathon County Jail. Newsline 9 will not identify the 18 year old since he is not currently charged in connection to the case.

Newsline 9 spoke with Captain Greg Hagenbucher from the Wausau Police Department Thursday morning.

He says the 18 year old male was picked up for underage drinking.

When investigators found out he was a friend of Kayla Berg, Hagenbucher says they questioned him.

However, he provided no new information.

Suspect in Kayla Berg disappearance enters not guilty plea

A Deerbrook man who was the last person to see a missing Antigo teen alive in August has pled not guilty to recklessly endangering her safety.

Kevin Kielcheski entered the plea today in Langlade County.

He's accused of smoking marijuana with Kayla Berg then giving her a ride to a home in Wausau. Berg has not been seen since August 11th.

Kielcheski is free on a $2,500 bond. He must remain sober and cannot have any contact with young women he's not related to.

A status conference is set for May 6th.

Bracelets for Kayla

Antigo businesses are selling special bracelets to help raise money for Kayla Berg's reward fund.

The 16-year-old Antigo High School student disappeared about nine months ago.

Kayla's mom Hope Sprenger says many from the local community have started selling these black and hot pink bracelets to bolster the growing reward.

Hope says the local police as well as friends and family continue to work hard to find Kayla.

How did the status hearing go, I wonder???

Now, where could they have gone between 9PM and 12AM (when he returned home) if it was NOT Wasau and the abandoned home??? I am willing to believe that there was a long sleeve shirt and a controlled substance involved in the disappearance but I am not sold on Wasau unless this guy is someone who tells partial truths...He was brother's friend? And her friends were not forthcoming???

This is a tough one.

I am so glad to see this thread here. I had started one in the support forum but really didn't have enough info to start on here. I have spoken with a family member and encouraged them to join here. I will remind them again.

New York (CNN) -- Kayla Berg was thrilled to return last August to Antigo, Wisconsin, where she looked forward to competing on the high school gymnastics team.

Her mother, Hope Sprenger, said she agreed to move Kayla, 15, and her older brother, Jimmy, back to the small town where they were raised. They had moved three months earlier to Texas, but Kayla and her brother were homesick.

"We were going to try and start a new life," Sprenger said, "but Kayla missed her friends. She was very upset that they didn't have gymnastics team at the high school in Texas."

I just read about her case on CNN-it seems solvable and she reminds me of another young lady of the same age I spent quite a bit of time on.

I like to ponder the radius someone could have gone in the fixed amount of time we are dealing with. Let's say, for example, that the suspect who has been charged with reckless endangerment had something to do with her disappearance-(my clue is the fact that LE still has the vehicle.) first of all, who can state definitively that he returned home at midnight? Is there anything independent? The reason I ask is because I would rather sleuth a 3 hour window than say a 12 hour window....KWIM?
