Australia Australia - Jenny Cook, 29, Townsville, Qld, 19 Jan 2009

Looking at the master bedroom, and out to that top deck, it would appear it does wrap around the side? And that would be on the right hand side of the house (or the left if viewed from the street). Which side was Jenny found on?

Master bedroom.jpg

This seems to be the dining/kitchen area that looks out on to the backyard. Is the sliding door the door that was "unlocked"?

Kitchen-dining.jpg

I feel (correct me if I am wrong!) that this was taken from the right hand side of the house. The space is wider to the fence. Note the steppers/pavers. Is this the side Jenny was found? If so, where in the wall/window was the knife lodged?

I could be way off here, but my idea of what is where in those real estate pics is quite different. For some reason I think the side of the house where Jenny died is the same one as the master bedroom and its balcony - the side that faces the water. I think the third pic above is of the opposite side of the house, where it is wider and faces away from the waterfront.

ETA I think there was a floor plan included on one of those RE sites - that would be helpful to see again and would confirm the correct positioning of the place where emergency services found Jenny.

Oh you could be on to something there. Just to clarify.. Is the side of the house where Jenny was found on the left or right?
Wish I could find a floor plan!

Well I think it was the left side (waterfront) as you look at the house from the street - but that's only my take and memories of things discussed here (not so flash memory these days I might add!)

Thanks heaps Ausgirl. I am easily disorientated!

The Google Earth image you have linked has a pool...I am assuming its part of 44 SheerWater Pde?

Google map.jpg

I can't see one in the RE listing I linked - you would think they would put it in the 8 photos?

Still hunting for an RE floorplan but not having a lot of luck. <modsnip>

Hi Saxons. The Google image that Ausgirl attached is from this year .. 2014. I believe that the R/E listing is from 2009. Presumably a pool has been added to the property.

Hope that helps. :seeya:

It does indeed thank you! I am still muddled. In the RE photos of 2009 it looks as if the house to the left (viewed from the street) is constructed, yet that Google image that you say is from 2014 clearly shows a vacant block.

Out of curiosity, how do you figure out what year a Google Earth image was from? From the Google Earth page:

"Understanding Google Earth imagery

When is imagery collected?

Google Earth acquires the best imagery available, most of which is approximately one to three years old. The information in Google Earth is collected over time and is not in 'real time'."

I just looked at our house on Google Earth, and it must have a picture prior to 2011, because it doesnt show our roof almost covered in solar panels....its bare! And there is a tree that has since been removed. We live in inner Brisbane.

No, Google imagery is not in real time .. but it is generally dated somewhere on the page.

At the bottom of this image it says "Imagery @2014" This is the one Ausgirl zoomed in on to get her pic ... with an empty lot next to the house.

https://www.google.com.au/maps/plac...2!3m1!1s0x6bd5f08564d0c8f7:0x88514bf2e3f4ad76

In this street view it says "Street View Dec 2007" under the address.

https://www.google.com.au/maps/plac...0x6bd5f08564d0c8f7:0x88514bf2e3f4ad76!6m1!1e1

I think the house seen to the left in this pic is the house that is behind and to the left ... 3 Riverwalk Way.

Hi, not trying to be difficult here, but Google Earth gives exactly the same "Imagery@2014" on our house pic here in Brisbane, which is at least 3 years old. I tried a few friends houses that have been built over the last few years in different Oz states, the pics of their houses are in varying stages of build/reno and Google Earth gives the same "footer". Their houses are all now completely finished and have been for at least a year. I think that is just a generic copyright footer by Google Earth to be honest.

But I take your point that the house you can see on the left of the photo could be the house in the street behind. Now we need a Townsville local to go for a driveby pls! I did a couple of times through Brookfield/Anstead after ABC was murdered and it gave a whole new perspective to distances travelled etc.

Yes, I think you are right about the footer. I downloaded Google Earth (the separate program, not the one available through Google maps). It allows me to go back through historical images of the house. Some time between 2009 and 2011 a big house was built on the empty lot next door. Pool seems to have been at #44 since 2009. Image below was taken in October 2009 ... I think he sold the place (presumably pool-less) on 30th June 2009, according to the R/E link.

Here is the 2009 image

Here is a 2011 image ... bit blurry ... haven't worked out how to sharpen it yet, if it can be sharpened that is.

And here is a 2013 image ... the most recent date that they have.

Folks there's been numerous warnings about this throughout the thread.

We do not sleuth someone who has not been named by police as a suspect or person of interest.

We do not accuse or allude to someone as being a suspect unless they've been named by police as such.

Why would anyone turn her hand so that the palm was facing up? This odd finding was noted in the coroner's report. She didn't do it herself.

Was it to check her pulse? If she was murdered, then did the murderer hang around long enough to be sure she was dead?

Hello my WS friends....am going to read from the start and try to catch up, you have all been doing
so much work *advertiser censored*

That was my thinking, MJ. Either that, or returned to check...

I also thought maybe it was about getting her prints on the weapon. Or putting it in her hand, before deciding the wall was better.

In that 2009 image, look at all the tyre tracks behind the house. Traffic in and out of that lot was probably not unusual by the look of it. Some go right up to the back fence.

Here is an image taken in July 2009 - no pool - but the pool is there by October 2009 image, as per my prior post. Tracks up to the back even in July 2009. If construction workers had easy access from that direction, anyone could have approached from that direction and not caused concern imo. IF anyone saw an intruder, they may easily have assumed it was a construction worker/inspector of some description.

Looks like there is some kind of white board/square behind #44's back fence too.
